COTLI: Carnival of Sorrows Tier 7

Come one, come all, and step right up! That's right! No mirrors, no tricks! It's just magic!

The seventh edition of the Carnival of Sorrows event is now live, and adds a new Crusader to its attractions! She's fabulous, fashionable, and here to tell you that capes are so last season, but wings are always in.

Carnival of Sorrows 7 runs until Tuesday, October 26th at Noon Pacific Time, and introduces Erabelle, Tisseuse de Nuit, and brings back returning Crusaders Mogra, the Ringleader, Carmen and Petunia, Sashimi the Seal, Chiyome, The Half-Blood Elf, Mindy the Mime, Mister the Monkey, and Pete the Carney!

New Tier 7 Crusader: Erabelle, Tisseuse de Nuit

Tags: Event, Female, Support, Animal, Magical, Good

Flap...flap...flap.

Flap...flap...flap.

The hairs on the back of your neck rise as you enter the tent, a pungent smell filling your nostrils, something that smells like dust and dry earth. You look around for the source, hoping your eyes adjust to the dim lighting soon. You try to think back on what the sign outside the tent said, but you were running too fast to have read it properly.

Flap...flap...flap.

That odd sound happens again, closer this time. You turn around, trying to find the entrance to the tent again, thinking it might be worth facing the creatures outside rather than whatever is in here. And then you feel the hand on your back.

A small squeak slips out of your mouth, adventurer or no, and you turn back to whatever touched you. All you can see is wings.

Erabelle, Tisseuse de Nuit is a Support Crusader. When you want to add her to your formation, you can find her in slot 39.

New Tier 7 Objectives

  • Recruit Erabelle, Tisseuse de Nuit | Erabelle, Tisseuse de Nuitr takes up a slot in the formation. Pete the Carney and Mister the Monkey take up spots in formation and can't be moved. Other than the locked-in Crusaders, only Flora or Human Crusaders can be used. Monsters live at least 3 seconds. Quest requirements are doubled. Note: This will require having cleared the objective Bullet Hell on Ready Player Two to complete. Beat area 650.

  • Carnival of Attraction | Mindy the Mime and Half-Blood Elf take up spots in formation and can't be moved. Other than the locked-in Crusaders, only Erabelle, Tisseuse de Nuit, Flora or Human Crusaders can be used. Admirers trying to reach Half-Blood Elf spawn, each with an annoying ability. Quest requirements are doubled. Note: This will require having cleared the objective Washed Up on World's Wake to complete. Beat area 750.

  • Carnival of Sushi | Chiyome and Sashimi the Seal take up spots in the formation and can't be moved. Other than the locked-in Crusaders, only Erabelle, Tisseuse de Nuit, Flora, or Human Crusaders can be used. Special fish monsters spawn and increase Chiyome's DPS by 50% additively for each one killed. Quest requirements are doubled. Note: This will require having cleared the objective Washed Up on World's Wake to complete. Beat area 800.

  • Carnival of Magic | Carmen and Petunia take up a spot in the formation and can't be moved. Other than the locked-in Crusader, only Erabelle, Tisseuse de Nuit, Flora, or Human Crusaders can be used. The formation has been changed. If there are at least 5 Magical Crusaders in the formation, then Carmen and Petunia buff DPS by 1000%. Quest requirements are doubled. Note: This will require having purchased the max level of the Arithmagician Talent to complete. Beat area 850.

  • Carnival of Evil | Mogra, the Ring Leader takes up a spot in the formation and can't be moved. Other than the locked-in Crusader, only Erabelle, Tisseuse de Nuit, Flora, or Human Crusaders can be used. Crusaders adjacent to more than 1 other Crusader provide no DPS or upgrades. New Tier 6 Crusader: Mogra, the Ring Leader

Tags: event, support, demon, animal, male, gold

COTLI: Carnival of Sorrows 5!

Come one, come all and step right up! That's right! No mirrors, no tricks! It's just magic!

The fifth edition of the Carnival of Sorrows event is now live, and adds a magic show to its attractions!

This is also our first Tier 5 event! Read on for more details about what's new for this year of events!

Carnival of Sorrows 5 runs until Tuesday, October 15th at Noon Pacific Time, and introduces conjoined twins, Carmen and Petunia!

New Tier 5 Crusader: Carmen and Petunia

Carmen and Petunia both love stage magic. Petunia's specialty is tricks with turning balls into fruits while Carmen is so good at slight of hand, you'll wonder how she did it. Finding less than stellar success advertising as just a magic act, they've embraced being conjoined twins and have been making the money ever since with their new marketing angle: conjoined magicians!

Once you've recruited Carmen and Petunia, you'll find them providing support to your formations that contain female and human Crusaders, and they'll provide their financial skills to help your gold find. They occupy seat 32 on the bench.

