Idle Champion Spotlight: Lucius Elenasto
Posted in Idle Champions.

Lucius Virion-Elluin Elenasto is a High Elf Sorcerer, an Arcane Chromat making his debut during Simril 4. Lucius joins his companions on the Idle Champions roster, the Heroes of Aerois; Aila, Qillek, Sentry, and Nova V'Ger.

I. Lucius Virion-Elluin Elenasto

Dungeons & Dragons Lucius Elenasto High Rollers

Lucius Virion-Elluin Elenasto was born to high nobility. He thought he knew what he was getting into when he joined the Heroes of Aerois, but then he met his first cow. Dreadful, evil creatures.

Lucius is slowly coming out of his nobility shell as he continues to learn the true value of comradery, friendship, and a world without barriers.

Lucius is played by Chris Trott, a member of The High Rollers D&D crew, based in the UK. The High Rollers stream each week at the High Rollers Twitch page. For more info on Nova, the High Rollers crew, and the homebrew world of Aerois created by professional dungeon master Mark Hulmes, check out the High Rollers Aerois wiki. Lucius is the final member of High Rollers: Aerois to join Idle Champions! With the team complete, this also brings an update to Nova V'Ger's Aerois Synergy. Check her Champion Spotlight for the details.

Lucius is a DPS Champion with a colorful style. As a trained Arcane Chromat, Lucius uses the colors of the world around him to fuel his magical power, focusing on acid and cold spells. When you want to add Lucius to your formation, you can swap him with Minsc (Slot 7).

II. Lucius' Stats

Race: Elf Alignment: Lawful Neutral
Class: Sorcerer Gender: Male
Age: 76 Affiliation: Heroes of Aerois

STR: 13 DEX: 14 CON: 13

Dungeons & Dragons Lucius

III. Lucius' Design

It's always fun to work closely with a creator to make their character come to life, and just like the rest of the High Rollers: Aerois cast, Chris Trott was no exception. Chris provided us with a depth of material to draw from, and we were especially delighted to incorporate Lucius' unique style of fighting using his heterochromia, with alternating Acid Splash and Ray of Frost attacks, and further with Arcane Chromat - Acid and Arcane Chromat - Cold debuffs combining in an explosion with Elemental Adept.

Lucius is the final piece of the Aerois team, and with Aerois Synergy he is buffed by his teammates. A glass cannon, Lucius's unique fighting style causes area of effect devastation to his enemies, but he falls apart if harmed in combat. A young, sheltered noble, Lucius has a fabulous style, our artists were delighted to work on Lucius' colorful wardrobe and a really gorgeous skin that Aerois fans may recognize!

IV. Lucius' Abilities

Basic Attack

Lucius alternates between two attacks, both of which are augmented by formation abilities to add additional effects to damaged enemies.
  • Acid Splash — Lucius attacks the furthest enemy with Acid Splash, dealing damage.
  • Ray of Frost — Lucius attacks a random enemy with Ray of Frost, dealing damage and also damaging all enemies along a line between him and the enemy.

Formation Abilities

  • Arcane Chromat - Acid — Enemies damaged by Acid Splash take 10% of Lucius's damage every second. This damage over time lasts until the enemy dies or is removed by Elemental Adept. The damage caused by this ability can be buffed by upgrades (including Aerois Synergy), feats, and equipment.
  • Arcane Chromat - Cold — Enemies damaged by Ray of Frost are slowed by 50% for 10 seconds and take 100% more damage from all attacks while affected. The damage increase can be buffed by upgrades (including Aerois Synergy), feats, and equipment.
  • Elemental Adept — When an enemy is affected by both of Lucius' Arcane Chromat abilities they are stunned and frozen in place for 3 seconds. After 3 seconds they explode with acid, taking damage. This also consumes both Arcane Chromat debuffs on the enemy and spreads the Arcane Chromat - Acid debuff to all nearby enemies who don't already have it. Each time the ability causes an enemy to explode it increases Elemental Adept's stacks by 1. Stacks cap at 100 and reset to 0 when changing areas. The damage done is equal to Elemental Adept stacks over 5 seconds (rounded up) worth of Arcane Chromat - Acid damage over time damage, plus any specialization bonus.
  • Aerois Synergy — Lucius contributes to the Aerois Synergy Pool as follows: 100% per stack of Elemental Adept. The damage of Arcane Chromat - Acid is then increased by 25% of the total Aerois Synergy Pool.

