Idle Champions Event: Dragondown

Summer Solstice celebrations in Faerûn sometimes feature ceremonial bonfires and charms that attempt to 'tame' or 'drive down' dragons. These mock-spells and chanted prayers are performed even by non-clergy, as the sun sets after dusk. Unfortunately, it looks like these rituals are not working this year: somehow the village of Luskan has drawn the ire of a bronze dragon and its kin...

Dragondown is the thirteenth limited-time event for Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms. The event starts today and runs until Monday, June 25th at 12:00pm PDT, and introduces Binwin Bronzebottom, Dwarven Fighter/Barbarian!

New Champion: Binwin Bronzebottom

Binwin Bronzebottom was a member of a rather infamous adventuring group/company, until he left to spend more time with his family. A grumpy and headstrong dwarf with a penchant for springing traps rather than disarming them, if he's not the first into battle then he's disappointed. There's nary a door, tankard, or acid pit that hasn't felt the wrath of Binwin Bronzebottom at one time or another. These days, when he's not adventuring with the likes of Drizzt and Minsc, Binwin leads a small group of incompetent and eminently replaceable minions through perilous adventures.

When you want to add Binwin to your party, you can swap him with Nayeli or Gromma.

Dragondown Variants

  • Awaken the Beasts — Beasts move much more quickly and deal far more damage.

  • Binwin's Minions — Two of Binwin's Minions take up slots in the formation, decreasing the damage of adjacent Champions by 90% with the exception of Binwin, whom they buff by 400%. Binwin's Minions move to different slots in the formation every 20 areas.

  • Untrusting — The bronze dragon doesn't trust you to return her egg, so she continuously sends her Wyrmlings to keep an eye on you. Four different varieties of Wyrmling spawn at random.

Idle Champions: Introducing Dragon Heist

The Blackstaff of Waterdeep, Vajra Safahr, has summoned you to Waterdeep. Upon arrival in the city, the party is quickly caught in a web of Waterdhavian intrigue, including a street war between Zhentarim mercenaries and the Xanathar guild, and a dinner meeting with the Open Lord of Waterdeep...

Hot on the heels of the campaign announcement at the Stream of Many Eyes, we are excited to offer our fans the first opportunity to experience content from Waterdeep: Dragon Heist!

Waterdeep: Dragon Heist is the third permanent campaign for Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms. This update includes the first two new adventures for this ongoing campaign, A Mysterious Summons and Building Trust, each with one challenging variant. The City of Splendor awaits!

Note: you will need to complete at least 15 adventures in other campaigns in order to unlock the Waterdeep: Dragon Heist campaign.

A Mysterious Summons

The Blackstaff of Waterdeep, Vajra Safahr, has tasked Force Grey – and, by extension, the party – with patrolling the Dock Ward of Waterdeep.
  • Variant: Street War — When the party kills Zhentarim mercenaries, Xanathar mercenaries get stronger while Zhentarim become weaker, and vice-versa.

Building Trust

While being introduced to Laeral Silverhand, the Open Lord of Waterdeep, the dinner party is crashed by Zhentarim mercenaries.
  • Variant: Wisdom Check — Champion damage is increased or decreased based on their Wisdom. Scores of 10 or higher see a damage increase in damage while scores below 10 see a decrease in damage.

Idle Champions Event: The Great Modron March

Several times each century the clockwork plane of Mechanus mobilizes a vast wave of modrons and sends them on a tour of the cosmos. Known as The Great Modron March, this unstoppable tide of lawful constructs journeys across the material plane on the exact same route each time. However, this time something has changed — the modrons are marching on Waterdeep.

The Great Modron March starts today on Steam and Tablet for Android, runs until Monday, June 4th at 12:00pm PDT, and introduces Evelyn Marthain, the Human Paladin of Lathander!

Note: Apple iOS users will have to be patient with us as we work with Apple to make The Great Modron March available for iPad players as soon as possible.

New Champion: Evelyn Marthain

Caring, motherly, and endlessly optimistic, Evelyn has adventured across the realms as part of the Waffle Crew with Strix, Diath, and Paultin for many years. She's always first in battle, thanks to her flying boots, and will always take a hit to protect others. Short, yet tough, her devotion to Lathander has seen her through many perilous situations.

When you want to add Evelyn to your party, you can swap her with Asharra or Krond.

