Coppers of the Creature Collector

The eccentric Creature Collector has returned to the Commons, this time with a trio of plumedragon pets!



Head to the event area and choose one to train. You have until noon on Wednesday June 2nd to complete the collector's four daily quests, level up your chosen creature, earn Creature Coppers to spend in their store, and get another page to your Creature Collector's Compendium!

The Compendium Page will be given after the event ends. If you don't have the Creature Collector's Compendium ranch item, you'll get it when you get your first page.

After the event, the collector will be taking their creature back unless you adopt it by purchasing its corresponding mount pack, available starting Monday May 31st.

Train hard, Bush Whackers!

The training quests unlock at noon on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. Those busy on the weekends can still catch up!

Notes
- The VIP "Quest Reset" power does not reset these mini event quests, and they are not affected by the Time Turner and Timey Whimey Watch.
- Swapping your event mount with a higher level mount doesn't count towards event progress.
- These three pets earn double the experience compared to other pets for the duration of this mini-event!

Ye Olde Creature Collector's Galleria - Pets

When you speak to Tanela Tiva in the event area, you can select the "What past pets are for sale?" chat option.

This will open a new store, which will contain 3 non-event premium pets you have never owned! They cost Bush Bucks, like in event stores. The selection will change next time Tanela Tiva visits to event area.

We've done this in response to players asking to see old premium pets they've missed out on, to help you fill out your pet collection. Snag those old-school mounts you're missing out on!

Creature Collector - Plumedragon Pets! (May 28th, 2021)

A modron sighting is a rare occurrence outside Mechanus, the plane of true law.

At least, it's supposed to be a rare occurrence -- word has it that thousands of modrons have been seen on the march in the wilderness, and they are heading towards Waterdeep!

The Great Modron March 4 introduces Mehen, Dragonborn Fighter and adoptive father of Farideh and Havilar of Brimstone Angels, and brings back Jaheira, the renowned half-elf druid from Baldur's Gate, Qillek Ad Khollar, the Aarakocra Cleric of High Rollers. Players have until Monday, May 31st at 12PM Pacific to complete their The Great Modron March 4 unlocks and objectives.

I. New Champion: Mehen

Mehen is a tall, powerful dragonborn with dull-ocher scales and a blunt attitude. With strong opinions on the right course of action, he is just as comfortable yelling orders on the battlefield as he is fiercely protecting his daughters. Despite a life thrown into turmoil after being exiled from his clan and attempting to raise twin tieflings, Mehen remains resilient in his sense of self and his abilities with a falchion.

Mehen is both Grumpy and Gruff and uses those qualities to buff and bolster his allies, especially if those party members include Farideh and Havilar. When you want to add him to your formation, you can swap him with Nayeli (Slot 3).

Mehen's Abilities

Mehen is a Support and Gold Find Champion. With the new Brimstone Angels affiliation, he buffs his daughters Farideh and Havilar (and they buff him), while Exiled helps all three find the gold they need to continue their adventures.

Mehen prefers to be towards the back of any formation where he can think tactically about the battle and issue precise orders. Grumpy gives buffs to Champions in front of him, and Gruff boosts this buff based on how far ahead Champion in question is, while We’ve Trained For This increases the amount of gold he’ll collect the further back he’s placed. Year Four Variants

• The Elusive Bounty — Mehen is on the hunt for a pixie from the feywild who has been harassing adventurers for years! He starts in the formation. He can be moved or removed. The pixie arrives in each boss area to taunt Mehen, buffing all enemies so they move 100% faster and deal 100% additional damage.You must defeat her in addition to the area requirements to advance.
  Getting to know Mehen: To maximize Mehen's benefit within your formation, you'll want to watch his Grumpy stacks and keep them within the middle range.
  • Mehen gains Grumpy stacks based on which column he is in with a gain of 1 stack per second in the front row, to 5 stacks per second in the back row.
  • Mehen loses Grumpy stacks when one of the following things happens to either Mehe, Farideh or Havilar: They attack (10% loss), they take damage (10% loss), or they kill an enemy (5% loss).
• Reach Area 75.

• The Neverending March Continues — Every time a Modron is killed in non-boss areas it shuts down for 5 seconds and then comes back to life with full health. Modron enemies deal 100% additional damage.
• Reach Area 125.

