Idle Champion Spotlight: Brig Hellclaw
Posted in Idle Champions.

This former roadie is an accomplished bard who is happy to support the band, but when necessary he'll get up close and personal to smash his guitar into anyone who'd crash a performance!

Brig Hellclaw is a human bard/rogue who was chasing an almiraj one day when he encountered the Sirens of the Realms. Now he's a full member of the group, and while he's normally an easy going support kind of guy he's always ready to get down to business when the band needs something done. He joins the Champions next week during Liar's Night!

I. Brig Hellclaw

Dungeons & Dragons Brig Hellclaw

Harbinger of mayhem and music, Brig Hellclaw causes mischief anywhere he goes. As a member of The Sirens of the Realms, he's always on the lookout for the next place to perform. He prefers singing over combat, but when fighting is inevitable, he's all in! Together with his Almiraj pet Spikey, when Brig's on the loose you never know what to expect! His trusty wand of wonder could bring a curse or a boon, but it's all in another day's work for Brig!

A Rogue, a Bard and a Support Champion, Brig is best right in the thick of it, surrounded by allies fighting enemies. When you want to add him to your formation, you can swap him with Nayeli (Slot 3)

II. Brig’s Stats

Race: Human Alignment: Chaotic Good
Gender: Male Pronouns: He/Him
Class: Rogue/Bard Age: 38

STR: 14 DEX: 16 CON: 12
INT: 12 WIS: 13 CHA: 16

Slot: 3 (Nayeli)

Dungeons & Dragons Brig

III. Brig's Design

It's been amazing to work with Jason Charles Miller on Bardic Inspiration, who has more than two decades of professional experience in music and voice acting. He has received two Gold Record Awards, one for his Godhead song “Penetrate” featured in Queen of the Damned, and another for “The End Has Come” featured in The Punisher movie. You can hear his brilliant composing skills and dulcet tones on Bardic Inspiration Vol 1, available for free to listen to in the in-game jukebox as well as purchase and download on Steam and Epic! And now to add his character as a Champion in our game has been especially wonderful!

Brig is the perfect addition to any bardic performance, buffing everyone in the formation with his Hype and playing a Rallying Chord to keep the energy high. While he's an amazing back up singer, when he has a chance to Solo you know he'll bring the house down!

IV. Brig's Abilities

Basic Attack

  • War Lute — Brig leaps out and smashes a random enemy with his metallic guitar.

Formation Abilities

  • Hype — Brig increases the damage of everyone in the formation by 100%. This value is increased based on his Hype stacks. For each Hype stack, the buff is increased by 10%, stacking additively and then applying multiplicatively.
  • Rallying Chord — Brig's Hype is increased by 5 while at least one enemy has been defeated in the past 10 seconds. If no enemy has been defeated in the last 20 seconds, Brig gains 1 Hype each time a unique Champion attacks, up to a maximum of 10 Hype.
  • Inspired Bard — Brig's Hype is increased by 1 for each adjacent Champion. It increases by an additional stack for each adjacent Champion whose listed attack damage is higher than his.
  • Critical Moment — Brig's Hype is increased by 1 for every 5 enemies on the screen, rounded up (i.e. 1-5 enemies = 1 stack, 6-10 enemies = 2 stacks, 96-100 enemies = 20 stacks, etc.). It is increased by an additional 10 whenever a boss enemy is on the screen.
  • Volume Up — Increase the damage bonus of Hype based on the highest number of Hype stacks that Brig has ever had at once. The increase is 5% per Hype stack, stacking multiplicatively before applying.

Specializations

  • "Back"-Up Singer — Brig gains 2 Hype stacks for each Champion in front of him in the formation.
  • Cream of the Crop — Brig gains 2 Hype stacks for each Champion in the formation whose listed attack damage is lower than himself.

Ultimate Ability

  • Solo — Brig performs a killer solo, with flashing lights and musical notes flying everywhere, damaging and pushing enemies back with massive sound power. For the next 30 seconds, Brig's Hype stacks are increased by 11.

Idle Champion Spotlight: Orisha
Posted in Idle Champions.

A gleaming aasimar with flaming wings and flowing white robes descends into battle, singing her songs with an inciting voice.

Orisha is an aasimar whose Radiant Soul brings divine fury to the battlefield with style and grace. When her Flaming Wings ignite, Orisha gains a stacks buff that increases with each kill.

I. Orisha

Dungeons & Dragons Orisha Krystina Arielle

A glamorous diva possessed by a Deva, with an inciting voice and gleaming pristine robes, Orisha is the lead vocalist of the Sirens of the Realms, her found family. She is of such great renown, that she needs no last name.