The Great Modron March Variants

  • The Neverending March — Every time a Modron is killed in non-boss areas it shuts down for five seconds and then comes back to life with full health.

  • (Hu)man vs. Machine — All human Champions get a buff called "The Human Spirit" which increases their damage by 5% in each area (stacking multiplicatively).

  • Charge Into Battle — Enemies move extremely fast and deal massive damage to everyone except Evelyn. Evelyn starts the adventure at level 1 and in the front slot of the formation.

Idle Champions: Tomb of Annihilation, Part 5

Thanks to the magic of the Aarakocra in the ancient monastery of Kir Sabal, the Champions are now able to make their way across Chult towards the fabled Lost City of Omu. As the journey to destroy the Soulmonger continues the danger only increases, and the party soon find themselves in conflict with a Yuan-ti warlord known as Ras Nsi.

Note: To start these new adventures, you need to have completed the Homecoming adventure.

The Forbidden City

The Aarakocra have offered the party safe passage across the jungle canopy via the magical Dance of the Seven Winds ritual. It is now time to travel to the Lost City of Omu, location of the Soulmonger, the powerful artifact you now know powers the Death Curse.
  • Variant: Periodic Petrification — every 15 seconds one of your Champions becomes petrified, stunning them for one minute.

Captured!

The party has been captured by the Yuan-ti warlord Ras Nsi. Luckily, a doppelganger employed by the Red Wizards of Thay helps the party to escape — but the party must fight their way free.
  • Variant: Home Field Advantage — Yuan-ti enemies power up each second they are alive.

Features:

  • Added two new Tomb of Annihilation adventures: The Forbidden City and Captured!, each with one variant. The first one, The Forbidden City, starts in Kir Sabal; these are very challenging adventures and variants. Note: to start these new adventures, you need to have completed the Homecoming adventure.

Idle Champions Event: The Running

A young Harper wizard has recruited the party to help her journey to the Grandfather Tree, a holy site for elves and other creatures. She has foreseen an acorn falling from the tree and wishes to take the holy relic to Silverymoon. However, the Grandfather Tree's acorn will not be easily won. The very forest itself opposes your quest, and no sooner have you entered the High Forest than the party is set upon by all manner of fey and forest creature...

The Running is our eleventh limited-time event, running until Tuesday, May 15th at 12:00pm PDT, and introducing Catti-brie, the Human Fighter!

New Champion: Catti-brie

"When I first laid eyes on Catti-brie, she had just punched a rather menacing fellow who was threatening to break every bone in my body. She hit the lout with such surprising force that he flopped to the floor like a sackful of mullet. Over the years, I’ve come to call her a friend. Underneath Catti-brie’s rough exterior lies a heart of gold. She cares deeply for her friends and will protect what she holds dear without fail. If she takes a shine to you, be sure to count your lucky pennies, because her enemies rarely fare well for long." ~Volothamp Geddarm

When you want to add Catti-brie to your party, you can swap her with Minsc.

The Running Variants

  • The Wolves in the Woods — Werewolves randomly spawn and attack the party, each with special abilities. Catti-brie's silver arrows deal double damage/hits to these creatures.

  • Critter Companions — Two forest critters take up slots in the formation, increasing the damage of adjacent Champions by 400% moving around every 25 areas.

  • Catti-alone — Catti-brie is the only Champion available for this mission. Her damage increases by 40% per area, stacking multiplicatively, her attack speed is greatly increased, and her Ultimate ability cooldown is reduced to 10 seconds.

Idle Champions: Grand Tour & Tomb Variants

Today's update includes the largest number of new variants we've ever released at once! There are three new Grand Tour of the Sword Coast variants and two new Tomb of Annihilation variants, each more challenging and devious than the last. In addition, this update includes new upgrades for all Champions and more than half a dozen commonly-requested quality of life fixes and features. Check out the Change Log for more details!

Grand Tour of the Sword Coast Variants

  • Escort to Waterdeep: Constant Banditry — Additional bandits spawn in every area but they don't drop gold.

  • Waterdeep Detours: Easily Distracted — Every 15 seconds a random Champion has their DPS disabled for 30 seconds. Squirrel!

  • Underdeep Cartography: Durable Deep — Monster health is replaced with five armored hits (bosses take 50).

Tomb of Annihilation Variants

  • The Templar's Camp: Poor Guidance — Your normal guide is unavailable! Instead, the party is stuck with an ill-informed guide taking up the center formation slot, and every 10 seconds the ill-informed guide disables the DPS of a random Champion for 20 seconds.