• Volo's Guide to Grumpy Guys — Volo has returned to observe the formation. Only Male Champions can be used. Enemies move 100% faster, and deal 100% additional damage.
  Getting to know Mehen: While Mehen works best with his daughters Farideh & Havilar, he's no slouch on his own. Without the Brimstone Angels in your formation, you need to manage Mehen's Grumpy stacks a bit differently. Remember that changing his column will alter how quickly he is gaining Grumpy stacks.
• Reach Area 175.

Flowers In Bloom!

The Tenth annual Grow-A-Thon has returned to the Commons! Whack the bushes and gather their bounty so that you can plant flowers and trees in the Event area to make yourself a gorgeous garden. Impress the judges every 20 hours to earn Spring tokens to buy this year’s Custom Items. You need to impress the previous judge to get a rating from the next one.

Plus, fill your magnificent garden with critters! There are 5 to get throughout the event, starting with the Squirrel today! You can send out requests for a free one.

George has such a terrible green thumb, he’ll be looking for you to help him out trying to grow a plant for the first (or fourth) time.

Spring usually means spring cleaning, right? Freddy needs some help cleaning up his house. It’s gotten a little bit spooky. Cleaning items can only be whacked in his house.

Timmy wants to wake his turtle up from its hibernation after that long, cold winter. Aid him in finding things to tempt it back to consciousness.

Earn another copy of your old Bee pet, or one of the other two Bees when you complete the quests again this year!

Have too many seeds? There's now two new things you can spend them on:
- 10 Fertilizer, once daily
- The Spring Gift Bouquet, once daily (alternatively to buying for Spring Tokens)

New for 2021

If you can complete the event, you'll earn the Spring Mannequin Base!



Four new growable decorations have been added! They are the Sunset Sunflower, Yellow Rose, Hedge, and Pink Hedge! Plant seeds for these in your garden boxes in the event area.



For players level 400+, Farmer McDonald will reward you with Tier 2 Spring Fruit and Spring Vegetable seeds! These crops will yield energy and gold balanced for your higher level.

The contest manager will now show a warning before you make a submission after your first, explaining that it will overwrite your last submission and reset your ranking.

Finally, the garden contest page has been updated to show if your submission is in the top 10, 25, 50, or 100 of all ranked submissions! If your submission fall into one of these categories, you'll see a message saying so below your submission image.

• How can I find the seeds?
  Just keep whacking. The Holiday Item runes and pets will help attract them as well.


• How do I grow plants?
  There are the planters outside the garden to grow flowers in. If you click on them, you can see the plant store. Each plant has a different cost and grow time to get you your event progress points. You start with 4 free planters.


• Is it good to buy extra planters for growing the plants?
  If you have the seeds to spare and prefer to plant long-growing plants, then yes, it’s worth it.


• How do I get the Decorator achievement?
  If you go into the gardening area, the store button ($) has a selection of garden decorating items, where you can find the planter styles and watering can. These items also cost seeds.


• What are the possible seed combinations for Farmer MacDonald’s quest?
  You can choose seeds that grow either Energy or Gold, and then choose between 20, 15, 4, and 3 hours of growth time.


• Why do my custom seeds cost Gold to plant?
  You created the combination, which is unlocked until they expire. Just like normal plants, they cost Gold for planting. We don't award a flat number of seeds, because not all players have the same amount of farm plots. This way, you get to choose how many you end up growing. :)
  
• Why don’t my custom seeds last longer?
  Because they're OP! Enjoy them while they last. :)


• How do I please the judges?
  Just keep growing plants. As your event progress increases, you will impress the judges more and more. You DO NOT need to place them in your garden if you don't wish to. The plants still count for progress.


• Does the Timey-Wimey watch or Time Turner affect the judges?
  No, judges do not have quest cooldowns, so trinket effects that work for quests will not apply to them.


• What adds to my event progress?
  Growing plants worth points and completing the side quests. To get the points from your plants, you don't even need to place them in your garden! Just grow them!


• Do I have to do the achievements?
  No. Completing the goals for the achievements is totally optional. You get either a large energy pack or a title for your character from them, no event progress.


• Where can I see all the achievements available and how to get them?
  Either on the holiday dialog, the achievements dialog, or on the blog.

Verthisathurgiesh Mehen is a dragonborn fighter, adoptive father of Havilar and Farideh, and a character from the Brimstone Angels D&D Novel series written by Erin M. Evans. He’ll be bringing his commanding presence to the Champion ranks next week during The Great Modron March!

