III. Miria's Design
When we bring an affiliation of Champions into our game, it can be difficult to find a way to include the Dungeon Master of that group. Idle Champions Presents: Fury of the Black Rose offered a unique opportunity to work with the fantastic Mark Hulmes as more than the DM for High Rollers. They created a brand new character crafted specifically for both the livestream and the Idle Champions roster, with a unique backstory connected to the game and an interesting power set for the Champion!
Miria is a formidable necromancer with training in advanced magical arts, but she knows supporting the formation with her undead powers is the best way to ensure her own safety. Her training as a Mage of High Sorcery helps her increase the damage of all adjacent Champions, and that bonus is increased for every defeated enemy she captures in her Soul Cage. She helps buff the front-most column of the formation by sending her Zombie Bodyguards up to absorb damage, and will use Life Transference to increase the health of all Champions so they can soak up more damage. If none of these protective measures help keep Miria alive, she has one more contingency in place with a stash of clones that she can draw from to regain her health!
Miria's Specializations determines the type of heroes that she prefers to have in the formation, and will increase the attack bonus of Mage of High Sorcery for each Champion who fits her requirements. Lawful Champions can be Methodical and she appreciates their predictability. Those that show they have a high intelligence appeal to her Intellectual nature. But she also respects those that are unaffiliated for remaining Independent. When adversaries come close, Miria will fire a Ray of Sickness at the nearest one to weaken them. And when her bodyguards are not enough, she will cast Danse Macabre to summon five skeletons to the battlefield and command them to brutally attack her enemies!
IV. Miria's Abilities
Basic Attack
Ray of Sickness - Miria fires an energy ray at the nearest enemy, dealing one hit of magical damage and the target's damage is reduced by 50% for 6 seconds. Does not stack.
Formation Abilities
Mage of High Sorcery - Miria increases the damage of all adjacent Champions by +100%.
Soul Cage - When an enemy is defeated, Miria can capture its soul and gain a Soul Cage stack. Her maximum number of Soul Cage stacks is 1 for every 20 areas completed in the current adventure, rounded up. Miria increases the damage bonus of Mage of High Sorcery by 25% for each Soul Cage stack she has, stacking multiplicatively.
Zombie Bodyguards - While Miria is alive, a Zombie Bodyguard that shares hit points with Miria appears in front of each Champion in the front-most column of the formation. When a Champion in that column takes damage, the Zombie Bodyguard takes 90% of the damage instead, while the original target takes the remaining 10%.
Clone - Miria maintains a stash of clones in her Inner Sanctum with a count equal to her Soul Cage stacks. If Miria is defeated, a clone immediately appears and takes her place at full health. This does not reduce the number of Soul Cage stacks she has. Her stash of clones are regenerated when the party changes areas. For each clone summoned in the current area, the effect of Mage of High Sorcery is increased by 25%, stacking multiplicatively.
Life Transference - Miria increases the health of all other Champions by 1% of her max health for each Soul Cage stack she has, stacking additively.
Specializations
Methodical - Miria increases the attack bonus of Mage of High Sorcery by 25% for each Lawful Champion in the formation, stacking multiplicatively.
Intellectual - Miria increases the attack bonus of Mage of High Sorcery by 25% for each Champion with an INT score of 15+ in the formation, stacking multiplicatively.
Independent - Miria increases the attack bonus of Mage of High Sorcery by 25% for each Unaffiliated Champion in the formation, stacking multiplicatively.
Ultimate Ability
Danse Macabre - Miria summons 5 skeletons to the battlefield. The skeletons deal 15 attacks to the enemies before vanishing. All enemies are slowed by 50% for the duration due to the confusion on the battlefield.
Festival of Fools is a time-honored tradition in Sword Coast communities. Townsfolk engage in the usual gluttonous consumption of food and drink during the festivities, but they also play pranks on each other.
Unfortunately, one prankster has decided to play a practical joke on a Frost Giant nearby...
Festival of Fools 5 introduces Tatyana, the Air Genasi Barbarian Druid played by Becca Scott on The Black Dice Society. Festival of Fools also brings back Alyndra Sarrbarand, Divination Wizard and Cleric of Oghma and Briv Steelmarrow, Half-Orc Paladin (Oath of Heroism). Players have until Monday, March 21st at 12 PM Pacific to complete their Festival of Fools 5 unlocks and objectives.