Specializations

  • Dichromancy — Lucius focuses on increasing the damage dealt by the combination of his two elements. Increase the explosion damage of Elemental Adept by 25%
  • Elemental Master — Lucius specializes in increasing his maximum Elemental Adept stacks by 50(and therefore his contribution to Aerois Synergy).
  • Lingering Chill — Lucius focuses on maintaining some of his Elemental Adept stacks when changing areas, increasing the consistency of his Aerois Synergy contribution. Only half of Lucius' Elemental Adept stacks are cleared when changing areas.

Ultimate Ability

  • Prismatic Spray — Eight multicoloured rays flash from Lucius' hand in a cone shape. Each enemy in the cone takes damage and receives both the Arcane Chromat - Acid and Arcane Chromat - Cold debuffs, triggering Elemental Adept.

V. Lucius' Legendary Equipment

Slot 1: Self DPS
Slot 2: Self DPS
Slot 3: Arcane Chromat - Acid
Slot 4: Arcane Chromat - Cold
Slot 5: Ultimate Damage
Slot 6: Ultimate Cooldown

Idle Champions: Descent into Avernus, Part 8
Posted in Idle Champions.

Bel has one final task for us as we attempt to get our plan to save Elturel in order. Along the way, we encounter Zariel for the first time...

Note: you will need to have completed the previous two Descent into Avernus Adventures, Questlines and Bel's Forge, in order to access these new Adventures.

Dungeons & Dragons Baldur's Gate: Descent into Avernus

The Sibriex

Follow Bel's instructions and find the Sibriex before it's too late for Elturel.
  • Variant: The Archduke's Blessing — Follow Bel's instructions while a cultist of Zariel preaches to your enemies.
    • A Cultist of Zariel arrives in each area to celebrate Zariel. The cultist has 4 armored hit points and deals 300% additional damage.
    • While the Cultist of Zariel is on screen, bosses cannot be damaged.
    • Reach area 500.

Wrecked Flying Fortress

Explore the flying fortress to find the adamantine rods for Bel.
  • Variant: Relentless Peril — Explore the flying fortress while ghouls from Elturel haunt your thoughts. The Champions worry about Elturel as their quest drags on. Elturel Ghouls now attack in each area. They have twice as much health as normal and, when they take a killing blow, they are stunned for 10 seconds before coming back to life.
    Reach area 525.

Idle Champions: Feast of the Moon 4
Posted in Idle Champions.

During Feast of the Moon, residents of the Sword Coast pay homage to the deeds of legendary heroes by visiting their crypts and graves.

When the Champions arrive at The Crypt of Legends, they find hordes of undead crawling up from the depths. Something is making the dead heroes rise, and the answer will require a descent into the depths to discover the cause...

Feast of the Moon 4 introduces Penelope "Half-Pint", Circle of the Moon Druid and Warlock from D&D Beyond's Silver & Steel & Beyond Heroes, and brings back Sentry, the Warforged Paladin (Oath of the Ancients) from High Rollers: Aerois and Vlahnya Um'vairar, the Eladrin Bard/Wizard. Players have until Monday, November 23rd at 12PM Pacific to complete their Feast of the Moon 4 unlocks and objectives.

With Have You Met My Friends, Penelope tags enemies she can't kill so her friends can finish the job. Chwinga Mask allows her to call chwingas to her aid. While enemies are attacking, Penelope panics and dons the mask. A Chwinga friend appears on her shoulder and grants charms to adjacent Champions based on their tags. Tanks will heal a percentage of health every second. Support, Healer, and Gold Find champions will buff Global Damage. Year Four Variants

  • Half-Empty Crypts — Half of the crypts are empty! We've interrupted some grave robbing! A collection of Grave Robbers appear in each area. Reach Area 75.

