COTLI: Sunsetting Announcement

It is with heavy hearts that we are announcing that we will be sunsetting Crusaders of the Lost Idols in May 2022. This was not an easy decision. While we will no longer be adding any additional new content to the game beyond this date, all existing content will remain available and events will continue to run, albeit with no new Crusaders. The last new Tier 7 Crusader will arrive in Nate’s Candy Conundrum, launching on April 7th, and the last endless Season, Season 7: Sunset, will launch on May 4th.

The Codename Entertainment team is very proud of Crusaders of the Lost Idols. It has been an important part of Codename for the last seven years and will continue to have a cherished legacy at the company. We are grateful to everyone who has supported the game, and for the wonderful connections, we have made with the community: from Erika and Kat’s Crusaders Weekly stream to the hundreds of Community Q&As and beautiful coloring sheets shared by you all. Thank you for joining us on this adventure. Many Codename team members have worked on Crusaders at some point during their tenure, and it has a special place in all of our hearts, but most especially the sunsetting team: Erika, Kat, & Wilson.

While we are sad to announce the conclusion of Crusaders, we want to send it off with a bang. All accounts active within the past two years will receive a DLC package that includes over $100 of in-game items. This pack includes:
  • Red Panda taskmaster
  • Sea Slug taskmaster
  • Springy's Golden Epic slot 3
  • Unlock for Springy
  • Unlock for Torakichi
  • Unlock for Shir Brio
  • Unlock for The Alluring Viragallant
  • Unlock for Garnet
  • 5 Tier 7 Christmas chests
  • 5 Torakichi chests
  • 5 Tier 6 Educational chests
  • 5 Tier 6 Gardener's chests
  • 5 Tier 6 Superhero chests
  • 5 Runic Grab Bags
  • 5 Epic Trinket chests
  • All-new 7 day 50% Idol buff card (Endurance Training can apply)

We will be retiring support and discontinuing the creation of new updates for Crusaders of the Lost Idols in a staggered process between April 7th and May 4th. We plan to keep the servers for Crusaders running for as long as we are able. After the sunset, legacy events will turn on at the appropriate time but will not have any new content or Crusaders added. We will also be making some oft-requested quality of life updates before sunset.

  • Weekend Promos: Friday, April 8th will see the last weekend promo and newsletter and accompanying weekend chest.
  • Events: Nate’s Candy Conundrum Tier 7 will be the final event to have new content added, e.g. new objectives and a new Crusader. Nate’s Candy Conundrum Tier 7 will run from April 7th-19th.
  • Seasons: Season 6: The Clocktower is set to end on Thursday, April 28th. Crusaders of the Lost Idols will have an ultimate endless season; Season 7: Sunset, launching on Wednesday, May 4th. This season will have endless rewards for those who choose to continue playing.
  • Support: The in-game ticket page will close as of April 14th. Tickets will be answered until then. After April 15th, if you have issues with the game please email crusaders@codenameentertainment.com. We will be checking this intermittently to address major issues.

We would like to encourage our Crusaders community to try our other formation strategy management game: Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms. You can use the following code in Idle Champions to unlock the Celeste Starter Pack. You can find more info on entering codes in Idle Champions here.

MRHQ-KRX9-WKGH

Additionally, all existing Crusaders of the Lost Idols players who have been active within the past two years will find another code that you can enter in Idle Champions with the same Steam or CNEGames account. That code will unlock a collection of Champions, Champion Chests, Familiars, and Potions to help speed your progress. You can find that code by loading up your Crusaders game. The code includes:
  • Unlocks for the following Champions: Spurt (Slot 3), Krull (Slot 6), Black Viper (Slot 7), Hew Maan (Slot 8), and Nova V'Ger (Slot 11)

COTLI: Silver and Jeweled Chests Opening Update

Hail and well met Crusaders!

The normal Silver and Jeweled chests tend to pile up, don't they? Especially if you're doing Sprints for chests. And while we do have up to a x100 button for opening chests, that doesn't make opening hundreds of thousands of chests super easy.

Well, today's update introduces bigger versions of these chests, to help you clean up your chest inventory.

Mega and Ultimate Silver chests

There are two new Silver chest types on offer: the Mega Silver chest and the Ultimate Silver chest.
  • Mega Silver Chest
    • Costs: 1,000 Silver chests.
    • Contains a fixed amount of items, equivalent to opening 1,000 Silver chests: Common to Rare Buff Cards and Trinkets, Gold, and a set amount of Common Crafting Materials, based on your level of the Scrap Hoarder talent at the time of opening the chest.

