New Tier 7 Crusader: Audre DeLarveie

A long time ago, and just around the corner in a cozy little cottage, a dwarf and an elf loved each other very much and they had a daughter, whom they named Audre. They raised her with love and taught her to be kind and polite, but polite doesn't mean agreeing with everything people ask of her. She also developed a backbone.

One day, you're walking along the street and past the cottage where Audre is sitting outside with a table and a stack of pamphlets.

"Could I talk to you about people's rights?" she asks, holding out a pamphlet to you.

Intrigued, you read the pamphlet a bit. "This is really well-thought-out. What's the catch?"

She grimaces. "What do you mean, catch? Everyone deserves fair treatment, no matter their background or views, but we're not there yet. There's still more work to do."

You think about it for a second. "That makes sense. We could use your spirit," you say. "Wanna come with us? We travel through a lot of universes, you could get your message spread pretty far."

Audre crosses her arms and thinks for a minute, looking at her cottage. "March with pride across the multiverse? Count me in. Hannah, I'm going on an adventure!"

Hannah stepped out of the cottage and walked over to Audre and you. "Of course you are," she said, giving Audre a hug and kiss. "But come back from time to time, all right? I'll miss you."

"A herd of stampeding alien trash pandas couldn't keep me away," Audre smirked. "I'll come back in my downtime." Turning to you, she said, "Let's go!"

Audre has joined the party.

New Tier 7 Objectives

Recruit Audre DeLarveie | Audre DeLarveie takes up a slot in the formation. Rocky the Rockstar and Sally the Succubus take up spots in formation and can't be removed. Only 3 Crusaders at a time can do DPS. Note: This will require having cleared the objective Bullet Hell on Ready Player Two to complete. Beat area 650.

Big Game Meet and Greet | Warwick the Warlock and Katie the Cupid take up spots in formation and can't be removed. Truck occupies a spot in the formation. If there's an equal number of male and female Crusaders in the formation, the formation gets a 2e5% DPS boost. Note: This will require having cleared the objective Washed Up on World's Wake to complete. Beat area 750.

The Heart's Flames | Frankie the Demon Crooner and Ishtar take up spots in formation and can't be removed. Ishtar's Fire and Rain upgrade starts as purchased. All non-boss area quest requirements are now "Kill 10 of Ishtar's Fire Sprites." Note: This will require having cleared the objective Washed Up on World's Wake to complete. Beat area 800.

Chasms of Emotion | Alacrity the Matchmaker takes up a spot in formation and can't be removed. The formation has been changed. Note: This will require having purchased the max level of the Arithmagician Talent to complete. Beat area 850.

The Road to Self Care | Rosoideae takes up a spot in formation and can't be removed. Taskmasters can't be placed to click monsters. Four self-doubt golems spawn, each with an annoying ability. A life coach occupies a slot in the formation and provides a 100% gold buff for each golem killed, stacking additively. Note: This will require having purchased the max level of the Arithmagician Talent to complete. Beat area 900.

They’re a rose bush demon! What does that mean, what is their job? Trundle around every Valentine's distributing rose bouquets due to popular demand? Or the opposite - they visit now-flowerless rose bushes and console them?

Rosoideae is a tank rosebush, here to support other demon and flora Crusaders! When you want to bring them into your formation, you can find them in slot 32.

New Tier 6 Objectives

• Recruit Rosoideae |Rosoideae takes up a slot in the formation Rocky the Rockstar and Sally the Succubus take up spots in the formation and can't be moved. Only Rocky does DPS. Note: This will require having cleared the objective To Infinity and Beyond on Ghostbeard's Greed to complete. Reach area 600.


• Driver's License | Warwick the Warlock and Katie the Cupid take up spots in formation and can't be moved. The formation has been changed. Note: This will require having cleared the objective To Infinity and Beyond on Ghostbeard's Greed to complete. Reach area 650.


• Dearest 0x0000FF | Frankie the Demon Crooner takes up a spot in formation and can't be moved. Only Demon or Flora Crusaders can be used. Note: This will require having cleared the objective To Infinity and Beyond on Ghostbeard's Greed to complete. Reach area 675.


• Mom Cherry |Ishtar takes up a spot in formation and can't be moved. Only Royal Crusaders can be used. Tired Mom monsters spawn, living for a short amount of time, and don't count as a kill or drop items for area progress. Note: This will require having cleared the objective Bullet Hell on Ready Player Two to complete. Reach area 700.