Strong as a solo artist, Orisha can be used as a DPS, or as a Support when used in combination with her fellow Siren Vlahnya. When you want to add her to your formation, you can swap her with Jamilah (Slot 11).

II. Orisha's Stats

Race: Aasimar Alignment: Neutral Good
Class: Cleric/Bard Gender: Female
Age: 30 Affiliation: none

STR: 14 DEX: 13 CON: 10
INT: 13 WIS: 17 CHA: 17

Role: DPS, Support
Eligible for Patrons: Mirt the Moneylender, Strahd von Zarovich
Slot: 11, (Jamilah)

Dungeons & Dragons Orisha

III. Orisha's Design

We are absolutely thrilled to work with Krystina Arielle, who you may know from Sirens of the Realms, Star Wars The High Republic, co-host of our very own Improvised Champions, and one of the stars of Idle Champions Presents: The Unfair Seas.

As a member of the Sirens of the Realms, Orisha joins her fellow Siren Vlahnya Um'vairar on the Idle Champions roster. A glamorous vocalist, her robes always remain pristine, even in the heat of battle, which she never shies away from the thick of.

Solo, Orisha is a DPS champion whose ultimate Radiant Soul ignites her wings, increasing her damage. Every time she gets a kill her wings return to full power, slowly decreasing in power over time. Her wings can be buffed to be more powerful or to remain alight for longer based on specialization choices.

When Orisha is joined on the field by fellow Siren Vlahnya, Orisha can be used as a Support Champion instead, or continue to be used as a DPS Champion. With Bardic Connection Champions along the shortest path(s) between Orisha and Vlahnya are massively buffed, and Vlahnya's stacks degrade slower than they otherwise would.

IV. Orisha's Abilities

Basic Attack

  • Scorching Ray — Orisha summons three rays of fire and hurls them at up to three random targets.

Formation Abilities

  • Flaming Wings — Whenever Orisha uses her Radiant Soul Ultimate her angel wings burst aflame and Flaming Wings gains 30 stacks. Stacks decrease by 1 per second. The damage of Scorching Ray is increased by 100% plus 10% for every stack remaining (stacking additively), and when there are no stacks left her wings disappear and the damage bonus is removed. If any of Orisha's Scorching Rays kill an enemy, the stacks reset to 30, but the rate at which they decrease is increased by 20%, stacking multiplicatively. This can only occur once per attack. If Radiant Soul is used again before this ability expires the number of stacks and the rate of decrease are reset. This ability can be buffed by upgrades, equipment, and feats. Buffs apply to the total damage bonus to Scorching Ray.
  • Bardic Connection — Orisha seeks out Vlahnya in the formation and increases the damage of Champions along the shortest path(s) (via formation slot adjacencies) between herself and Vlahnya by 400%. If Vlahnya is not in the formation, this ability applies to only adjacent Champions at only 25% effectiveness. This ability can be buffed by upgrades, equipment, and feats.
  • Diva Mode — Whenever there is a boss monster on the screen, Orisha's Flaming Wings and Bardic Connection abilities are increased by 100%. This ability can be buffed by upgrades, equipment, and feats.

First Specializations

The first set of specializations deal with Flaming Wings:
  • Blazing Soul — The effect of Flaming Wings is increased by 200%.
  • Long Burn — Flaming Wings starts with and refills to 50% more stacks.

Second Specializations

The second set of specializations modify Bardic Connection:
  • Sirens' Connection — The effect of Bardic Connection is increased by 200%.
  • Fierce Connection — Orisha's damage is increased by 100% for each other Champion affected by Bardic Connection (stacking multiplicatively) and if Vlahnya is in the formation, her Enthralling Performance buff now always applies to Orisha, and Orisha counts as adjacent to her for the purpose of the Bass portion, regardless of their positions in the formation.

Ultimate Ability

  • Radiant Soul — Orisha eyes light aglow and two angel wings burst from her back (lighting aflame if she has Flaming Wings unlocked). A wave of divine energy surges across the screen damaging all enemies.

V. Orisha's Legendary Equipment

Slot 1: Self DPS
Slot 2: Global DPS
Slot 3: Buff Flaming Wings
Slot 4: Buff Bardic Connection
Slot 5: Buff Diva Mode
Slot 6: Ultimate Cooldown

VI. Conclusion

What do you think about Orisha? If you have feedback, let us know in a Community Q&A or Champion feedback post on the Idle Champions Subreddit, on the Steam forums, or on the Official Idle Champions Discord!

Idle Champions: Feast of the Moon 4
Posted in Idle Champions.