  • Ultimate Silver Chest
    • Costs: 20,000 Silver chests, or 20 Mega Silver chests.
    • Contains a fixed amount of items, equivalent to opening 20,000 Silver chests: Common to Rare Buff Cards and Trinkets, Gold, and a set amount of Common Crafting Materials, based on your level of the Scrap Hoarder talent at the time of opening the chest.

Mega and Ultimate Jeweled chests

While they are rarer, Jeweled chests can still build up, so there are also two new Jeweled chest types on offer: the Mega Jeweled chest and the Ultimate Jeweled chest.
  • Mega Jeweled Chest
    • Costs 1,000 Jeweled chests.
    • Contains a fixed amount of items, equivalent to opening 1,000 Jeweled chests: Uncommon to Epic Buff Cards, Time Warps and Trinkets, a set amount of Epic Crafting Materials and Legendary Catalysts, and a set amount of Common Crafting Materials, based on your level of the Scrap Hoarder talent at the time of opening the chest.
    • If you're still missing any skins for the base 20 Crusaders, then opening a Mega Jeweled chest will guarantee a skin drop as well, in addition to the rest of the content.

  • Ultimate Jeweled Chest
    • Costs 10,000 Jeweled chests, or 10 Mega Jeweled chests.
    • Contains a fixed amount of items, equivalent to opening 10,000 Jeweled chests: Uncommon to Epic Buff Cards, Time Warps and Trinkets, a set amount of Epic Crafting Materials and Legendary Catalysts, and a set amount of Common Crafting Materials, based on your level of the Scrap Hoarder talent at the time of opening the chest.
    • If you're still missing any skins for the base 20 Crusaders, then opening an Ultimate Jeweled chest will guarantee a skin drop as well, in addition to the rest of the content.

You can find these new chests in the Store dialog. When you go to open them, they also respect the x10, x25 and x100 toggles. As well, there are also achievements for opening all 4 chest types.

Happy spring inventory cleaning!

COTLI: Merci's Mix-Up 7!

Merci is nothing if not tenacious. After six years of trying to find a match for a Valentine's Day outing, he's still game to try and try again with help from his ever-growing collection of friends.

This year Merci's new friend is Audre DeLarveie!

It's time for Merci's Mix-Up 7!

Merci's Mix-Up 7 runs until Tuesday, February 22nd, introducing Audre DeLarveie and bringing back Rosoideae, Alacrity the Matchmaker, Rocky the Rockstar, Sally the Succubus, Warwick the Warlock, Katie the Cupid, Frankie the Demon Crooner, and Ishtar!

New Tier 7 Crusader: Audre DeLarveie

Tags: Event, Dwarf, Elf, Female, Support, Gold

A long time ago, and just around the corner in a cozy little cottage, a dwarf and an elf loved each other very much and they had a daughter, whom they named Audre. They raised her with love and taught her to be kind and polite, but polite doesn't mean agreeing with everything people ask of her. She also developed a backbone.

One day, you're walking along the street and past the cottage where Audre is sitting outside with a table and a stack of pamphlets.

"Could I talk to you about people's rights?" she asks, holding out a pamphlet to you.

Intrigued, you read the pamphlet a bit. "This is really well-thought-out. What's the catch?"

She grimaces. "What do you mean, catch? Everyone deserves fair treatment, no matter their background or views, but we're not there yet. There's still more work to do."

You think about it for a second. "That makes sense. We could use your spirit," you say. "Wanna come with us? We travel through a lot of universes, you could get your message spread pretty far."

Audre crosses her arms and thinks for a minute, looking at her cottage. "March with pride across the multiverse? Count me in. Hannah, I'm going on an adventure!"

Hannah stepped out of the cottage and walked over to Audre and you. "Of course you are," she said, giving Audre a hug and kiss. "But come back from time to time, all right? I'll miss you."

"A herd of stampeding alien trash pandas couldn't keep me away," Audre smirked. "I'll come back in my downtime." Turning to you, she said, "Let's go!"

Audre has joined the party.

New Tier 7 Crusader: Xochitl, La Llorona

Rayna, Snickette and Morrigan were off hiking in a forest they'd found on the edge of a desert, exploring the interesting foliage and chatting away. The sun, still visible through the canopy, bathed the trees in a warm glow.