• You Broke Me First |Alacrity the Matchmaker takes up a spot in formation and can't be moved. The formation only does DPS when Alacrity has all 3 Imps out. Note: This will require having cleared the objective Bullet Hell on Ready Player Two to complete. Reach area 725.

It's time for Merci's Mix-Up 5!

Merci's Mix-Up 5 runs until Wednesday, February 26th at 12PM PST, introducing Alacrity the Matchmaker and bringing back Rocky the Rockstar, Sally the Succubus, Warwick the Warlock, Katie the Cupid, Frankie the Demon Crooner, and Ishtar!

New Tier 5 Crusader: Alacrity the Matchmaker

Alacrity the Matchmaker isn't your stereotypical demon. They're bubbly, vivacious and willing to help out your team with their skills, and some help from their impish friends.

The flow of magic in your formation will affect Alacrity with the Metamorphosis Mastery upgrade. When you have more magical than non-magical tagged Crusaders next to Alacrity, they'll change into their female self. When it's more non-magical than magical adjacent, Alacrity will switch to their male self. If there's a even amount of magical and non-magical Crusaders around them, they'll remain their bubbly Non-Binary self.

Alacrity is so friendly, that they're able to summon 3 Imp friends to help them, and you, out:

• Summon Scamp - If Alacrity is adjacent to at least 2 Support tagged Crusaders, they'll summon Scamp. When Scamp is active, monster spawn speed is increased by 50%. This is buffed when Alacrity is in their male form, and can be buffed by their Love Meter equipment.


• Summon Trickster - When there are at least 2 Angel or Demon tagged Crusaders in the formation, Trickster will be summoned. While Trickster is around, they'll summon a special Imp monster every 10 seconds, which counts for area progress and drop extra gold when killed. Spawns will double when Alacrity is in their Non-Binary form and you can reduce the summoning timer by collecting Alacrity's Letterhead gear.


• Summon Scoundrel - When Alacrity is adjacent to at least 4 other Crusaders, Scoundrel will show up. Scoundrel provides the formation with a 50% global DPS buff per each adjacent Crusader, which is increased when Alacrity is female.


• Familiarity - The imps continue to help out with this upgrade, providing an extra buff to the gold find provided for having Crusaders who share tags with Alacrity in formation.

When you want to add Alacrity to your formation, you can find them in slot 31 on the bench, swapping with Bridget and Xygallix.

New Tier 5 Objectives

• Recruit Alacrity | Alacrity is chilling out in a slot in the formation and reduces all Crusaders DPS to 0 if there are an unequal number of Male and Female Crusaders in it.
  Reach area 400.


• Pairing Off | If any Crusaders have more than 1 Crusader adjacent to them, all DPS is zero.
  Reach area 450.


• A Pox on Commercialism | Only Valentine's hating Crusaders are available. Check the in-game Restrictions for the list of the available Crusaders.
  Reach area 475.


• 'Match' Maker | A fiery spirit occupies a spot in the formation. It deals damage over time to the highest and lowest DPS Crusaders in the formation, if there are two or more Crusaders in formation.
  Reach area 500.


• Valentine's Day | A bitter heart occupies a spot in formation and disables Crusaders if you hurt its feelings.
  Reach area 525.

Merci's Mix-Up 4 introduces Ishtar the Fire Queen, and brings back Rocky the Rockstar, Sally the Succubus, Warwick the Warlock, Katie the Cupid, and Frankie the Demon Crooner! The romance comes to a finish on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at 12:00PM PT!!

New Tier 4 Crusader: Ishtar the Fire Queen

Legends tell of Ishtar the Fire Queen, a supernatural fertility demon who knows just how to get the most out of each and every Crusader in her formation.

Ishtar's Fertile Thoughts increase Global DPS and her Starlight increases the potency of angels and demons. Her allure knows little bounds, as she is able to attract Fire Sprites that increase Gold Find and speed up quest progress.

Female Crusaders who follow Ishtar will see improvements to their DPS, as long as they don't become too close, and when Ishtar tells Whispered Stories, Global DPS increases for every Royal Crusader in the formation. Don't worry if you cannot find enough Royal Crusaders to boost your formation, for the glorious Ishtar is able to elevate worthy Crusaders to royalty — provided they first become close to The Fire Queen...