III. Mehen's Design

We continue to be blessed to work with Erin M. Evans, and are excited to bring another one of her brilliant characters to life in our game! Mehen’s experience in the Lance Defenders as well as his work as a mercenary and monster hunter make him a formidable warrior, and his power becomes even more bolstered when fighting alongside his daughters. Brimstone Angels stick together and buff Mehen, while Exiled helps all three find the gold they need to continue their adventures.

IV. Mehen's Abilities

Basic Attack

• Double Strike — Mehen leaps out and attacks a random enemy with his Falchion, swinging down at first and then up with the second swing, scoring a hit each time.

Formation Abilities

• Grumpy — Mehen buffs Champions in his column and all columns in front of him based on the number of Grumpy stacks he has. He gains stacks based on the column he is in and loses stacks when himself, Farideh, or Havilar take or receive certain actions. The buff is significantly higher when he is close to 50 stacks (it falls off sharply on either side), and stacks cap at 100.
  • The column position determines the rate at which stacks are added: Front column +1 stack/second, Back column +5 stacks/second, Middle columns are prorated between 1-5 based on the column.
  • Stacks are removed based on the actions of Mehen, Farideh, or Havilar: if any of them attack -10% stacks (once per attack), if any of them take damage -10% stacks (4 seconds of shared cooldown), or if any of them get a kill with a base attack -5% stacks (triggers for each kill).
  • Work to adjust where Mehen, Farideh and Havilar are in your formation to find the best spot to gain stacks as quickly as you’re losing them!
  • This ability is buffed by upgrades, equipment, and feats. Buffs will apply to the post-stack value.

• Gruff — Mehen increases the effect of his Grumpy buff on Champions based on how many columns ahead of him they are. It is doubled for each column. This ability is buffed by upgrades, equipment, and feats. Buffs to this ability apply to the post-stack value.

• Exiled — Kills by Farideh, Havilar, or Mehen grant 200% more gold. Buffed by upgrades, equipment, and feats.

• Brimstone Angels — Increase the effect of Grumpy by 400% if Farideh is in the formation, and a further 400% if Havilar is in the formation. Buffs apply to the pre-stack value, and stack multiplicatively.

Specializations

• Cheer Up Pops — Increases the rate at which Grumpy stacks are added by 1 and increases the effect of Grumpy by 400%.

• We've Trained for This — Increase the effect of Exiled based on how far from the front of the formation Mehen is placed. Effect is increased by 20% for each column, stacking multiplicatively.

Ultimate Ability

• Lightning Breath — Mehen leaps forward and breaths a cone of lightning that damages all enemies on the screen. If he damages more than 5 enemies then his Grumpy stacks are set to 50 and he gains and loses stacks at a reduced rate for 30 seconds.

"We thought we were done with Barovia, but the mists have followed us!"

You may have thought you were done with Barovia, but Strahd and his minions have arrived in an attempt to thwart your adventurers! Rudolph Van Richten is accompanying you to try and help, but beyond listening and learning he doesn’t do much else.

Our latest Idle Champions update introduces ten new variants for the Grand Tour of the Sword Coast, Tomb of Annihilation, Waterdeep: Dragon Heist, Baldur's Gate: Descent into Avernus, and Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden campaigns. You will need to have completed the original adventures in order to unlock these variants.

Along with these new variants, we are also releasing Mists of Ravenloft, a Dungeons & Dragons fifth edition adventure for characters of 1st level! This tabletop version of Mists of Ravenloft is designed to be used as an introductory adventure for characters playing the Curse of Strahd campaign. Check out the PDF on our Encounters Page!

Grand Tour of the Sword Coast Variants

• Twilight Grove: The Misty Grove
Enter the Twilight Grove surrounded by the mists of Ravenloft.

You've saved the world, but Strahd is patient. Eternity is just a drop of time after all.

Head deeper into Undermountain, as the mists of Ravenolft encroach!

• The mists of Ravenloft have invaded Undermountain, infusing the entire area with an unnatural charm.
• Only Human, Halflings, Elves, and Dwarves can be used.
• Champions that are damaged by Mind Flayer enemies are stunned for 5 seconds.

