COTLI: Dr. Evil's Summer Sabotage 5!

Five years, five summer games -- and five times sabotaged by Dr. Evil.

Dr. Evil's Summer Sabotage returns, bringing a Para Rugby Crusader into play. Oona, Para Rugby Star promises to be a superbly-powerful DPS Crusader in the right formation. We can't wait!

This year's event runs until Tuesday, August 25th at 12PM PDT, introducing Oona, Para Rugby Star and bringing back Veronica, the Android Archer, Bubba, the Swimming Orc, The Gold Hound, Milgrid the Mining Mage, Dr. Evil, PhD, and Euodia, the Fencer!

New Tier 5 Crusader: Oona, Para Rugby Star

ANNOUNCER 1: Have you ever watched Para Rugby?
    ANNOUNCER 2: It's scary!
ANNOUNCER 1: And there's no one scarier on the field than Oona, Para Rugby Star.
ANNOUNCER 2: The fact that she is a Record Chaser is certainly noteworthy - her DPS increases exponentially as the enemy spawn rate increases.
    ANNOUNCER 1: Whoa!
ANNOUNCER 2: Yeah, it combines well with her Elven Stamina, which increases her DPS for every 25 levels over and include 200, multiplying her DPS by a factor of 4.
ANNOUNCER 1: What about her Blueshift? Have you seen that?
ANNOUNCER 2: I haven't yet, but I hear it somehow makes enemies weaker, reducing their effective level by 25 while retaining their damage and gold values.
ANNOUNCER 1: And of course, she also plays Murderball.
ANNOUNCER 2: Don't get me started on that - she's a force to be reckoned with! She can Turn on a Dime and improve Record Chaser even further.
ANNOUNCER 1: Would you say she has 'No Limits'?
ANNOUNCER 2: I certainly would. She is an asset to any formation.

New Tier 5 Objectives

  • Recruit Oona, Para Rugby Star | Oona, Para Rugby Star and two cheerleaders take up slots in the formation, moving every 100 areas. Cheerleaders buff gold found when gold-finding Crusaders are adjacent to them. DPS crusaders are unavailable.
    Reach area 400.

  • Quadrathlon | The four sketchy clones are back, each with a unique annoying power.
    Reach area 450.

  • Cauldron of Flame | There's a volcano in the formation! Upon entering each area, the volcano erupts, spawning between 5 and 10 indestructible fire monsters.
    Reach area 475.

  • Sporting Supplies | Demonic sports supplies occupy six prime slots in the formation.
    Reach area 500.

  • Golden Gun | A mysterious man occupies a slot in the formation, and buffs your DPS.
    Reach area 525.

Help! Where’s the Loot?

Equipment for event Crusaders can be found in Silver and Jeweled Crusader Games Chests, which you can earn from objectives and the free play or buy in the shop. Each non-recruitment objective will drop a chest for its given tier of Crusaders, and free play will drop All Tier chests. Gear for Tier 2, Tier 3, Tier 4 and Tier 5 Crusaders will only appear in All Tier chests once you've unlocked the respective Crusaders. You can select the tier of chest you buy in the shop when you go to purchase chests with real money or event currency.

What About Older Event Crusaders?

Previously-available Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3, and Tier 4 Crusaders are once again available to unlock as part of Dr. Evil's Summer Sabotage 5. For more information about those Crusaders, check out our Event Blogs from previous years:

BW2: Endangered Species Mini Event, Round Two!
Posted in Bush Whacker 2.

Endangered Species

Habitats are changing, and it's endangering many different animal species. Carson Tiva has found that three different endangered species can currently be found in Bushwhackia, as they search for new places to live.

They are:

The Indus Dolphin - An endangered river dolphin, said to have adapted to fresh water after their native sea evaporated ages ago.

Hawksbill Turtle - A critically endangered sea turtle that's lost critical nesting sites due to coastal developments

Amur Leopard - A critically endangered species that's in desperate need of protection from poachers.

Like you did during Carson's last visit, apply your bush whacking skills to help them collect Conservation Data on these unique animals for the limited time they're here. To gather data, you just have to give them a whack with your sword or other whacking implement. With said data, Carson Tiva can use it to try and help what's left of these unique animals.

Which species you encounter in the fields will be random, so if you fall behind in finding one of the three animals, you can start one of Carson Tiva's pursuit quests. You can do one pursuit quest every 20 hours.

