Legendary Crafting Update

In today's 0.100 patch, we've added Crafting and Legendary Items to the game.

Crafting is a way to get specific gear for your Crusaders without having to get lucky while opening a chest. With the proper recipe and materials, you will be able to craft even the most epic gear. It's easier said than done, though, as gathering the materials and unlocking the recipe for the piece of gear you want isn't a walk in the park.

Gathering Material

Crafting Material is obtained by disenchanting duplicate gear. Previously, disenchanted gear turned into Enchantment Points for your Crusaders, which passively increased their DPS. Now, however, you will no longer get EP for duplicate gear. Instead, you'll gain a random amount of crafting material based on the rarity of the disenchanted item.

So how do you get EP for your Crusaders? Missions! Missions that award EP have been buffed considerably in terms of award and frequency so that you can still boost the EP of your favorite Crusaders to the same degree -- possibly even more so.

Crafting material drops are not retroactive, so regardless of how much duplicate equipment you've found in the past, you'll keep the EP you earned from it and will still start your crafting stockpile from scratch just like everybody else.

Crafting Recipes

All players start with the recipes for the Common and Uncommon gear for the initial 20 Crusaders. Crafting gear outside of that limited set require that you unlock additional recipes. How do you do that? Missions! New missions will now appear en-masse to help you learn new recipes. Each successful mission will unlock one or more rare or epic recipes. A special type of recipe mission will unlock all the common and uncommon recipes for a single event Crusader, giving you a way to deck out your newly recruited event Crusaders in basic gear, even outside of the event itself. Note that recipes for event Crusaders cannot be found during the event they unlock in or within 2 weeks of an event ending. For the purposes of recipes, the Crusaders in the 21+ slots are treated like event Crusaders.

As with crafting material, recipes has not been awarded retroactively. Everyone is starting on even footing when it comes to finding the rarest of recipes.

Legendary Gear

Legendary Gear is the ultimate equipment. In addition to a massively enhanced base bonus, twice as big as the epic equivalent, each piece of Legendary Gear comes with a whole new unique Legendary Effect that could completely switch up your formation. What's more, that effect can be leveled up indefinitely as long as you've got the crafting material to do so.

Getting Legendary Gear

There are a couple of things you'll need before you can get a piece of Legendary Gear. The first is the Epic version of the item you want. Crafting will make it easier to get specific Epic loot, but in general Jeweled Chests are your primary source for Epic items.

Upgrading Epic to Legendary gear.

The second thing you'll need is a Legendary Catalyst. Legendary Catalysts are new random drops from Jeweled Chests. They can also be obtained via rare Missions. They are consumed when you craft Legendary items. The number of Legendary Catalysts you need depend on how much Legendary Gear you're crafting at once. The first piece of gear will only take one Legendary Catalyst, but each piece of gear after that will take 66% more Catalysts, rounded to the nearest whole number. Every week after your first Legendary craft, the number of Catalysts required will decrease by 80%, to a minimum of one. Basically this is a long-winded way of saying if you want to craft more than one Legendary Item per week, it's going to cost you extra Catalysts.

But that's it! If you've got the Epic item you want to upgrade and the required number of Catalysts, you can simply click a button to upgrade your piece of Epic gear to a piece of Legendary gear, increasing its bonus and gaining access to its Legendary Effect.

Upgrading Legendary Gear

The power spike doesn't stop there. Once you have a piece of Legendary Gear you can upgrade its Legendary Effect by spending Crafting Material. You can choose to use Common, Uncommon, Rare, or Epic material, based on whatever you have lying around. The amount of material it takes increases with each level. It's worth it, however, as the Legendary Effect doubles with each Legendary Level.

Upgrading Legendary gear.

Oh, About Golden Epics...

For those of you with Golden Epics, don't dismay. You won't lose the Golden benefit when you upgrade to Legendary tier. All Golden Epics can be turned into Golden Legendaries for the same cost as upgrading a normal Epic to a Legendary. In addition, if you don't have a Golden Epic and craft a Legendary in its slot, a future flash sale may offer you the Golden Legendary directly.