As they ventured further down the path, Rayna started getting an eerie feeling and glanced around, but all she noted was that the light seemed a little less bright. She watched as Snickette and Morrigan ran forward to investigate a stream that ran alongside the path and her feeling of wrongness grew stronger.

Right before Rayna's eyes, Snickette was suddenly dragged under the water. Morrigan tried to grab her friend's feet but Snickette was already gone. Rayna raced up to the water and pulled Morrigan behind her, readying a Fire Storm charge, which she directed at the spot where she could still see Snickette's cloak.

Nothing immediately happened. 5 heartbeats...10 heartbeats….20 heartbeats, and then the water erupted, revealing a ghostly figure.

"Give me the other child," it rasped. Rayna and Morrigan exchanged puzzled looks. The ghost pointed at Morrigan.

"Oi, I ain't no child ghostie," Morrigan said. "I'm a leprechaun, thank ye very much. And so's my friend you got there. Give her back!"

"I'm not a ghost, I'm Xochitl, La Llorona!" the ghost announced. Rayna and Morrigan looked at her blankly. The ghost hissed and tears started flowing down her cheeks. "Surely you must have heard of me?"

"Sorry dearie, but we've been lots of places and can't learn the myths of all of 'em," Morrigan replied. "Now, give back my friend!" Rayna readied another Fire Storm charge and gestured toward the ghost.

The ghost clenched her fists and the river splashed around her, but then she let out a sigh. With a flick of her wrist, a drenched Snickette was thrown from the river and started choking out water on the bank. "Fine, have her back. Just no more fire." She started to drift back down into the water.

Sucking in a breath of air, Snickette gasped "Treasure!" and Xochitl paused. More coughs racked her small frame, but Snickette managed to say, "the ghost had a lot of treasure down there."

Xochitl raised an eyebrow. "Those trinkets? They just happen to collect around me."

The three crusaders exchanged looks. Treasure was always handy. "Say, how about you come with us for a little while?" Rayna asked as she dismissed her Fire Storm. "I think you might have some fun."

Xochitl looked at the river and the tranquil forest. It had been getting a bit quiet lately, as the rumours had started to spread. "I'm in."

Xochitl, La Llorona is a Support and Gold Crusader. When you want to add her to your formation, you can find her in slot 24.

    New Tier 7 Objectives

    • Recruit Xochitl, La Llorona | Xochitl, La Llorona takes up a slot in the formation. Wendy the Witch and Jack O'Lantern start in the formation, and can't be removed. Only Wendy can do DPS. Xochitl, La Llorona damages all Crusaders in formation by 10% of their max health every second. Note: This will require having cleared the objective Bullet Hell on Ready Player Two to complete. Beat area 650.

    • Ghost Story | Henry, the Scaredy-Ghoul and Fright-o-Tron 4000 start in the formation, and can't be removed. Aside from locked-in crusaders, only Demon, Evil or Magical Crusaders can be used. Three old ladies occupy slots in the formation, telling ghost stories. They shift positions every 100 areas. Ghostbeard is curious if he stars in any of the stories and spawns randomly, scaring the old ladies and causing them to disable the DPS of adjacent Crusaders for 10 seconds. Note: This will require having cleared the objective Washed Up on World's Wake to complete. Beat area 750.

    • Malignant | Viktor the Vampire and Trixie the Treater start in the formation, and can't be removed. Aside from locked-in crusaders, only Demon, Evil or Magical Crusaders can be used. The play area randomly goes pitch black, and a random effect occurs before light returns. A camera monster spawns to take your picture to commemorate the moment. While the camera is alive, your gold find is reduced to 0. Note: This will require having cleared the objective Washed Up on World's Wake to complete. Beat area 800.

    • Hex | The Evanescent starts in the formation, and can't be removed. Aside from the locked-in crusader, only Demon, Evil or Magical Crusaders can be used. The formation has been changed. A witch occupies a slot in the formation. If you take longer than 20 seconds to clear the area, she wakes up and wipes your formation. Note: This will require having purchased the max level of the Arithmagician Talent to complete. Beat area 850.