I. Tatyana
This toweringly tall air-genasi barbarian earned her skills and power in the gladiatorial fighting pits of Koshmarr. Tatyana augmented her rage with the might of the bear totem, and the spirits of the mist connected her to the natural druidic world through the power of the moon. Her fearsome and deadly battle prowess is tempered by a respect for anyone who would return that respect. She is curious and bold, and while she's quick to jump into battle she's just as swift with her forgiveness.
Tatyana is a Tanking, Support, and Speed Champion who is faithful and protective of her friends and allies. When you want to add her to your formation you can swap her with Delina in slot 8.
Most of the Idle Champions community will recognize Becca Scott from her work on The Black Dice Society, Geek & Sundry, Dimension 20, and many other TTRPG shows and streams. But her work also includes a huge library of content as an actor, host, interviewer, podcaster, voice-over artist, and streamer! Plus she is the co-founder of the channel and production company Good Time Society.
The core of Tatyana's design focuses on how she channels her Fury and Rage into keeping her friends safe. She'll become a Faithful Friend to a random slot in the middle of the formation, encouraging that Champion to do more damage. As she tanks incoming attacks her Rising Fury will grow, gaining stacks of Fury that increase the effect of Faithful Friend. Eventually her Fury turns to Rage, and with bulging muscles and nasty claws she'll stop attacking with her Twin Kukri Strike and instead rely on her Primal Savagery to bite and claw at enemies! When there aren't enemies around to fight, she'll become distracted, heading off to Find a Feast and causing a few enemies to spawn and follow her back to her companions.
For more information on Tatyana and her abilities, check out her Champion Spotlight!

Adventure Variant 3: Tanks a Lot! — Every 5 seconds, each Champion takes damage which increases the further you get in the adventure. Complete Area 175.
Getting to know Tatyana: Tanks like Tatyana often protect your Champions by granting additional health. Include them to offset the constant damage!

Episode 1
Disembarking from their Drow submarine ride are Freely, Orisha, Baeloth, and Havilar. They’ve arrived in the village of Hornfirth during the colorful Festival of Fools, and Orisha is once again overcome with a cryptic vision and warning that she imparts to the group. Revelry with the party and the bar patrons ensues.
A sudden ruckus nearby, including the sounds of Freely calling out in distress, cause the group to dash outside. In a nearby alley, they find the halfling protecting a red panda from a pack of wild dogs. No one wants to hurt the dogs, and between some illusions, fire, and snacks they are able to convince the dogs to run away. Freely is happy to see his old friends, and introduces the red panda as Cinnamon.
Another cry of terror rings out, and running back out of the alley the heroes find a tipsy conjurer using a spell scroll to summon fiends! Spined devils, quasits, and a nightmare appear as well as a drunken group of angry party goers who want to join the fight. Our heroes are quick to dispatch the spined devils and quasits, convince the intoxicated revelers to stand down, and persuade the nightmare to a truce. The fake Halister Blackcloak is killed, and several scrolls are found on his body. Briv makes a connection with the nightmare, who agrees to come four times when he calls, before disappearing.
Just as one problem is solved another commotion starts up from Heiley, a distraught festival reveler crying for help. Her husband Beirn and his friends have gone into the mountains to play a prank on the frost giant Wrerdor and his ogre servants. Normally the frost giant is a good neighbor, but the townsfolk are terrified that Wrerdor will be infuriated and attack the village. Iris the friendly beholder shows up to offer some advice on the situation and agrees to help with any plans the heroes come up with, as well as offer a new title for both Alyndra and Briv.
The group head up the mountain to try and find the pranksters before they can strike. Their way is blocked and their trip is hampered by a Sneeze Breeze trap and then a pack of angry owlbears. The creatures are quickly killed, but Orisha’s deva rewinds time to save the owlbear’s life. After casting speak with animals they discover she’s just protecting her cubs hiding in a nearby tree, so Briv casts revivify to bring the other back to life. Continuing up the mountainside, they are distracted by the sight of a flaming mountain with a massive creature flying over it that brings Havilar infernal vibes. But it’s too far away to do much about.