Crusaders Return

If you haven't collected them already, you can unlock previous Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 Crusaders by completing their respective objectives. Rocky the Rockstar, Sally the Succubus, Warwick the Warlock, Katie the Cupid, and Frankie the Demon Crooner are all once again available to unlock!

New Tier 4 Objectives

• Recruit Ishtar | Ishtar the Fire Queen starts in the formation. Meteors randomly strike the formation, and if Ishtar dies, you'll need to restart the Area. Reach area 600.


• I Put a Cantrip on You | Only The Bush Whacker, Nate Dragon, and the Crusaders from Merci's Mix-Up are available. Additional blue and green monsters spawn; killing the blue monster will cost Crusaders half their health, while killing the green one will improve Global DPS for 15 seconds. Reach area 700.


• Fly Me to the Stars | Three 'Stars' occupy slots in the formation, changing positions every 75 Areas. Each Star disables the DPS and formation abilities of adjacent Crusaders who are not an angel, demon, supernatural, magical, royalty, or a dragon. Reach area 750.


• My Funny Valentine Candy | Heart Candies spawn at random and are very difficult to kill. Each Heart Candy disables a random Crusader in the formation while it is alive. Reach area 800.


• Moon Dancing | The night is dark and the moon illuminates only two Crusaders at a time. Only the illuminated Crusaders are able to do DPS. Taskmasters are disabled. Reach area 850.

New Tier 3 Crusader: Frankie the Demon Crooner

Frankie the Demon Crooner is a debonair singer like no other: when he sings nearby Crusaders are empowered, gaining a boost to their DPS, and the more quickly monsters are defeated the greater the buffs Frankie bestows – up to a limit.

Crusaders Return

If you haven't collected them already, you can unlock our Tier One Crusaders Rocky the Rockstar and Sally the Succubus by completing the respective Tier One objectives. Then, you can collect the Tier Two Crusaders, Warwick the Warlock and Katie the Cupid, by completing the first two Tier Two objectives!

Five New Tier 3 Objectives!

• Recruit Frankie the Demon Crooner | Frankie takes up a slot in the formation. His demonic singing disables the DPS of all Crusaders within 2 slots of him. He moves around the formation every 50 areas. Reach area 500.


• Swoon | Only Frankie and female Crusaders may be used. Reach area 600.


• Three's a Crowd | All Crusaders reduce the DPS of adjacent Crusaders by 50%, stacking additively (aka more than 1 adjacent Crusader = 0 DPS). Reach area 650.


• Lovesickness | Every area a random Crusader is affected (if possible) by Lovesickness, which disables their DPS and Formation Abilities. It lasts for 30 seconds and spreads to an adjacent Crusader of the opposite gender every 15 seconds (2 spreads per infection). Crusaders cannot be affected by Lovesickness for 2 minutes after it expires (either from spreading or from entering a new area). Lasts through area transitions. Reach area 700.


• Matchmaker | Every 15 seconds one female and one male Crusader are randomly chosen from those in the formation. Those are the only Crusaders who do DPS for the next 15 seconds. (protip: can force one pick if you only have one male or one female in your formation). Reach area 750.

Love is in the air again and to celebrate the most romantic date in the calendar, we're relaunching the Merci's Mix-up event. This time with two new Tier 2 romantic leads and three new Tier 2 objectives.

It's time to get romantic. The Merci's Mix-up event runs from today through to February 21st at Noon PST. For those players who haven't unlocked them already, this is your chance to add both Rocky and Sally to your roster.

Of course, as this is a 2017 update of the original event you can also collect two new Crusaders: Warwick the Warlock and Katie the Cupid.

New Tier Two Crusader: Warwick the Warlock.

The first of the two new Tier 2 Crusaders is Warwick the Warlock. This mischievous leprechaun replaces The Bush Whacker as the main clicker. At level 100, his ability Soul Harvest spreads the click damage to all enemies in a small radius around your click.

At level 400, Warwick unlocks Curse of Weakness where enemies damaged by your clicks take 100% more damage from your DPS for 5 seconds.

New Tier Two Crusader: Katie the Cupid.