Your efforts will not go unrewarded! Carson Tiva will trade you for this data in their store, plus you'll earn a unique plaque for your contributions! Like event ribbons, this plaque will increase your maximum energy based on your performance.

Collect data, complete the achievements, and earn rewards!

In addition to a new set of species, Bush Buck Bundle, and energy boosting plaque, you can earn a new Hibernating Bear ranch item reward!

Go to the event area of the Commons to get started, and gather as much data as you can before noon on Tuesday August 11th, PDT!

Idle Champions: Ahghairon's Day 3
Posted in Idle Champions.

Each year the citizens of Waterdeep celebrate Ahghairon's Day, honoring the first Open Lord of Waterdeep and the founder of the Lords of Waterdeep. Common folk leave violets and effigies at Ahghairon's Tower and the House of Wonder, Lords toast Ahghairon and the Watchful Order, and Guildmasters offer toasts in the name of the Lords.

For this year's festivities, the party has received an assignment from the Open Lord of Waterdeep, Laeral Silverhand — and when the Open Lord calls, you must answer...

Ahghairon's Day 3 introduces Omin Dran, CEO and founder of Acquisitions Incorporated, and brings back Jim Darkmagic, the most famous and powerful wizard from Acq Inc, as well as Ishi Snaggletooth. Players will have until Monday, August 17th, 2020 at 12:00PM PDT, to complete their event unlocks and objectives.

Year Three Champion: Omin Dran

Omin Dran built the organization called Acquisitions Incorporated to facilitate his quest to find his true sister, at least in part. Despite his unprecedented success in establishing the market for franchised adventuring across the Sword Coast and beyond, Omin's full measure eludes most people. He is known to be a worshiper of Tymora, ruthless in matters of business, feckless in matters of love, and hopeless in games of chance. He is often accused of being a Masked Lord of Waterdeep, though that would explain some things...
Omin is a Gold Find and Support Champion. He uses Champion of Tymora to buff adjacent allies and Contractual Obligations to increase Gold Find. When you want to add Omin to your formation, you can swap him with Nayeli (Slot 3).

For more information about Omin, check out the Idle Champion Spotlight: Omin Dran dev blog!

Year Two Champion: Jim Darkmagic

James Winifred Darkmagic III is the scion of a mysterious, multi-planar wizarding family. As an entertainer and purveyor of the 'Jim Darkmagic Experience,' the legendary mage can often be found in markets and town squares performing feats of mundane legerdemain. The renown he has earned for these feats is nearly equaled by the reputation that follows him as a Chief Arcanist (and occasional arsonist) for Acquisitions Incorporated.
Jim is a DPS and Support Champion. His Wand of Wonder offers varied Support effects, and his Magic Magic Magic Magic increases the DPS of Champions with magic base attacks. When you want to add Jim to your formation, you can swap him with Minsc (Slot 7).

For more information about Jim, check out the Idle Champion Spotlight: Jim Darkmagic dev blog!

Year One Champion: Ishi Snaggletooth

Ishi Snaggletooth hails from a warren of Kobolds living in the sewers under Baldur's Gate. Always the type to be more curious than careful, she accidentally stowed away on a ship headed to Port Nyanzaru. There, she met her dear friend, the Firbolg Littlefox. Often shunned by humans, Ishi hopes to prove herself as a true hero however she can. Ishi's biggest claim to fame is the defeat of the known swordsman, Hershel Von Saberburg, and since that day she's touted herself as a renowned duelist to anyone that'll listen to her.
Ishi is always the fastest Champion in your formation. She increases her own damage as well as the party's Gold Find based on the number of non-human members. When you want to add Ishi to your party, you can swap her with Jarlaxle (Slot 4).

For more information about Ishi, check out the Dev Blog: Champion Balance Update (March 2020) dev blog!

Year Three Variants

  • Lords of Waterdeep — Word has gotten around that you're searching for an ex Lord of Waterdeep, and fans of the city's ruling council join your adventure. A 'masked lord' of Waterdeep starts in your formation. Every 25 areas, another one joins you, filling the formation from the back to front.
    Reach area 75.

  • Vajra's Command — Vajra Safahr, The Blackstaff, suggests you take only the heartiest of the Champions with you on this endeavor. Omin counters that there are none heartier than Acquisitions Inc. Only Champions with CON 14 or higher, and/or an affiliation of 'Acq Inc "C" team' or 'Acquisitions Incorporated' can be used.
    Reach area 125.