Eventually, they find a tunnel entrance with a sign indicating it leads to Wrerdor, and running out of the cave is a screaming woman - a member of Beirn’s crew. She relays the group put itching powder in Wrerdor’s underclothing, but the giant did not appreciate the prank and attacked. After a stern talking about the stupidity of their actions, she is sent out into the cold to head back to town while the group head into the caves to try and rescue the other eight townsfolk. After getting lost for a while they finally find the cavern with ice mephits tormenting the captured townsfolk. They defeat the creatures and free the prisoners but are informed that Wrerdor and his ogres are heading for the town to extract revenge!
Beirn informs everyone that he knows a quick way to get back to town, so after a few healing words they rush off. He leads them to a log flume that can be used to get down the mountain quickly as long as they can put together a raft. Havilar’s strength and Briv’s liquid metal are put to good use in crafting the raft, Alyndra oversees the building, and Baeloth and Orisha terrify and inspire the townsfolk to help. The heroes jump on the raft and head down the flume, narrowly avoiding several potential disasters including an otter dam they manage to dodge while saving the otters. With a frantic leap, they manage to exit the raft just before hitting the lake, taking a variety of cuts and scrapes but no major injuries. While the trip was dangerous, it did manage to get them in front of Wrerdor!
Bubbles the Hollyphant appears and offers to help them scare off the giant, transforming them all into were-red pandas before disappearing again. The group prepares to try and stop Wrerdor and his three ogres, putting up a wall of fire and preparing a massive pond full of bubbles. The ogres charge into battle, but some persuasive words from Havilar and Orisha, a joke from Briv, and a command to parlay from Alyndra convinces Wrerdor to talk first. The giant admits that he’s not mad, he’s just upset he was left out of the festivities. After some discussion and calming down, Wrerdor is convinced to throw his own party! They’re going to have a foam party, with drinks and snacks, and Baeloth agrees to sing for entertainment. Orisha coordinates the decorations, Briv takes over food prep, Alyndra leads some on some calming meditation, and Freely gathers up the townsfolk to join the festivities.
The party is a success! The Festival of Fools is finished with a fantastic festival of foam!

III. Alyndra's Design
We were thrilled to work with Jen Kretchmer, a producer, writer, actor, streamer and disability advocate. You may recognize her from Beyond Heroes, Silver & Steel, and forthcoming Heroes of the Planes, and we are thrilled to announce that not only is Alyndra joining Idle Champions, but Jen Kretchmer will be playing her as a member of the cast of Idle Champions Presents: A Fool's Errand.
A Divination Wizard, Alyndra buffs adjacent Champions with her Portent ability guiding their attacks and increasing their damage. This ability is heightened when the adjacent Champion is one of Alyndra's adventuring companions of the Heroes of the Planes affiliation. Griff, Alyndra's very judgy owl familiar, is never far from her side and marks unworthy enemies for her when she's unsure if it's a cultural misunderstanding. Her equipment is made up of wonderful ties to her past and future, and the close relationship she shares with her adventuring companions, and of course, Logic and Reason, her sword and spellbook-mace, respectively.
IV. Alyndra's Abilities
Basic Attack
Mind Spike — Alyndra reaches into the mind of a random enemy, dealing damage and slowing the enemy by 50% for 3 seconds.
Formation Abilities
Portent — Every 30 seconds, Alyndra randomly chooses (up to) two adjacent Champions and peers into their futures, helping guide their attacks and increasing their damage by 100%.
Heroes of the Planes — If Portent is applied to a Champion under the effect of certain Heroes of the Planes Champions' abilities, those effects are increased in power:
Avren — Mirror Image effects on the Portented Champion +100%.
Freely — Unlucky For Them +100% for each Portented Champion affected by Luck of Yondalla(stacking multiplicatively).
Penelope — Chwinga Mask: Tools for the Job Charm +100% for each Portented Champion affected by Chwinga Mask (stacking multiplicatively).
Orkira — Orkira will be receiving his Heroes of the Planes buff in a later update.
Briv — Briv will be receiving his Heroes of the Planes affiliation and buff in a later update.