Crusaders Return

If you haven't collected them already, you can unlock previous Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3, and Tier 4 Crusaders by completing their respective objectives. Sashimi the Seal, Chiyome, The Half-Blood Elf, Mindy the Mime, Mister the Monkey, and Pete the Carney are all once again available to unlock!

What's New for Tier 5

Another year of events means some changes to how events work, and we hope you like them!
  • Accessing the Event | The Fourth Time's the Charm Talent now unlocks Tier 4 objectives and higher, which means it unlocks the Tier 5 objectives if you have it purchased, and it will unlock additional higher objective tiers in the future.

  • Event Idol Bonus | The buff to Idols for completing event objectives now buffs the Boss Idol drops in addition to the normal Idols you earn, though at a different rate from normal Idols.

  • Event Free Plays | Good news everyone! You can now increase the Free Play bonus for free plays on permanent campaigns by completing areas on the event free play!

  • Event Currency Costs | Since there are now 5 tiers of objectives to complete in an event period, we've lowered the cost of the objectives for Tiers 1 to 3, to help those players who are playing catch-up with an event.

  • Starting EP | Tier 5 event Crusaders will come with 450 EP when you recruit them.

  • Tier 5 Objectives | Rather than just go further and further, we're trying something different. The areas you are required to reach to complete the Tier 5 objectives are lower, but the difficulty of the monsters scales up much more quickly.

  • Bonus Skin! | The reward for completing the 5th Tier 5 event objective has been changed. Instead of awarding a Tier 5 event Jeweled chest, the reward is now a skin for one of the event Crusaders! For the Carnival of Sorrows event, the lucky Crusader getting a skin is Chiyome! This skin does not have an effect associated with it, but does make her fit in more with her fellow Carnival Crusaders when she wears it.

New Tier 5 Objectives

  • Recruit Carmen and Petunia | Carmen and Petunia occupy a slot in the formation. They reduce the effectiveness of other columns' formation abilities by 50%. Reach area 400.

  • The Prestige | A dunk tank occupies a slot in the formation and every few seconds a Crusader drowns. Reach area 450.

  • The Illusionist | A crystal ball occupies a slot in the formation and summons visions of your potential future self. Reach area 475.

  • The Carnivorous Carnival | A beast tamer occupies a slot in the formation and summons savage beasts randomly. Only the front spot of the formation can deal DPS to dispatch your enemies. Reach area 500.

  • Fortune's Fool | Some days you just spend it all on trying to win the supreme prize on a rigged carnival game. In this objective, your Idols provide no Gold bonus. Reach area 525.

Help! Where’s the Loot?

Equipment for event Crusaders can be found in Silver and Jeweled Carnival Chests, which you can earn from objectives and the free play or buy in the shop. Each non-recruitment objective will drop a chest for its given tier of Crusaders, and free play will drop All Tier chests. Gear for Tier 2, Tier 3, Tier 4 and Tier 5 Crusaders will only appear in All Tier chests once you've unlocked the respective Crusaders. You can select the tier of chest you buy in the shop when you go to purchase chests with real money or event currency.

You'll have until Tuesday, October 15th at 12:00pm Pacific Time to complete Carnival of Sorrows 5!

COTLI: Carnival of Sorrows 4

Darkness descends upon the Crusaders, bringing with it unknown horrors and twisted new Tier 4 Objectives.

Crusaders arrive from beyond the veil: Chiyome, The Half-Blood Elf, Mindy the Mime, Mister the Monkey, and Pete the Carney have stepped out from the shadows. A new Crusader joins them.

The Carnival of Sorrows has returned. Do you have what it takes to unlock our latest Crusader in our first-ever Tier 4 Event?

Carnival of Sorrows 4 runs until Tuesday, October 16th at noon Pacific, and introduces Sashimi the Seal!

New Tier 4 Crusader: Sashimi the Seal

Her name is Sashimi the Seal.
She happily supports for a meal (of fish).
She finds gold for you all,
while bouncing her ball,
and this limerick is terrible.

So lets just say she's really, really good at improving your Gold Find. Like, really good.

Crusaders Return

If you haven't collected them already, you can unlock previous Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 Crusaders by completing their respective objectives. Chiyome, The Half-Blood Elf, Mindy the Mime, Mister the Monkey, and Pete the Carney are all once again available to unlock!

New Tier 4 Objectives

  • Recruit Sashimi the Seal | Sashimi the Seal takes up a slot in the formation. Every 100 areas, an additional slot is taken up by a fish. Reach area 600.

  • Out of the Crowd | If any Crusader has more than one adjacent Crusader, they deal no damage. Reach area 700.