  • Rescue in the Jungle: Upholding the Law — Only lawful Champions may be used.

Features:

  • Added three new Variants for the Grand Tour of the Sword Coast Campaign: Constant Banditry, Easily Distracted, and Durable Deep.

  • Added two new Variants for the Tomb of Annihilation Campaign: Poor Guidance and Upholding the Law.

  • Added a panel to the reset screen that shows statistics about the completed adventure.

  • Monster types are now displayed when hovering over a monster, and hovering also brings their name and health bar to the front.

  • Added a new hotkey that toggles scientific notation (Y).

  • Free Play adventures now show the original adventure name in the quest display.

  • Selected level-up multiplier is now remembered through reloads.

  • Autoprogress is now turned on by default when starting a new adventure.

  • Added a Community Champion achievement for players that "showcase outstanding community leadership" (Does not appear or count towards achievement total if not earned).

  • If you get a golden item and already have a shiny item in that slot, you will now receive a bonus potion of polish which you can use to make a different item shiny.

Clarification (no actual change):

  • Barrowin's Blessed Hammer skill description changed to specify that it only buffs base attacks.

Balance Changes:

  • Added additional upgrades to all Champions, including a new "Bond" specialization choice for Asharra at level 350.

  • Zorbu's Favored Enemy upgrades now start with a 300% bonus damage instead of 100%.

Fixes:

  • Pressing 'Esc' while opening chests no longer closes the chest screen.

  • Fixed several typos. You've almost found them all, but several more remain. Keep searching!

  • Nrakk's ultimate description should now contain the correct buff amount based on all his ultimate bonuses (from gear, etc.)

  • The description for Nrakk's Deft Strike should now show the proper buffed value.

  • Fixed a case where the shiny effect on cards in the Blacksmith Contract dialog could animate incorrectly.

Coming Soon:

  • Fixes for offline gold and party DPS calculations with certain Champions.

Idle Champions Event: Greengrass

The start of spring is traditionally marked by a day of peace and rejoicing, featuring beautiful displays of flowers in celebration of Lathander, God of Spring and The Morninglord. Unfortunately for the town of Triboar on the Sword Coast, their celebrations are interrupted by the arrival of a githyanki raiding party...

Greengrass is our tenth limited-time event, running from today until Tuesday, April 24th at noon PDT, and introducing Nrakk, the Githzerai Monk!

New Champion: Nrakk

Having watched your party's progress for many years from Limbo, the Great Githzerai, Zaerith Menyar-Ag-Gith, has dispatched Nrakk to join your party on the Material Plane. Though his true motivations are unknown, Nrakk is a Way of the Kensei monk whose weapon of choice is a Naginata, making him a true force to be reckoned with on the battlefield. Reserved and aloof, Nrakk sometimes has a hard time interacting with those he sees as his lessers, but he nevertheless seems committed to the party's cause.

When you want to add Nrakk to your party, you can swap him with Delina or Hitch.

Greengrass Variants

  • Whispers — The Elder Brain slowly drives your Champions mad. Whenever a Champion lands a killing blow, they gain 5–10 stacks of a "Whispers" debuff. When they reach 100+ stacks, they are stunned for 15 seconds.

  • Flower Power — Sentient flower enemies spawn at random in non-boss areas. When killed, they imbue the champion who killed them with a random power, which can be good or bad.

  • Unlikely Allies — Two Githzerai monks take up slots in the formation. Each increases the DPS of Nrakk by 400% as long as he is adjacent to them, stacking multiplicatively.

Features:

  • Added the Greengrass event, our tenth limited-time campaign event! The event will run until Tuesday, April 24th at noon PDT.
  • Added a new Champion: Nrakk, the Githzerai Monk.
  • Added a new event Divine Favor: Lathander's Favor.

Idle Champions: Law Abiding Weekend

Whether you're good, evil, or neutral, everyone ought to respect the law. At least according to this weekend's buffed champions.



The following Champions will get a buff this weekend starting from today until Monday, April 9th at 12:00pm PDT.
  • Nayeli – Increases the effect of Nayeli's Aura of Protection and Aura of Courage abilities by 200%

  • Asharra – Increases Global Damage by 200%

  • Birdsong – Increases the effect of Birdsong's Song of Battle ability by 200%