Brows of Judgement — Griff, Alyndra's owl companion, sits on Alyndra's shoulder and judges enemies as they spawn. They have a 25% chance to judge normal enemies as unworthy, and a 100% chance to judge bosses as unworthy. For each living unworthy normal enemy, Portent's base buff is increased by 100%, stacking additively. Each living boss increases Portent's base buff by 400%. Unworthy enemies have an overlay that counts as a debuff for the purposes of Alyndra's ultimate but has no other effect.
Specializations
Expansive Vision — Portent now applies to 3 random adjacent Champions instead of 2.
Extra Judgy — Double Griff's chance to judge enemies as unworthy with Brows of Judgement, and increases the buff by 100% as well.
Ultimate Ability
I Have Foreseen This — Alyndra slips into a trance and foresees the death of all the formation's enemies. For the next 30 seconds, all enemies (regardless of whether or not they spawn after the Ultimate starts) take extra damage equal to the total Portent buff being given (cumulatively).
V. Alyndra's Epic Equipment
Slot 1: Global DPS
Slot 2: Global DPS
Slot 3: Portent
Slot 4: Heroes of the Planes
Slot 5: Brows of Judgement

Episode 1
In the seaside port town of Echo Bay, five epic heroes arrive with invitations to a party. Orisha, Havilar, Baeloth, Melf, and the Black Viper have traveled to enjoy the Fleetswake festivities with their friend Freely. However, the party is put on hold as Freely has agreed to help a local merchant whose ship, the Muskrat, has gone missing. A local fisher confirms the ship was seen five days ago heading for the docks, but never arrived. Despite the festival, the locals are nervous and are avoiding the water.
Before they can do any more a loud bell rings out, and the whole town heads to one of the main events of the festival, a crab battle between Pumpkinhead versus Walnut! Orisha’s eyes suddenly glow and a strange voice emanates from her throat as an announcement is made that something has gone wrong. But the voice tells the heroes if they will fix what is wrong they will “forget their namesâ€. Just as quickly as the voice came it is gone, as is their memories of it.
Suddenly a swarm of demonic geese attack the crowd, but before they can harm any innocents the heroes dispatch them with relative ease. These creatures were not actually from the abyss but had been poisoned and transformed. Asking around the town to find out more about these strange developments, our Champions discover a number of disturbing incidents over the past two months have many people on edge; fishing boats have been attacked by sharks, and many capable swimmers and dock workers have been injured or nearly drowned. Many are suspicious of the new mage high priest to Umberlee named Mistress Hoistsail. After Orisha crafts and sings a song to Umberlee to magically open the door to the one-room shrine, they head inside to question a group of worshippers, but the leader of the cultists transforms into a wereshark and attacks! While it gets a bite out of Baeloth, it’s shocked and stabbed to death!
As the fight with the cultists comes to a close a chaotic attack from Baeloth destroys the altar, and our Champions notice it was funneling magic from somewhere else in the caves. As they loot the bodies they find a journal and a magic key on the late cultist turned wereshark, learning these are fanatics who have come to Echo Bay to serve the will of Mistress Hoistsail. Heading back outside they discover both Freely and Havilar’s hound Zoonie are missing, but Bubbles the Hollyphant and Freely’s parrot TreAvor are there. Bubbles offers to help the group, first healing Baeloth and Black Viper and then giving Havilar the ability to speak to animals. TreAvor relays that eight pirates kidnapped Freely as he defended Zoonie and told her to run. Havilar summons her Imps and sends them off to look for Zoonie, and inspired by the idea Baeloth summons his Djinn servant Najim to create pirate outfits for the entire party.
Back in town, the party matches the key they looted to a warehouse marked by the same flying frog symbol. It’s been empty since its owner, Galid Tanter, drowned two months ago. Her death was the first of the strange incidents that have the townsfolk on edge. As they take a moment to catch up with Iris, Melf hears a whispered voice from the shadows trying to warn him of danger, but the voice is gone before he can make out the whole message. They find the warehouse on the edge of town, and while it’s supposed to be abandoned Black Viper notices that the lock has been recently oiled, indicating there’s been recent activity. Inside is mostly empty but a suspicious tapestry hides a secret passage to a back area with a massive chest, and Melf notices a magical aura coming from it. Stacks of bloodstained paperwork nearby are ships manifest including one for The Muskrat, and all the vessels were carrying spell components for very heavy conjuration magic.