When it comes to the business of love, opposites do attract. Katie the Cupid is all sweetness and light compared to Warwick. At level 150, she unlocks Cupid's Arrow and shoots a random enemy with a love arrow every 5 seconds for 200% Global DPS. At level 400 her Snugglin' ability gives +15% Gold Find for each adjacent male crusader, up to a maximum of 2 (Max 2x30% w/ Epic)

After you've completed the first new Tier Two objectives for Warwick and Katie, there are three more objectives to keep you busy.

New Tier Two Objective: The Bachelorette.

In The Bachelorette a bachelorette takes up a spot in your formation. Every 25 levels, she sends one bench seat packing (in a fixed order), making it unavailable in subsequent levels all the way to area 400.

New Tier Two Objective: It's Raining Men.

In the objective, It's Raining Men only male crusaders are allowed. That's it. Do your best Weather Girls impression and fend off all your new admirers to reach area 450.

New Tier Two Objective: The Cost of Love.

The final new Tier Two objective is The Cost of Love. Now Crusaders cost much more than normal and enemies drop less gold until you beat area 500.

Equipment for both Tier 1 and 2 Crusaders can be found in Valentines Silver and Jeweled Chests. However, gear for the Tier 2 Crusaders will only appear once you've unlocked the respective Crusader.

You'll have until February 21st at Noon PST to complete the event. Let Love Rule!

It's Valentines Day for Merci, but being a Mad Wizard can be a lonely life. Merci's decided to mend his loneliness in the only way he knows how: by mixing up a fix-all love potion! Unfortunately, while preparing his concoction he swiped left instead of right. The resulting concatenation of amorous ardour and wayward magic opened a portal to Super Love Land and beyond.

Just like your real life preparation for Valentine's Day, your mission is to complete five new objectives by using the new Heart formation and slaying legions of monsters. We're pretty sure that's how it works, right?

Rocky the Rockstar



Fittingly for the ultimate celebration of romance, we have two new Crusaders for you to entice and add to your roster. Rocky, the Rockstar, is a swirling ball of testosterone, whose raw sexual power is tempered only by his genuine charm. The Juliet to this Romeo is the second new Crusader, Sally the Succubus, the winsome demon who leaves an army of admirers in her wake.

Rocky's talents include boosting his DPS by having female Crusaders around him, starting at 25% and increasing up to a deafening 250% per lady with his normal Epic equipment, and even further to 350% with his Golden Epic.

Sally includes the ability increase her own DPS up to a maximum of +300%. However, beware of putting female Crusaders next to her as it'll reduce her DPS by 25% per fellow lady. However, her other skill boosts all female Crusaders' DPS by 20%. Can you find the perfect spot for her in your formation?

We also have three additional objectives. Broken Hearted requires 500 idols to play and sees the love-lorn Crusaders heart formation split in two with the three middle slots taken up by a crack.

Backstage Pass requires 1,000 idols and only allows you to choose Rocky and female Crusaders. Furthermore, two slots are taken up with Rocky's band equipment.

The final event objective, Dangerous Allure only allows your to choose Sally the Succubus and male Crusaders and requires 1,500 idols to play. In a unique twist, the slots in the formation will steadily be taken over by zombies the further you progress!

New Objective: Backstage Pass



Continuing our tradition of recognizing some of our more famous fans, this event we're honoring regular streamer, Tedessence. Ted has been with us almost since launch and has been producing a constant stream of Let's Play videos on Twitch which you can check out here.

You'll be able to find his avatar as a boss monster in the Valentine's Day event. Pass on our love for him by smiting him down in Crusaders' fashion.

Merci's Mix-Up event will run until February 23rd to give you plenty of time to woo those objectives into submission.

Sharp-eyed players who have a love of classic anime might recognize one of Merci, the Wizard's first upgrade descriptions. It's a line taken from the famous Japanese animated comic, Fullmetal Alchemist.



If you're not familiar with the books and animated series, it centers around an alternate universe where alchemy is the most advanced scientific discipline.

Today, we know alchemy as a precursor to modern chemistry and a pseudo-scientific and philosophical movement. Specifically, alchemy is the pursuit of transforming base metals into noble metals, like gold, and the ongoing mission to find elixirs to achieve eternal life.



The quote from Merci's upgrade comes from the core philosophical proposition in Fullmetal Alchemist. Here's the full quote:

"Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only truth."

To put it simply, you get out what you put into life.