We're exited to see what you guys come up with now that Legendary Effects are unlockable. There are dozens of new potential formations to explore, and even the most underappreciated Crusader may have a new lease of life once they have a few Legendary items at their disposal. Happy Crusading!

Carnage Cup 2017

Put on your cleats, Crusaders! It's time for the Carnage Cup: the most violent, the most painful, and by far the most exciting hand-egg ball competition in the whole universe! Recruit all four of the Carnage Cup Crusaders, including two brand new ones, as you throw, run, and kick your way to victory.

The tailgate party is underway and now the game begins starting today and running through to February 7th at Noon PST. For those players who haven't unlocked them already, this is your chance to add both Groklok and Drizzle to your roster.

Of course, as this is a 2017 update of the original event you can also collect two new Crusaders: Karl the Kicker and Cindy the Cheer-Orc.

New Tier Two Crusader: Karl the Kicker.

Karl the Kicker takes up the same slot as Natalie Dragon and has some cool abilities in his kit bag. At level 50 Split the Uprights divides your DPS evenly between the front-most and back-most enemies (if there's only one enemy, it will take full normal damage; if two, each takes 50% of total DPS).

At level 400, Karl unlocks Play Of The Game where the back-most enemy takes an additional 40% damage (multiplicative; so front-most takes 50% of total DPS, back-most takes 70% of total DPS)

New Tier Two Crusader: Cindy the Cheer-Orc.

Cindy the Cheer-Orc has some cool abilities hidden in her pom-poms. At level 50, she unlocks Top of the Pyramid which will buff other Crusaders' DPS up to 25% per slot based on how far away they are from Cindy. At level 400 her Practice Makes Perfect ability increases the effect of Top of the Pyramid based on the area you've reached by 10% (multiplicative) per 50 areas.

After you've completed the first new Tier Two objectives for Karl and Cindy, there are three more objectives to keep you busy.

New Tier Two Objective: Flag On The Play.

In Flag On The Play referees spawn as monsters, and when they die, they throw a flag on one of your Crusaders disabling their DPS and Formation Abilities for 30 seconds.

New Tier Two Objective: Stand By For This Important Word From Our Sponsor.

Stand By For This Important Word From Our Sponsor introduces TV sets interminably promoting various products you absolutely have to own. When a TV dies, you get a random positive or negative effect for a few seconds (e.g. reduced global DPS, reduced gold bonus, increased global DPS, or increased gold bonus).

New Tier Two Objective: Halftime Show.

The final new Tier Two objective is Halftime Show. A singer and several musical instruments take up space in your formation. The singer performs for 10 seconds every 10-20 seconds. Whenever the singer is singing, the deafening noise reduces your DPS by 99.99%. When she stops, your DPS returns at a rate of 5% per second.

Equipment for both Tier 1 and 2 Crusaders can be found in Carange Cup Silver and Jeweled Chests. However, gear for the Tier 2 Crusaders will only appear once you've unlocked the respective Crusader.

You'll have until February 7th at Noon PST to win the Championship and claim the Carnage Cup trophy. Go team!

Emo's New Moon 2016

Halloween is here! It always makes Emo reflective on the time he was in ghoul school. Relive his memories as he tells you the tale of what makes him emo, and tackle the 2016 edition of Emo's New Moon event!

Revisit the halls of his old school and the neighbourhood he used to call home, as you help to defeat the ghouls and haunts of his past. Don't be frightened; you're likely to survive.

Tier 1 Information

If it's your first time playing through our spooktacular Halloween event, or if you are finishing up Tier 1 to unlock the Tier 2, you get to tackle these objectives in order to move on. The requirements needed to start them are listed in the brackets.
  • Moonrise With Emo (100 Candies): Recruit Wendy the Witch while she debuffs adjacent Crusaders for each monster on the screen. Wendy swaps with Prince Sal, and once she's on your team, she gets DPS from having monsters on screen.