Opening the chest they discover a pair of disgusting gibbering mouthers! Their horrific noises and gnashing teeth stun and disorient the heroes, and one almost manages to eat Melf! But eventually, they destroy the creatures and discover a practically brand new ladder leading deep into darkness. But having taken a lot of damage and being exhausted from the day, Havilar leaves one of her imps to guard the ladder and the group takes a well-deserved long rest.
The next morning while the group discusses how they want to proceed, Orisha is suddenly overtaken with a spirit. The creepy voice of the ethereal being gives much valuable advice, including a warning that time is of the essence but that there is no reasoning with the fanatics. Bubbles the holyphant reappears and promises to help, but instead curses the team to speak only in rhyme! Before the issue can be fixed Bubbles disappears again, leaving the team speaking in verse as they head down into the cave where they hope to find Zoonie, Freely, and answers.
After a perilous slide and past a dual trap, they are greeted by an acquaintance of Baeloth’s who also happens to be a member of the Bregan D’aerthe. Our Champions continue on their path and arrive at a broad sea cave with an ancient dock where wrecks of the missing ships are found. The dock and ships are covered with ghostly forms, and the deck of the ship has strong conjuration magic that is increasing in intensity.
Knowing they are short on time the team rush in. Orisha is snatched on the shore and yanked into the water by a furious sahuagin. As more sahuagin and sharks join the fight, Baeloth summons Najim to rescue Orisha. Not only does the Djinn save the aasimar but he removes the rhyming curse, but now they must speak like pirates! Fortunately, the Bregan D’aerthe shows up and destroys the underwater enemies with torpedoes, but the ghost ship suddenly disembarks and heads for the mouth of the sea cave.
Everyone scrambles onto the ship, and as they get into the hold they can hear chanting coming deep in the ship. A gruesome scene is discovered, and Mistress Hoistsail has Freely and Zoonie in a conjuring circle, in order to call forth a monstrous semi-translucent kraken!
Orisha sets the bodies on fire as Havilar pulls her unconscious friends out of the ritual circle. All of this disrupts the magic, weakening and delaying the full appearance of the kraken. Orisha, Havilar, and Black Viper engage the kraken on the deck while Baeloth attacks Mistress Hoistsail, and Melf casts dispel magic several times to get rid of the magic on the ship. Hoistsail is defeated, and after an epic battle, Baeloth is able to banish the kraken back to its plane. The Bregan D’aerthe show up to rescue the heroes from the sinking ship, and once again the Sword Coast is saved!

We've just concluded the second episode of Idle Champions Presents: The Unfair Seas, and are thrilled with how it's going so far! We wanted to clear up some Frequently Asked Questions asked in the community, especially around voting. Be sure to check out our previous Idle Champions Presents blog post for more details on the cast and the livestream and in-game interactions.
What is Idle Champions Presents?
Idle Champions Presents is a six-week interactive in-game and livestream event that runs from February 16th until March 31st. For these six weeks you'll be able to complete challenges, earn rewards, and vote to influence the events of the live D&D show Idle Champions Presents: The Unfair Seas (Feb 22, Mar 1, and Mar 8) and Idle Champions Presents: A Fool's Errand (Mar 15, Mar 22, and Mar 29). The Idle Champions Presents show airs live each Monday at 4PM Pacific on CNEGames Twitch and you can also watch the video later on our YouTube channel.
Can I have the TL;DR?
Each day, a new vote will become available within Idle Champions. The result of that vote will influence a tabletop D&D episode that airs the following Monday. Check back in-game daily to collect rewards and vote on the next day's question! Learn more about Idle Champions Presents and its cast on our previous blog post.
Do I have to watch the Twitch Livestream to participate?
All you have to do is play Idle Champions to participate! In addition to helping to craft an unforgettable show, at the completion of each vote, a new in-game reward becomes available. The in-game reward will normally be something related to the vote, so we recommend voting to get the best experience, but we welcome everyone to enjoy the rewards.