  • Fortune Favors the Bold — Omin starts the adventure in the formation and cannot be moved or swapped out. Whenever a Champion attacks a non-boss enemy and kills them, the next base attack cooldown of Champions adjacent to them is reduced by 0.25 seconds. Whenever a Champion attacks a non-boss enemy and doesn't kill them, the enemy moves 100% faster and deals 100% more damage. This effect can stack additively.
    Reach area 175.

Year Two Variants

  • Spelling "Bee" — Our Champions continue to struggle to spell "Ahghairon's day". Spelling Bees spawn at random, reducing the DPS of whomever kills them by 90% for 20 seconds. If that Champion kills another Spelling Bee before their debuff expires, the effect stacks and resets the cooldown back to 20 seconds.
    Reach area 75.

  • Magical Misadventure — Only Champions whose base attacks are magical may be used.
    Reach area 125.

  • Center of the Multiverse — Jim Darkmagic starts the adventure in the formation and cannot be moved or swapped out. Only formation slots which Jim considers to be useful to himself may be used (the columns in front of and behind him).
    Reach area 175.

Year One Variants

  • Memory Magic — Two slots in your formation are affected by a magical spell causing all of the bandits to fight for the Eye of Gruumsh spellcaster. These affected slots change every 15 seconds by moving to a random adjacent slot. Heroes in affected slots must concentrate on resisting the magic, so they are unable to attack and all their Formation Abilities are disabled.
    Reach area 75.

  • Orcs Among Us — One, two, or three Powered-up Orc Fighters spawn randomly with each wave. They have triple health, do triple damage, they do not drop any gold, and they do not count toward any quest progress.
    Reach area 125.

  • No Humans Allowed — Ishi has been shunned by humans too many times, and for once she just wants them to see how it feels! You cannot use Human Champions in this variant.
    Reach area 175.

BW2: Coppers of the Creature Collector Mini Event - Neapolitan Unicorns!
Posted in Bush Whacker 2.

Coppers of the Creature Collector

The eccentric Creature Collector has returned to the Commons, this time with a trio of Neapolitan Unicorns!

Head to the event area and choose one to train. You have until noon on Wednesday August 5th to complete the collector's four daily quests, level up your chosen creature, earn Creature Coppers to spend in their store, and get another page to your Creature Collector's Compendium!

The Compendium Page will be given after the event ends at noon on Wednesday August 5th. If you don't have the Creature Collector's Compendium ranch item, you'll get it when you get your first page.

After the event, the collector will be taking their creature back unless you adopt it by purchasing its corresponding pet pack, available starting Monday August 3rd.

Train hard, Bush Whackers!

Note: The VIP "Quest Reset" power does not reset these mini event quests, and they are not affected by the Time Turner and Timey Whimey Watch.

Ye Olde Creature Collector's Galleria - Pets

When you speak to Tanela Tiva in the event area, you can select the "What past pets are for sale?" chat option.

This will open a new store, which will contain 3 non-event premium pets you have never owned! They cost Bush Bucks, like in event stores. The selection will change next time Tanela Tiva visits to event area.

We've done this in response to players asking to see old premium pets they've missed out on, to help you fill out your pet collection. Snag those old-school pets you're missing out on!

Idle Champion Spotlight: Omin Dran
Posted in Idle Champions.

It's time for our newest Champion Spotlight! Today, we're previewing the release of Omin Dran, half-elf cleric of Tymora, and CEO of Acquisition's Incorporated. Read on to learn about this new and exciting Champion releasing next week in Ahghairon's Day!

Omin Dran is a the CEO and founding member of the Acquisitions Incorporated, played by Jerry Holkins. He joins his 'employees' from Acq Inc: Jim, Môrgæn, Rosie, K'thriss, Donaar, and Walnut.

I. Ominifus Hereward Dran

II. Omin's Stats

Race: Half-Elf Alignment: Lawful Neutral
Class: Cleric Gender: Male
Age: 43 Affiliation: Acq Inc

STR: 16 DEX: 8 CON: 14
INT: 11 WIS: 18 CHA: 12

Eligible for Patrons: Vajra

III. Omin's Design

Omin's power comes from spreading Champion of Tymora to as many other Champions in the formation as possible. Using other Acq. Inc. or "C" Team members make this easier. Depending on the number of Champions of Tymora active and the specializations you pick, Shadow Council can be heavily buffed. Choose a specialization that is more challenging to effectively use results in a bigger bonus. Finally, Omin has an ability that increases gold find based on him being behind a big column in the formation.