  • Half-Full Outlook — If we're going to make such a mess, let's clean up as we go! In each wave, Awakened Cleaning Supplies spawn. Awakened Cleaning Supplies deal 200% additional damage and spawn with 4 hits-based health chunks. However, Penelope and her positive outlook can destroy each of these enemies with one hit. Penelope starts in the formation. She can be moved. Reach Area 125.

  • Half-Pint Friends — Penelope starts in the formation and can't be moved. Penelope's base attack cooldown is reduced by 2 seconds. Only Good champions can be used.
    Reach Area 175.

Idle Champion Spotlight: Penelope "Half-Pint"
Posted in Idle Champions.

"Will you be my friend?" the young halfling shyly asked.

Penelope "Half-Pint" joins her friends Avren, Freely, and Briv Steelmarrow from D&D Beyond's Silver & Steel & Beyond Heroes, and is eager to meet her new friends on the Idle Champions roster, with Feast of the Moon 4.

It's time for the latest Idle Champion Spotlight, and this delightful druid does it all: Support, Gold Find, and Healing!

I. A Delightful Druid and Everyone's Friend

Penelope "Half-Pint" is a halfling who just wants to be everyone's best friend, even if they are evil, or a plant, or a rock. With friends that already include a treant named Neverember and a clan of chwinga that have adopted her, Penelope is ready for anything! She has the heart of a true hero and will always stand by her friends until she goes into shrub mode of course.

Penelope is a Support, Gold Find, and Healing Champion. She buffs party members with her Chwinga Mask based on their roles, increasing healing, damage, and Gold Find with the number of Story Time stacks she has. When you want to add Penelope to your formation, you can swap her with Arkhan (Slot 12).

II. Penelope's Stats

Race: Halfling Alignment: Chaotic Good
Class: Druid (Circle of the Moon) / Warlock Gender: Female
Age: 33 Affiliation: none

STR: 10 DEX: 16 CON: 14
INT: 8 WIS: 17 CHA: 14

Role: Support, Gold Find, Healing

Eligible for Patrons: Mirt the Moneylender, Vajra Safahr

Slot: 12, (Arkhan)

III. Penelope's Design

It's always a joy to work with a passionate creator to bring their character to life as a Champion in our game, and working with D&D Beyond's Hope LaVelle was no exception, and working with her is just as delightful as the character she portrays.

Penelope is a naive, young, happy go lucky halfling who just wants to be your friend. She is a Support, Gold Find, and Healing Champion who buffs Champions based on their role(s) and alignment, and she does it all with a skip in her step!

With Have You Met My Friends, Penelope tags enemies she can't kill so her friends can finish the job. Chwinga Mask allows her to call chwingas to her aid. While enemies are attacking, Penelope panics and dons the mask. A Chwinga friend appears on her shoulder for the duration of this effect. The Chwinga grants charms to adjacent Champions based on their tags. Tanks will heal a percentage of health every second. Support, Healer, and Gold Find champions will buff Global Damage. Story Time augments Chwinga Mask, based on how efficiently her friends (Champions within 2 slots) are killing enemies.

Her specializations focus on her ability to make friends with everyone, buffing Have You Met My Friends by increasing the damage of the formation based on the alignment on the Good-Evil axis.

Her second specialization augments her basic attack to include an additional terrain changing effect. Minor Eruption adds a small radius of area of effect damage, leaving difficult terrain underneath her enemies. Hey Batter Batter increases her knockback by four times against non-boss enemies and her damage is increased by 200%.

Her ultimate has her casting Erupting Earth, creating difficult terrain to slow and wound enemies.

IV. Penelope's Abilities

Basic Attack

  • Go Away — Penelope jumps out and hits the closest enemy with her quarterstaff, dealing damage and knocking it back slightly.