Where can I watch Idle Champions Presents episodes?
Idle Champions Presents broadcasts for 6 episodes, starting on Feb 22nd and ending on Mar 29. All episodes start at 4PM Pacific on the CNEGames Twitch. If you miss the livestream you can watch the video on demand on Twitch, or soon after the broadcast on our YouTube channel.
Voting FAQ
How long are votes available?
Normally, votes are available for 24 hours: From 12PM Pacific to 12PM Pacific the following day. At 12PM the vote total will become public, and the reward will become available for all players. On Mondays, our newest episode will air, and we don't want to give away any spoilers for the next episode! There will be no active vote from 12PM Pacific on Mondays until the end of that evening's episode. Once the episode airs, the next vote becomes available, with players who are active in-game at that time getting a first shot at the vote!
Can I vote for both choices?
If you want to, absolutely. You do you.
How many votes can I get each week?
Each day at 12PM Pacific, you'll automatically earn a new vote. Each week, you can earn up to 6 additional votes through challenges. Earned votes (including the free vote available each day at noon), are available for the duration of the Idle Champions Presents event.
What are challenges?
Challenges are in-game tasks that you can complete to earn extra votes. Challenges come in a variety of difficulties; some votes are easier to earn than others. New challenges unlock every week and can be accessed on each week's page. Each challenge is available to complete for six days after it unlocks. After the six days have passed, any unfinished challenges will no longer be completable.
What can I earn from challenges?
Each complete challenge earns an additional vote.
How long do I have to redeem a reward?
Rewards will be available for the duration of the Idle Champions Presents event. The notification will turn off at 12PM Pacific on March 31st, so we suggest collecting all of your rewards before then.
Why can't I see clips on any of the votes?
We can't show you clips of how your vote changed the game until our players get around the virtual table! Every Tuesday, we'll be cutting, taping, and super gluing the episode together to feature short clips that highlight how you and the members of the Idle Champion community changed the game! We hope players will enjoy checking out the previous episode's antics in the lead-up to the next episode!
Do you have to vote to collect a reward?
Not for this event. Rewards for past votes are available to all players, regardless of whether they voted during the active 24 hours. You can collect a day's reward by visiting the voting page after its completion. Check back next week, and you'll be able to see how your vote(s) affected the TRPG game! As we get further into Idle Champions Presents, we hope to have many fun clips to share!
We can't wait to see how this all comes together! We hope you'll join us in discussion about Idle Champions Presents on Twitter using the #IdleChampionsPresents hashtag and tagging @IdleChampions.
It's difficult to believe that we've been doing weekly livestreams since October 2017. And since almost the very beginning we've had players ask us one question: "Are you going to do your own Idle Champions TRPG show?"
It's a question we had often disregarded as 'impossible' or 'unlikely' — we're fans of Critical Role, Acquisitions Incorporated, High Rollers, and so many other shows. What could we possibly do that those shows aren't already doing?
But then we had an idea...
What if we made a TRPG live play show where every cast member played their character featured in Idle Champions, with a different 'formation'/cast for each adventure? And what if when you played Idle Champions during the week leading up to each episode, you could affect the episode through decisions you made? And what if the events in each episode would then affect Idle Champions afterwards? What could that look like?
We've tried doing interactive integrations with TRPG shows before, with High Rollers and Acquisitions Incorporated: The "C" Team, so we had some ideas when it comes to these kinds of projects. What would happen if we took our lessons learned and made our own show, featuring a cast of amazing people playing the very Champions they have in Idle Champions?
Idle Champions Presents
We are excited to announce Idle Champions Presents, a TRPG live play special event series starting Monday, February 22nd. Each episode of Idle Champions Presents will broadcast live from 4PM until 7PM Pacific Time on the CNEGames Twitch.
Join Dungeon Master B Dave Walters (A Darkened Wish, Silver & Steel) as he takes Krystina Arielle (Sirens of the Realms, Star Wars: The High Republic Show), Erin M Evans (Brimstone Angels, Dungeon Scrawlers), and Mark Meer (Mass Effect, Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition) and a rotating cast of guest Champions on a grand tour of the Sword Coast across two different adventures based on Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms, starting with Idle Champions Presents: The Unfair Seas on February 22nd.