  • My Balloon! | A floating balloon takes up the front slot in the formation. If the balloon is popped, your formation wipes. Additionally, Crusaders in the column directly behind the balloon are busy trying to catch it, and deal no damage. Reach area 750.

  • Cleanup Crew | The carnival janitor and some waste bins take up slots in the formation. Quest requirements are doubled. Garbage monsters spawn at random, which can only be damaged by clicking, and garbage which reaches the formation is collected BY the janitor. Collecting garbage for the janitor gives a buff that doubles quest drops. Reach area 800.

  • Unleashed | Only animal Crusaders may be used. There are additional slots in the formation. Reach area 1000.

Help! Where’s the Loot?

Equipment for event Crusaders can be found in Silver and Jeweled Carnival Chests, which you can earn from objectives and the free play or buy in the shop. Each non-recruitment objective will drop a chest for its given tier of Crusaders, and free play will drop all-tier chests. Updated Event! Carnival of Sorrows 2017

The Carnival of Sorrows arrives in Crusaders of the Lost Idols once again, bringing twisted new objectives to complete and a new Crusader to unlock.

We are now entering our third year for Crusaders, and in order to celebrate the occasion this year’s Carnival of Sorrows is our first event featuring a Tier 3 Crusader to unlock and add to your roster.

That's on top of having the chance to add both the original Crusaders for new players to unlock as well as two Tier 2 Crusaders from last year!

New Tier 3 Crusader: Chiyome.

Crusaders Return

If you haven't already collected them, you can unlock Crusaders Pete, the Carney, and Mister, the Monkey by completing the first two Tier One objectives. Then you can collect the Tier Two Crusaders, Mindy, the Mime and The Half-Blood Elf by completing the first two Tier Two objectives, once you've cleared the rest of the Tier 1 objectives, and if you have the Doing It Again Talent purchased.

Four New Objectives!

New Tier 3 Objective: Be A Man.

Be A Man | Only male Crusaders and Chiyome can be used until you beat area 650.

New Tier 3 Objective: Best In Show.

Best In Show | Prized Livestock attacks the formation, each with a different ability until you beat area 650.

New Tier 3 Objective: Fair Food.

Fair Food | Your Crusaders are hungry and unable to do any damage! Luckily, a food cart in the formation is here to help, feeding two Crusaders at random every 10 seconds, causing them to become sated enough to do DPS for 20 seconds.

New Tier 3 Objective: The Creepiest Carnival.

The Creepiest Carnival | Our final new objective is The Creepiest Carnival. A Creepy Clown has taken up a slot in the formation. Every 100 areas a new clown appears, until all the slots are gone by area 800.

Where’s the Loot?

Equipment for event Crusaders can be found in Carnival Event Chests, which you can earn from objectives or buy in the shop. Each non-recruitment objective will drop a chest for its given tier of Crusaders and free play will drop all-tier chests. Gear for the Tier 2 and 3 Crusaders will only appear in all-tier chests once you've unlocked the respective Crusader. You can select the tier of chest you buy in the shop.

You'll have until October 17th at Noon PDT to complete this dark and demonic event before the Carnival packs up for another year.

Carnival of Sorrows 2016

The Carnival of Sorrows is back in town. Following up on our recent announcement on our official subreddit, we are going to be repeating our seasonal events from last year but with a special twist!

Here's a note to you from Justin, Crusaders of the Lost Idols designer and co-founder of Codename Entertainment:

"One of the most common questions we've heard over the past few months is whether or not events will be repeated. We're now ready to tell you that yes, most holiday events will repeat. However, each repeated event will come with brand new challenges for veteran players who had already completed the event last year.

Brand new Crusaders, objectives, gear, and achievements will be available with each repeated event. If you missed an event last year but you're still a powerful veteran player, you may even be able to blast through two year's worth of event content, though this may require some additional time warps to secure the required event currency. Additional information will be released along with the first repeated event, the Carnival of Sorrows, when it starts."

Today we relaunch Carnival of Sorrows with both the original Crusaders for new players to unlock and two new Crusaders for veteran players.

Beat the first Tier One objective to unlock Pete, the Carney.

This dark and demonic funfair has rolled into the Crusader's world with some twisted new objectives to complete again. If you haven't already collected them, you can unlock Crusaders Pete, the Carney, and Mister, the Monkey by completing the first two Tier One objectives.

After a lifetime of traveling with the twisted carnival, Pete, the Carney is endowed with some dank formation abilities. One of his abilities, Bad Jokes, would make even the most embarrassing dad cringe. Crusaders furthest from Pete receive a 50% boost to their DPS.

Beat the second Tier One objective to unlock Mister, the Monkey.