Okay, now it's time to talk details...

IV. Omin's Abilities

Basic Attack

  • Appropriate Intervention — Omin smashes the nearest enemy with his gigantic two-handed maul.

Formation Abilities

  • Shadow Council — Increases the damage of Champions adjacent to Omin by 100%
  • Champion of Tymora — Whenever Omin attacks he recruits all adjacent Champions to be Champions of Tymora for 3 seconds. Champions of Tymora have their damage increased by 100% and cause any other Champions adjacent to them to become a Champion of Tymora when they attack. The three second duration is reset if they are granted this ability again before it expires.
  • Contractual Obligations — Omin contracts the Champions in the column in front of him to fight on his behalf. Each time they attack they grant Omin one stack of Obligation Fulfilled. Once Omin reaches 100 stacks, he provides a 100% gold find buff for each Champion in the column in front of him, stacking multiplicatively. This effect lasts for 30 seconds.
  • Known Associates — The duration of Champion of Tymora is doubled on Champions with the Acquisitions Incorporated and/or The "C" Team affiliation.

Specializations

  • Long-Lost FriendsShadow Council now only applies to Champions who are not adjacent to Omin, and the effect is increased by 85% for each Champion affected by Champion of Tymora, stacking multiplicatively.
  • Close Allies — Increase the effect of Shadow Council by 100% for each Champion affected by Champion of Tymora, stacking multiplicatively.
  • AssassinShadow Council now only applies to Champions in the slot(s) furthest from Omin (following slot adjacencies, not as the bird flies), and the effect is increased by 125% for each Champion affected by Champion of Tymora, stacking multiplicatively.

Ultimate Ability

  • Spirit Guardian — Omin summons 15 Spirits to aid him in battle. They fly around the monster side of the screen in a random pattern and one explodes at random every 2 seconds, dealing damage in a large radius. While any of Spirits remain alive, the base duration of Champion of Tymora is increased to 6 seconds.

V. Omin's Equipment

Slot 1: Global DPS
Slot 2: Shadow Council
Slot 3: Champion of Tymora
Slot 4: Contractual Obligations
Slot 5: Ultimate Damage
Slot 6: Ultimate Cooldown

VI. Conclusion

We're excited that the long-awaited CEO of Acq Inc is joining Idle Champions in the Champion capacity! We are excited to see how well he fits into the Idle Champions meta. If you have feedback, let us know in a Community Q&A or Champion feedback post on the Idle Champions Subreddit, on the Steam forums, or on the Official Idle Champions Discord!

Dungeons & Dragons Summer Spectacular Updates

New Features

Today's update brings an exciting new feature to Idle Champions to more platforms; Multi-Party Mode and Modron Automation Beta! We've been enjoying and implementing your feedback during the initial Beta period and we're expanding it out to more platforms! We're really excited to see how this shakes up the meta. We've been having so much fun in the office creating multiple parties.

In case that wasn't enough stuff to get you excited, this week's update also includes the addition of three new gem familiars, a new Champion skin in each patron's shop, and some new DLC. More on those below!

Dungeons & Dragons Summer Spectacular Multi-Part Mode

Multi-Party Mode

Multi-Party Mode is a system by which players can run multiple formations on multiple adventures at the same time, using a unique set of Champions and familiars on each one. You can unlock additional party slots in order to start using multiple parties at the same time, and catch up on variants or progress through the Patron Challenges faster!

To unlock an additional party, tap the Multi-Party icon from the map screen while not actively running an adventure, and complete the requirements. To unlock your first party you must have two champions in each bench slot and complete the adventure Split the Party. Unlocking more party slots will require you to complete variants of Split the Party, as they become available.

Each party progresses through its given adventure simultaneously. No two parties will be able to run the same base adventure or variant, but they can be running the same free play at the same time if you wish. Different parties can adventure under the banner of different patrons at the same time. We're excited to see how this shakes up the meta of certain dominant Champions and their bench slots.

Dungeons & Dragons Summer Spectacular Modron Automation

Modron Automation

Modron Automation is a system through which you can do two things: automate certain tasks in the game for one of your adventuring parties and provide additional buffs to that party. Your first modron core is unlocked when you unlock your first additional adventuring party, and one additional core can be purchased for gems, for now.