Idle Champions Presents: The Unfair Seas (February 22, March 1, and March 8) features special guests Vivid Vivka (Sirens of the Realms), and Luke Gygax. Our first adventure sees the Champions in a seaside town along the Sword Coast, where they investigate the mysterious disappearance of a merchant vessel.
Idle Champions Presents: A Fool's Errand (March 15, March 22, and March 29) features special guests Adam Bradford (Beyond Heroes and forthcoming Heores of the Planes), and Jen Kretchmer (Beyond Heroes, Silver & Steel, and forthcoming Heores of the Planes).
The fun starts on February 22nd at 4PM PT at Twitch.tv/CNEGames. We hope the audience enjoys participating in this as much as we have in putting it together!
Vote for the Show You Want to See
Idle Champions players will be able to influence the characters and events of upcoming Idle Champions Presents episodes through in-game daily votes. Starting on Tuesdays with the in-game daily reset (12PM PT), each vote will go live for 24 hours, with the sixth and final vote for the week ending on Monday at 12PM PT.
Daily votes will have both an In-Game Effect and a Livestream Effect. For example, if players vote for one of two Champions to be granted a boon for the next episode of Idle Champions Presents, that Champion would be granted a corresponding boon in Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms! We don't want to spoil everything that players will be able to vote for, but here's an idea of what a few of the daily votes might look like:
Inspiring Choice — Which (of two) Champion should receive inspiration?
In-Game Effect: The winner gains an in-game buff for the next week after the vote completes.
Livestream Effect: The winner gains inspiration (advantage on an ability check, a saving throw, or an attack roll) at the start of the next episode.
You're the DM Now! — Do the Champions meet goblins, or kobolds? Who explores the darkness? What funny affliction affects the chosen Champion?
In-Game Effect: these effects vary from nothing to altering the event structure of an event or replacing all the enemies faced during an adventure. It will vary from question to question. Have you ever wondered what would happen if you fought an army of Abyssal Chickens instead of Goblins on an adventure?
Livestream Effect: We don't know how this will affect the show, but chances are it will be hilarious.
Dice Roll! — Which Champion gains an Iris D6™?
In-Game Effect: Idle Champions Players get their own D6 to roll in-game for a variety of prizes. If you roll a '6' you get an extra-special prize -- and there's some bad luck protection to help you get all the prizes so long as you participate in every Dice Roll! throughout the season.
Livestream Effect: The chosen Champion gains a special Iris D6â„¢ to add to one of their D20 rolls in the next episode.
This is just two examples of the kinds of choices players will be able to make. We've been working closely with B Dave Walters to craft additional choices and surprises to reveal over the course of the series!
But wait, there's more: we are introducing Weekly Challenges each week that will vary between easy, medium, and difficult challenges to earn additional votes for daily votes. You can save these votes up for as long as you wish, using them all on the final vote in Week 6 if you wish. The choice is up to you!
The first vote begins on Tuesday, February 16 at 12PM PT in-game. You'll want to check in every day if you want the most chances to influence Idle Champions Presents — and don't worry if you miss a vote, the In-Game Effects are applied automatically so you won't miss out entirely!
What do I need to know?
Idle Champions Presents: The Unfair Seas begins on Monday, February 22nd with the first episode broadcasting from 4PM until 7PM Pacific Time on Twitch.tv/CNEGames. Daily votes for the first episode will begin the week before, starting on Tuesday, February 16th at 12PM Pacific.
We can't wait to see how this all comes together! We hope you'll join us in discussion about Idle Champions Presents on Twitter using the #IdleChampionsPresents hashtag and tagging @IdleChampions.
Festival of Fools is a time honored tradition in Sword Coast communities. Townsfolk engage in the usual gluttonous consumption of food and drink during the festivities, but they also play pranks on each other.
Unfortunately, one prankster has decided to play a practical joke on a Frost Giant nearby...
Festival of Fools 3 introduces Briv Steelmarrow, Half-Orc Paladin (Oath of Heroism), and brings back Rosie and Strix Beestinger. Players have until Monday, March 23 at 12PM Pacific to complete their Festival of Fools 3 unlocks and objectives.