Mister, the Monkey, is equally grim. At level 10 he enables the Magnify ability where the next activated ability gets a 50% buff. Later at level 75, he can buff all the Crusaders in the column behind him to find 25% more Gold.

The remaining three objectives are Elephant of DOOOOM, where two elephants block valuable formation slots; Carnival of Death, featuring double the number of monsters per area, and the all-new objective, Peanuts where a sneaky elephant steals some of your gold on the way to area 250.

Note: Since the new Peanuts objective was just added this year, players who completed this event last year will need to do it prior to starting the Tier Two objectives, so be sure to save up 2,500 Carnival Tickets before resetting!

For veteran or hard-working players who have completed all the Tier One objectives, the new objectives require you to purchase the Tier Two talent Do it Again in the Talents shop.

New Crusader: Mindy, the Mime.

The new Tier Two Crusaders are equally creepy as their event forebears. Mindy, the Mime can randomly mimic her adjacent Crusaders' formation abilities for 15 seconds at level 100. At level 300, the duration of her ability lasts twice as long.

New Crusader: The Half-Blood Elf.

The second of the new Crusaders is The Half-Blood Elf who, being half-orc, favours the non-human compatriots in the formation. Every non-human Crusader next to her will receive a 50% DPS boost at level 150. At level 400, her Swipe Right ability enables her to heal all non-adjacent male Crusaders.

New Objective! Great Trapeze.

The three remaining new Tier Two objectives after unlocking the two new Crusaders include The Great Trapeze where a trapeze artist takes up a slot in the back of the formation and every 15 seconds, swaps a Crusader in the next column with a Crusader in the previous column.

New Objective! Menagerie.

Menagerie pits the Crusaders against a host of escaped circus animals all the way to area 400.

The final new objective is Price of Admission. The cost of the Crusaders are drastically increased, and gold drops are drastically decreased all the way to area 550.

Equipment for both Tier 1 and 2 Crusaders can be found in Carnival Event Chests, which you can earn from objectives or buy in the shop, however gear for the Tier 2 Crusaders will only appear once you've unlocked the respective Crusader. We've also made a slight tweak to make event chests drop gear more often for completely empty slots, and slightly increased the chance of getting an upgrade to help you flesh out all four event Crusaders evenly. We'll be monitoring these changes and making tweaks in future events as well.

Once you have enough tickets, you'll have until October 11th at Noon PDT to complete the event before the Carnival will pack up for another year.

First New Event! Carnival of Sorrows

Today we're introducing a brand new feature for Crusaders of the Lost Idols, and it's a major update to the game! We have created new limited time events where you can unlock brand-new Crusaders among other rewards.

Carnival of Sorrows

The inaugural event is The Carnival of Sorrows. This dark and demonic funfair has rolled into the Crusaders world with some twisted new objectives to complete. However, entry to the objectives requires you to have earned enough tickets to spend on unlocking them. Tickets can be earned by killed monsters.

Once you have enough tickets, you'll have to complete the four new objectives and claim your rewards before the Carnival packs up and leaves on Tuesday, October 13 at Noon PDT.

New Crusaders

The opening two objectives are the first time you'll meet Pete the Carney and Mister the Monkey, two prisoners of the Carnival of Sorrows whom you need to rescue. The evil circus members have trapped them in their warped traveling carnival.

You must help break them out of the demonic spell by liberating them from the carnival. It won't be easy as they will debuff your Crusaders and take up a slot in your formation. However, completing the objectives will release them from their captivity, and they'll join your ranks. Once recruited you'll be able to select the character for all your formations by using the all-new swap button.

Mister the Monkey can be switched for Kaine while Pete the Carney can be switched for Jason by choosing the switch option just above the enchantment points.

Pete the Carney

Pete the Carney packs some new unique upgrades. A lifetime of traveling with the twisted carnival has built up his arsenal of improvements. His Bad Jokes are so bad that the Crusaders furthest from Pete receive a 50% boost to their DPS. As well, his level 200 bonus is Clown Rage that even has Pennywise diving for cover.

Mister the Monkey is no slouch either. He can buff all the Crusaders in the column behind him to find 25% more Gold, and fling a little poop while he's at it. Monkey see, monkey do.

Elephants of DOOOOM!

The remaining two objectives are Elephant of DOOOOM, where two elephants block valuable formation slots raising the challenge, and Carnival of Death, featuring double the number of monsters per area. These objectives reward Jeweled Carnival chests!

Of course, if you have extra tickets and want to get more gear for your new Crusaders while you can, you can run the Free Play mode. You get a guaranteed Silver Carnival chest for completion that has a chance to be upgraded to a Jeweled Carnival chest!

You have 11 days to beat the event and rescue Pete and Mister the Monkey. Can you do it?

The event ends Tuesday, October 13 at Noon PDT.