Formation Abilities

  • Have You Met My Friends — Whenever Penelope attacks an enemy and doesn't kill it, for the next 30 seconds, all Champions deal 100% additional damage against them.
  • Chwinga Mask — Whenever the formation is under attack, Penelope dons her chwinga mask, calling an elemental friend to her aid. It sits on her shoulder while her mask is on. All Champions adjacent to Penelope gain the following charm(s) based on their tags. Charms last as long as the formation is under attack and then for 10 seconds afterward, persisting through area transitions.
    • Healing Charm (Tank Champions) — Penelope heals affected Champions for 30 HP every second. Once Penelope unlocks Story Time, the amount healed every second is increased by a percentage based on 2x the number of Story Time stacks she has.
      • 0 stacks of Story Time = +0% = 30 HP / sec
      • 10 stacks of Story Time = +20% = 36 HP / sec
      • 25 stacks of Story Time = +50% = 45 HP / sec
    • Tools for the Job Charm (Healing, Support, or Gold Find Champions) — Penelope increases the damage of all Champions by 100% for each Champion affected by this charm. This effect stacks multiplicatively and buffs apply to the post-stack value.
Once Penelope unlocks Story Time, whenever she has more than 15 stacks of Story Time, this effect also increases the party's gold find by 10% of the total buff caused by this charm (including buffs).
Champions can only gain each charm once even if they have multiple tags.
  • Story Time — Each time a Champion within 2 slots of Penelope kills an enemy, add a stack of Story Time. Story Time stacks are capped at 25. The stacks of Story Time affect both charms given by Chwinga Mask. Every time you change areas, the stacks of Story Time are reduced by half, rounded down.

First Specializations

  • Keep Your Friends Close — Increases the effect of Have You Met My Friends by 60% for each other Good Champion in the formation (stacking multiplicatively).
  • Keep Your Future Friends Closer — Increases the effect of Have You Met My Friends by 40% for each Evil Champion in the formation (stacking multiplicatively).
  • Everybody Gets To Be Friends — Increases the effect of Have You Met My Friends by 20% for each other Champion in the formation (stacking multiplicatively).

Second Specializations

  • Minor Eruption — Penelope's base attack now causes a minor eruption under the enemy she hits, dealing aoe damage in a small radius and leaving difficult terrain under them for 10 seconds.
  • Hey Batter Batter — Penelope's base attack's knockback is now four times as effective against non-boss enemies and her damage is increased by 200%.

Ultimate Ability

  • Erupting Earth — A fountain of churned earth and stone erupt in the enemies' path (centered on the nearest enemy), dealing AOE damage in a large radius and creating difficult terrain that lasts for 30 seconds. Enemies that encounter the difficult terrain have their movement slowed by 50% while they travel through it.

V. Penelope's Equipment

Slot 1: Global DPS
Slot 2: Have You Met My Friends
Slot 3: Chwinga Mask - Healing
Slot 4: Chwinga Mask - Damage

Idle Champions: Icewind Dale, Part 2
Posted in Idle Champions.

The Champions are relieved to finally reach Ten-Towns after becoming lost in the snow -- but not everything is as it seems in the Rime. We find ourselves in Lonelywood, one of the northernmost settlements of Icewind Dale, giving us pause as to just how lost we truly were...

Note: you will need to have completed the previous two Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden Adventures, The Giant's Bane Tavern and The Everlasting Rime, in order to access these new Adventures.

Moose Tracks

We are well and truly lost in the Rime, and find ourselves in Lonelywood. Relieved to have found some semblance of civilization, the Champions are immediately beseeched by the speaker of Lonelywood to help with a moose problem...
  • Variant: An Awakened Axe — Enter Ten-Towns and help chase down some local wildlife while being chased by an Awakened Axe Beak! A Frost Druid has awakened an axe beak to carve through us. The awakened axe beak arrives in each area with 5 armored hit points, and deals damage equal to 50% of your Champions' max health.
  • Reach area 250.

Civilization

We helped Lonelywood, now we find our way into Termalaine. Hearing of some issues with the gem mine, the Champions head out to explore it, and find some kobolds working the mine.
  • Variant: Trench Coat Run — Head to - wait - is that... three kobolds in a Trench Coat? Kobolds in a trenchcoat attack in each area. Once initially defeated, the kobolds spill out of the trenchcoat, creating three new enemies!
    • As a kobold in a trenchcoat, they move 100% faster.
    • After the kobolds fall out of the trenchcoat, they each deal 300% additional damage.
    • Only Champions with DEX score of 14 or higher can be used.
  • Reach area 275.

See the in-game Change Log for more information, including a full list of changes and fixes included in this update.