Year 3 Champion: Briv Steelmarrow
Relentlessly brave but markedly uncouth, Briv Steelmarrow is a stalwart champion of the weak, innocent, downtrodden, and oppressed. Centuries ago, a cabal of Netherese mages experimented on Briv’s clan, gifting him with a magical metal inside his bones that he can pull through his skin and shape for attack or defense. Once a slaver, Briv sought atonement by joining the Order of the Lost Cause, an elite group of knights that travel across Faerûn, taking on quests that only fools would pursue.
Briv is a Tank, Support, and Healing Champion. He uses his Unnatural Haste ability to speed up area progression, and his Steelbones boosts his defense while buffing Champions behind him. When you want to add Briv to your formation, you can swap him with Calliope (Slot 5).
Weighing in at just under 30 pounds and with a grandmotherly demeanor befitting her advanced age, Rosie Beestinger is easily mistaken for someone on the wrong side of the “aggressor/victim†relationship. But this is a mix-up that few people make more than once.
Rosie Beestinger is a sassy DPS Champion. Her damage increases for each Champion in the formation younger than she is, and she catches and deflects incoming missiles.
When you want to add Rosie Beestinger to your formation, you can swap her with Tyril (Slot 10). For more information about Rosie, check out the Idle Champion Spotlight: Rosie Beestinger dev blog!
Year 1 Champion: Strix Beestinger
The Sorcerer known as Strix is from Sigil, the City of Doors at the center of the multiverse. Very little is known of Strix's heritage, even to herself, but it was recently discovered that she was a powerful member of the Skizzicks family, who long ago made a pact with Asmodeus, ruler of the Nine Hells, to become Tieflings.
Strix Beestinger is a 'Trash Witch' DPS Champion who attacks enemies with Fireballs. Her Poor Hygiene ability causes approaching enemies to take increased damage. When you want to add Strix to your party, you can swap her with Jamilah (Slot 11).
Year Three Variants
A Little Perspective — Pixies spawn at random in all non-boss areas. When a Pixie spawns, it shrinks a random Champion by 33%, decreasing their damage done by 99%. This effect persists until the Pixie causing it is killed. This effect can stack multiplicatively if multiple Pixies target the same Champion. Reach Area 75.
Nerves of Steel — Briv starts in the formation and can not be moved, removed, or swapped out. Normal enemies move faster and attack faster; bosses are unaffected. Reach Area 125.
A Delicious Diversion — A cart of tasty pies, baguettes, and other baked snacks takes up two slots in the formation; the cart has 100 hit points. Ravenous Crows and Famished Rats spawn randomly in each area. These additional creatures have armored health. If, for whatever reason, the cart is smashed, you immediately lose the area and go back to the previous area. Reach Area 175.
Year Two Variants
A Lighter Touch — Only Champions with a Strength (STR) score of 14 or lower may be used. Additionally, Champions with an Intelligence (INT) score of 14 or higher deal 400% increased damage. Reach Area 75.
Flay the Fools — During boss areas, Mind Flayers appear and attack the formation. While alive, Mind Flayers make all other enemies immune to damage. Reach Area 125.
Beestingers Unleashed — This adventure features unique dialogue created with the help of Strix & Rosie themselves! Strix and Rosie Beestinger begin the adventure in your formation with Strix asking Rosie what it means to be a Beestinger. No other Champions are able to be used, however, both Strix and Rosie Beestinger have increased damage, increased attack speed, and reduced Ultimate ability cooldowns. Additionally, Rosie Beestinger's Matriarch also doubles her health. Completing this adventure will unlock a bee outfit for both Rosie & Strix! Reach Area 175.
Year One Variants
Foolish Variance — Champions randomly do between 0.1% and 199.9% of their actual damage with each hit. Reach Area 75.
Persistent Foolishness — The Drunken Fool appears randomly in non-boss areas. Only one can be spawned at a time, but he has special abilities each time he appears. Reach Area 125.
Like Father Like Son — The farmer's son takes up a slot in the formation. He moves to a new slot every 25 areas. Every 15 seconds (in non-boss areas) the farmer's son foolishly summons a Frost Giant to attack the formation unless Strix is adjacent to him. Reach Area 175.