    • Tooth Fairy | Crooked Crow starts in the formation, and can't be removed. Aside from the locked-in crusader, only Demon, Evil or Magical Crusaders can be used. One lucky kid occupies a slot in the formation. The evil witch spawns randomly and scares the kid, causing the upgrades and formation abilities of adjacent Crusaders to be disabled for 10 seconds. Note: This will require having purchased the max level of the Arithmagician Talent to complete. Beat area 900.

COTLI: Season 4, The Abyssal Chasm

We've been down, we've gone up, we've gotten wet and now it's time to get toasty!

Season 4 debuts the Abyssal Chasm theme and some new rewards from the reward tracks! Mind the lava and take a peak at these scorching updates!

    Changes for Season 4

We've changed up the following formation this season:

    Fun and Games

  • Dungeon Points, Dungeon Coins and Idol Bonus limit Extended - The cap on the Dungeon rewards has been increased from area 15,000 to area 17,500.

  • Changes to the base Dungeon Points and Coins drops - We've adjusted the base points and coins that drop from completing areas on the dungeon objectives, in order to encourage choosing the points or coins buff if you want to stock up on your currencies.

  • Changes to the Dungeon Points and Coins Buffs - The buffs that increase the Points or Coins that you'll get from your current dungeon objective have been increased to 300%.

  • More Awesome Rewards! - Both the free and the Mysterious Benefactor's pass route have had their rewards tweaked again for season 4, including a new Crusader reward and more Rune-related items! See the "Introducing Torakichi, the Greedy Tengu" section for more information on the new Crusader!

  • Updated Dungeon FAQ - The Dungeon FAQ has been updated with questions and answers about how the Dungeon Crusaders and difficulty scaling work.

  • Difficulty Scaling - This season we're trying out the difficulty scaling mechanic, to test your levels of power but keep the time spent on a reset in a manageable range. See the "Dungeon Scaling" section for more information.

  • Season 3 Skins Now Available! - If you missed getting these skins during the previous season, you can now purchase them for Dungeon Coins!

  • Dungeon Scaling

In addition to the normal difficulty level of the Dungeons, which is the same as the difficulty of the World's Wake campaign, there are two additional difficulty levels for the Dungeon objectives this season.

    Sample Start Objective Screen

You can see the new Difficulty Level section under the flavour text for the objective. When you've cleared area 10,000 on difficulty 1 and reset the world, then the objective will default to difficulty 2. Clearing area 10,000 on difficulty 2 will unlock difficulty 3. Don't worry: if it's too hard to make progress on a higher difficulty, you can toggle it back to a lower difficulty level.

By getting past area 10,000 on difficulty level 2, you'll start earning more rewards for your efforts. And if you get high enough you can earn up to 4% bonus idols. By getting past area 7,500 on difficulty level 3, your rewards will start going up, and you can earn up to 4.5% bonus idols if you have the power. The dungeon points and coins drops also increase up to area 17,500 on both higher difficulty levels.

Don't forget to check what difficulty you're using before you start the objective!

    Introducing Torakichi, the Greedy Tengu

For reaching level 8 on the free rewards track this season, or from the Dungeon Depot in future seasons, you can welcome your new clever friend Torakichi, the Greedy Tengu. Blending tengu with a myna bird, Torakichi is the Mindy contender you've been waiting for, with his Serial Copycat ability allowing you to copy most abilities of Crusaders in two random formation spots. The chosen formation spots change on every reset of the world.

When you want to use him, you can find him in seat 4 on the bench.

Torakichi, The Greedy Tengu - Normal look

Tags: Support, Animal, Male, Evil, Gold, Demon, Dungeon

Crusaders in formation spots Torakichi is copying will sport a random speech bubble icon near the top of their sprites.

Hover the Serial Copycat icon from Torakichi's bench information to see what spots in formation he's marked.

If Torakichi is in one of the randomly marked spots, then there will only be 1 green arrow leaving him.

Torakichi, The Greedy Tengu - Traditional Tengu skin

Effect: The Tradition effect removes the Animal tag and adds the Supernatural tag.

You can unlock Torakichi's skin from reaching level 18 on the rewards track and having the Mysterious Benefactor's pass purchased, or after season 4 is over by spending Dungeon Coins in the Dungeon Depot.

You can gear up Torakichi from earning the various rewards on the reward tracks, and from spending Dungeon Coins on his chests in the Dungeon Depot. Torakichi's recipes are also available from the rewards track or the Dungeon Depot as well.

We hope you enjoy Season 4 of the Dungeons! Good luck!