• Deja Vu: Ireena von Zarovich
Defeat the nightmare version of Ireena that Strahd has staged within Alterdeep!
• Rudolph van Richten accompanies the Champions taking up a slot in the formation.
• Strahd has infiltrated Alterdeep and seeded a monster from our own nightmares!
• In each area of Alterdeep, a 5HP armored boss arrives. This vampire version of Ireena Kolyana is out for blood! Whenever a Champion attacks Ireena von Zarovich, they gain a blood drain debuff, losing 5% of their max HP every second.
• Blood drain debuffs are removed when you change areas or destroy Ireena.
• Reach area 350.

Baldur's Gate: Descent into Avernus

• Into the Fire: The Devil Arrives
Head into the wastelands and face Strahd head-on.
• Only Champions with DEX 14 or higher can be used.
• Rudolph van Richten accompanies the Champions taking up a slot in the formation.
• Strahd arrives on horseback in each boss area. He is invulnerable until the area boss is defeated. Strahd must be defeated to advance.
• Only Champions with INT of 14 or higher can be used.
• Reach area 350.


• Dreamscape: Zombie Dreams
Head into Lulu's memories to confront the waves of Strahd's Zombies!
• Rudolph van Richten accompanies the Champions taking up a slot in the formation.
• Strahd Zombies appear in each area between 26-50. They do not count towards quest progress, nor do they drop gold. Each time you re-encounter an area, the number of Strahd Zombies increases by 2!
• Reach area 375.

Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden

• Moose Tracks: CONtagious Cold
Enter Ten-Towns and defeat a squad of twig blights from Ravenloft!
• Rudolph van Richten accompanies the Champions taking up a slot in the formation.
• Frozen Twig Blights appear in each area and attempt to stop the Champions. They don't drop gold, nor do they count towards quest progress.
• Whenever a Frozen Twig Blight attacks a Champion, the entire formation is stunned for 1 second.
• Only Champions with CON 14 or higher can be used.
• Reach area 300.


• Civilization Variant 2: The Taunting Lord
Head to Termalaine and try not to think of the danger to come.
• Rudolph van Richten accompanies the Champions taking up a slot in the formation.
• The mists of Ravenloft have invaded Icewind Dale, infusing the entire area with an unnatural charm.
• Strahd taunts the Champions, foreshadowing their upcoming failure to save Ten-Towns.

Are you tired of hearing endless talk of 'Endless Dungeons' by the devs? Roll your eyes no more, as a mini-event demonstrating a lite version of Endless Dungeons is here! Delve into the Lost Woods!

What are Endless Dungeons?

'Endless Dungeon' is the technical term for a new system, where you enter the dungeon, complete puzzles in a series of small areas, and collect a special reward at the end, where you return to the entrance and can enter again.

When you click the entrance of a dungeon, you'll see the following popup with some details about your progress in the dungeon. Click the big arrow/doorway button to enter the dungeon!

Runs and Tiers

Each of these can be called a "run". Each run requires you complete an increasing number of areas to complete. The first might be 3 areas, the next 6, then 9, etc. These goals are called "Tiers" of the dungeon. You start at Tier 1, complete its 3 areas, and claim its reward to complete it. You can then enter it again at Tier 2.

Each area has a small reward in a silver chest, and each tier has a more unique or greater reward.

Some dungeons will have a maximum tier (like the Lost Woods), and some will not. And some dungeons will have increasing bush whacking costs (bush energy and mana whack), and some will not (like the Lost Woods).

Areas and Effects

Each area of a dungeon is randomly generated. The field, the decorations, visitors, where you enter and leave, and the 'Area Effects'.

What are Area Effects? There modifiers like what your trinkets, pets, mounts, and runes give you, but apply only when you're in the area. These could be positive or negative. Maybe increase energy odds, decreased power odds, or maybe something more weird.

If an area has effects, you can see what the area effect is by mousing over the 'E' star near your mana bar.

What are the Lost Woods?

The Lost Woods are an Endless Dungeon with a maximum tier of 9 and no increasing bush whacking costs. These limits are added so it can fit in the limited time period of a week long mini-event.

To accommodate the different bush whacking skills of early and veteran players, you can complete the event by Tier 3, but can continue on for unique rewards if you're able.

In the Lost Woods, you whack bushes to solve field puzzles, area by area, in search of lost fairies and earn rewards as you delve deeper and deeper! Enter it via the entrance in the Commons event area.

Lost Woods Mini Event (May 10th, 2021)

- Running a new mini event which demonstrates a lite version of the new Endless Dungeons system to be used in future permanent content. See Lost Woods blog for details.