During Feast of the Moon, residents of the Sword Coast pay homage to the deeds of legendary heroes by visiting their crypts and graves.

When the Champions arrive at The Crypt of Legends, they find hordes of undead crawling up from the depths. Something is making the dead heroes rise, and the answer will require a descent into the depths to discover the cause...

Feast of the Moon 4 introduces Penelope "Half-Pint", Circle of the Moon Druid and Warlock from D&D Beyond's Silver & Steel & Beyond Heroes, and brings back Sentry, the Warforged Paladin (Oath of the Ancients) from High Rollers: Aerois and Vlahnya Um'vairar, the Eladrin Bard/Wizard. Players have until Monday, November 23rd at 12PM Pacific to complete their Feast of the Moon 4 unlocks and objectives.

For more information about Year 4 Events and how they work, please check out our Year 4 Events Dev Blog.

New Champion: Penelope "Half-Pint"

Penelope's Bio

Penelope "Half-Pint" is a halfling who just wants to be everyone's best friend, even if they are evil, or a plant, or a rock. With friends that already include a treant named Neverember and a clan of chwinga that have adopted her, Penelope is ready for anything! She has the heart of a true hero and will always stand by her friends until she goes into shrub mode of course.

II. Penelope's Stats

Race: Halfling Alignment: Chaotic Good
Class: Druid (Circle of the Moon)/ Warlock Gender: Female
Age: 33 Affiliation: none

STR: 10 DEX: 16 CON: 14
INT: 8 WIS: 17 CHA: 14

Role: Support, Gold Find, Healing

Eligible for Patrons: Mirt the Moneylender, Vajra Safahr

Slot: 12, (Arkhan)

Penelope's Abilities

Penelope is a naive, young, happy go lucky halfling who just wants to be your friend. She is a Support, Gold Find, and Healing Champion who buffs Champions based on their role(s) and alignment, and she does it all with a skip in her step!

With Have You Met My Friends, Penelope tags enemies she can't kill so her friends can finish the job. Chwinga Mask allows her to call chwingas to her aid. While enemies are attacking, Penelope panics and dons the mask. A Chwinga friend appears on her shoulder and grants charms to adjacent Champions based on their tags. Tanks will heal a percentage of health every second. Support, Healer, and Gold Find champions will buff Global Damage. Story Time augments Chwinga Mask, based on how efficiently her friends are killing enemies.

Her specializations focus on her ability to make friends with everyone, buffing Have You Met My Friends by increasing the damage of the formation based on the alignment on the Good-Evil axis. Her second specialization augments her basic attack to include an additional terrain changing effect. Minor Eruption adds a small radius of area of effect damage, leaving difficult terrain underneath her enemies. Hey Batter Batter increases her knockback by four times against non-boss enemies and her damage is increased by 200%. Her ultimate has her casting Erupting Earth, creating difficult terrain to slow and wound enemies.

For more information on Penelope and her abilities, check out her Champion Spotlight!

Year Four Variants

  • Half-Empty Crypts — Half of the crypts are empty! We've interrupted some grave robbing! A collection of Grave Robbers appear in each area. They don't drop gold, nor do they count towards quest progress. While one or more Grave Robber is alive, Undead Creatures move 100% faster and deal 200% additional damage.
    Reach Area 75.

  • Half-Full Outlook — If we're going to make such a mess, let's clean up as we go! In each wave, Awakened Cleaning Supplies spawn. Awakened Cleaning Supplies deal 200% additional damage and spawn with 4 hits-based health chunks. However, Penelope and her positive outlook can destroy each of these enemies with one hit. Penelope starts in the formation. She can be moved. Reach Area 125.

  • Half-Pint Friends — Penelope starts in the formation and can't be moved. Penelope's base attack cooldown is reduced by 2 seconds. Only Good champions can be used.

Idle Champions: Feast of the Moon 3
Posted in Idle Champions.

During Feast of the Moon, residents of the Sword Coast pay homage to the deeds of legendary heroes by visiting their crypts and graves.

When the Champions arrive at The Crypt of Legends, they find hordes of undead crawling up from the depths. Something is making the dead heroes rise, and the answer will require a descend into the depths to discover the cause...

Feast of the Moon 3 introduces Sentry, the Warforged Paladin (Oath of the Ancients) from High Rollers: Aerois, and brings back Vlahnya Um'vairar, the Eladrin Bard/Wizard, and Gromma Nander, the Tortle Druid. Players have until Monday, November 18th at 12PM Pacific to complete their Feast of the Moon 3 unlocks and objectives.