A Quick Primer on Modron Automation:

To begin, assign a Modron Core to an adventuring party. Next, use components you find in Modron Component Chests to route Psychomorphic Energy from the Energy Generator into the Modron Automation Component (to unlock automating the party) and Modron Core Outputs (to buff the party). While the automation tile does not require a specific amount of power, using certain components to increase the power of the flow can provide larger buffs from the Modron Core Outputs.

How do I enable the Automation Setup?

In order to enable the "Setup Automation" button, you must route the Psychomorphic Energy from the Energy Generator to the Modron Automation Component using components you find in Modron Component Chests.

    What can be automated?

You can currently automate three things:

    • Formation loading When enabled your Modron Core will automatically load a specific saved formation when you begin an adventure with the adventuring party it is assigned to. The saved formation chosen depends on the requirements of the adventure you start. Different saved formations can be chosen by using the selector at the bottom of the automation dialog.

    • Automatic resets When enabled your Modron Core will automatically reset and restart your adventure when you complete a chosen area. This only functions when you are on a free play adventure and for event free plays, it will only trigger if you have enough event currency to start the free play again. When combined with formation loading this can automate farming of gems, patron currencies, challenges, and more.

    • Automatic buffs When enabled, your Modron Core will automatically use certain potions upon reaching certain areas. This can allow you to increase the efficiency of your automatic runs, provided you have enough potions available.

How do I get more Modron Components?

You can get Modron Components from Modron Component Chests. Chests are awarded when you unlock a Modron Core or level up a Modron Core, and may also be purchased for Patron Currency in the Patron Shop.

    How do I upgrade components?

Modron Components can be upgraded to the next rarity level by using Modron Component Pieces. You get pieces by breaking down components you don't want to keep. It takes more pieces to upgrade higher rarity components, but you also get more pieces for breaking down higher rarity components.

How do I get more Modron Cores?

An additional Modron Core is available for purchase on the Current Parties dialog by clicking the "Buy Additional Cores" button at the bottom. More cores will be added in the future.

How do I unlock more areas in my Modron Core Grid?

Modron Cores gain one xp every time the party they are assigned to completes an area. When they level up you get a Modron Component Chest and unlock a new region of the grid with new spaces and outputs and explore.

My Modron is Overheating! How do I prevent that?

Modron Cores will overheat if there is an infinite loop in your component layout. To avoid this, look for areas of red flow and rearrange your components so that the flow does not flow back into itself. While a Modron Core is overheating none of the outputs or automation tasks will function.

Why did my Modron Core stop automating after a week when I left it for two weeks?

Modron Cores can only automate for seven days before they need to be checked in on to refill their psychomorphic energy reserves. To prevent your Modron Core from pausing its automation, simply open up the core dialog once every seven days.

New Tier 5 Crusader: Koivu the Dryad

Tags: event, supernatural, flora, male, magic, support, good

Koivu the Dryad is heading out into the world, ready to start a new adventure for a new chapter in his life, having transitioned to a male form after long and thorough self-reflection. He's excited to make new friends with the other Crusaders and he's willing to lend his magic, and his squirrel friend, to help out while they're exploring what all the worlds have to offer.

New Tier 5 Objectives

  • Recruit Koivu the Dryad | Koivu the Dryad takes up a slot in the formation. Flora Crusaders receive a buff. Non-Flora Crusaders receive a debuff.
    Reach area 400.

  • Creatures in the Night | Dangerous monsters appear from the night. These special monsters are invulnerable unless targeted by Imani's Marked for Death ability. Areas are shrouded in darkness.
    Reach area 450.

  • Supernatural Delight | Only Base 20 Crusaders and the Tier 1 Event Supernatural Crusaders can be used.
    Reach area 475.

  • Fauna Exploring Flora | Only Animal Crusaders can be used in this reworked formation.
    Reach area 500.

  • Campfire RPG | Every boss is a twenty-sided die: the boss is randomly either a 1, 10 or 20. If it's a 1, its weaker than normal, if it's 10 then it's normal health, if it's a 20, it's stronger than normal.
    Reach area 525.

Help! Where’s the Loot?

Equipment for event Crusaders can be found in Silver and Jeweled Bigfoot Chests, which you can earn from objectives and the free play or buy in the shop.

Previously-available Littlefoot's Big Adventure Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3, and Tier 4 Crusaders are once again available to unlock as part of Littlefoot's Big Adventure 5. For more information about those Crusaders, check out our Event Blogs from previous years:

Players will have until Tuesday, August 4th at 12:00PM PDT to complete Littlefoot's Big Adventure 5.