New Champion: Sentry

Sentry, protector of the Kingdom of Solwynn, is an ancient relic on her plane. Long ago, a dark power obliterated Sentry's peaceful home, forcing her to power down until a new purpose could wake her. Now, with her ceremonial axe, and memories of Solwynn guiding her, Sentry devotes herself to protecting the friends fighting alongside her. Despite being thrust into a new world eons beyond the one she knew, Sentry defends the good of the world from the dark reaches of evil’s grasp. She will not fail again.
Sentry is a Support and Tanking Champion who buffs DPS while at the front of the formation with her Guardian of Solwynn ability. She also uses Create Echo to summon a companion who can increase healing received, speed up progress, and further boost formation DPS. When you want to add Sentry to the formation, you can swap her with Jarlaxle (Slot 4).

For more information about our latest Champion, check out the Idle Champion Spotlight: Sentry dev blog!

Year 2 Champion: Vlahnya Um'vairar

Fate Weaver, Spy mistress, New Olamn college of whispers instructor, Band Manager of Sirens of the Realms & Magic Missile, long time pal of Durnan. This noble looking Eladrin Elf has friends in high and low places. Her true origins are unknown though it is rumored she traveled across FaerÈ—n with a bard troupe and learned about the world one tavern at a time.

Vlahnya is a Support Champion, able to buff Champions in columns ahead of her with Enthralling Performance. The more harmonious the party, the greater the buff. When you want to add Vlahnya to your party, you can swap her with Delina (Slot 8).

For more information about our latest Champion, check out the Idle Champion Spotlight - Vlahyna dev blog!

Year 1 Champion: Gromma Nander

A wise Tortle matriarch, Gromma Nander is an elderly Circle of the Land Druid with nearly one hundred grandchildren. She has picked up many skills over her long life, and is able to fulfill DPS, support, or tanking roles in a formation. No matter her specialization, Gromma has a particular grandmotherly fondness for young members of any race, and will empower members of her party, with the youngest receiving the greatest boost.

Gromma is a versatile Tank and Support Champion. Her Druid Circle specializations offer different tanking options depending on the situation, while her Grandmotherly Love formation ability buffs your party, with the youngest Champions receiving the greatest benefit. When you want to add Gromma to your party, you can swap her with Nayeli (Slot 3).

Year Three Variants

  • Strike While It's Hot — Enemies spawn with an effect called "Hardening Iron;" after every 2 seconds they're alive, they take 50% less damage from all sources, stacking multiplicatively.
    Reach Area 75.

  • Ride-Along — Sentry starts out in the formation and can not be moved, removed, or swapped out. Two more slots are occupied by two frightened villagers who started out pretty excited about being able to go on patrol with the Champions, but have since changed their minds.
    Reach Area 75.

  • Tempered Foes — Enemies that are damaged but not killed have their speed and damage increased by 100% and instantly heal one third of their missing health; this effect can stack multiple times but does not apply to static or hits-based/armor-based enemies.
    Reach Area 175.

Year Two Variants

  • Inevitable Betrayal — Skeletal warriors accompany you in your adventures through the crypt of legends. They take up 2 slots in the formation. While they are both 'alive' the champions deal 50% less damage.
    Reach Area 75.

  • Siren's Song — A doppelganger has taken on the guise of Vlahnya and is filling the crypt with dissonant tunes, waiting to destroy Vlahnya and take her place. Vlahnya starts the adventure in your party. This Doppel-Vlahnya appears in each area, stunning Champions, and only the true Vlahnya can deal damage to her until she reverts to her Doppelganger form.
    Reach Area 125.

  • Undead Legends — Additional undead stalk the Champions within the crypt. Additional boss monsters appear in each boss area, including some legendary bosses from your past, present, and/or fugure. This variant features unique dialogue.

Year One Variants

  • Respectful Restraint — Ultimate Attacks are disabled, and any attacks with a cooldown of 5 seconds or less have an additional 3 second cooldown (so a 4 second cooldown becomes 7 seconds, but a 6 second cooldown stays at 6 seconds). These lengthened attacks don't do any additional damage due to their longer cooldown.
    Reach Area 75.

  • The Relentless Undead — Undead monsters have their health doubled, and when they take a killing blow, they are stunned for 10 seconds before coming back to life (they still drop gold and quest items and count towards the quest each time they are killed).

  • A Grand Nandventure — Gromma Nander is forced to be in your formation. She starts at level 1 in your formation right away alongside Bruenor (or Deekin). Gromma cannot be removed from the formation or moved from her formation seat. She has a 4x damage boost and her normal attack cooldown is reduced by 2 seconds.
    Reach Area 175.

See the in-game FAQ for more information!