    Wendy the Witch

  • Bring Forth the Pumpkin (700 Candies): Recruit Jack O'Lantern by clearing area 100 while Jack occupies a spot and increases the damage Crusaders ahead of him take. Once he's on your team, he swaps with Natalie Dragon and gets power from tanking enemies.

    Jack O'Lantern

  • Power of the Wyrd Sister (1300 Candies, 500 Idols): Survive the onslaught of ghouls by clearing area 150 with double the enemies, double the quest item requirements and enemies dropping less gold and quest items.

  • Pumpkin Spice Tanke (1900 Candies, 1000 Idols): Reach area 200 with caffeine-powered monsters who are eager to reach you and do some damage.

  • All New! Trick or Treat (2500 Candies, 1500 Idols): Get to area 250 while special Trick and Treat monsters randomly spawn, giving you an awesome treat or a nasty trick on their demise.

    Trick or Treat?

Note: Since the Trick or Treat objective was just added this year, players who completed this event last year will need to do it prior to starting the Tier Two objectives, so be sure to save up 2,500 Candies before resetting to start the event!

Tier 2 Information

Once you've completed all of Tier 1 and have the Talent "Doing It Again" from the Talents shop, you are ready to get your fright on in the new objectives added for 2016!
  • The Scaredy-Ghoul (400 Candies): Recruit Henry, the Scaredy-Ghoul to your roster by escorting him to area 300 while he occasionally gets spooked and reduces your DPS to 0.

    Henry, the Scaredy-Ghoul

Henry, the Scaredy-Ghoul just wants to be left alone curled up in a corner with his blanket, but since you're nice enough to ask, he'll lend you his DPS power. When you swap out The Washed-Up Hermit for Henry, as long as no one is directly behind him, Henry's skill Spooked boosts his DPS by a whopping 250%.

  • Research and Development (700 Candies): Who doesn't need more robots to keep them company? Recruit the Fright-O-Tron 4000 by escorting her earlier prototypes to area 300.

    Fright-O-Tron 4000

Swapping with the Fire Phoenix, the Fright-O-Tron 4000 can't help being scary: it's how she was made. But she'll be supportive of your Crusaders when you use her. Oogy-Boogy decreases the maximum health of the monsters, and Remote Detonation has an explosive surprise for those looking to do you harm.

  • G-g-g-ghost! (2500 Candies): Reach area 400 with killer ghosts approaching your formation. Oh, and the ghosts are invincible (real ghosts can't be touched after all.)

    G-g-g-ghost!!

  • Scared to Death (2500 Candies): It's your Crusaders turn to be scared by all the death they've caused. Reach area 450 with every monster death frightening a random Crusader. When a Crusader gets scared enough, they go catatonic!

  • Halloween Hoopla (2500 Candies): The Halloween Crusaders have decided to go out and party, to get to know each other better. They've invited Bush Whacker, Khouri, Merci and Nate along for the ride, so that they can be healed while tanking and take advantage of blowing up the world when they're done. Help this party of 8 reach area 500 on your final journey of the event.
Craving more candies? Don't forget that you can use Time Warps to acquire them!

Good luck on your journey filled with haunts and frights! The event will run until Wednesday November 2nd at Noon PDT!

October Objectives!

We don't need roads where we're going! Mostly because to enjoy this week's update you just need a computer or mobile phone. Nike Mag shoes are optional.

This week we launch four new challenging objectives for the Idols Through Time campaign.

New Objective: Echoes

In the objective Echoes you'll encounter randomly spawned malevolent versions of your Crusaders that can't be killed for 30 seconds but will still deal damage to you. If they're at the forefront of the enemy's attack, they'll soak up all your DPS until they disappear. You're going to want to clear all 600 areas as soon as possible to beat them.

New Objective: Hamstrung

The objective Hamstrung will only allow you to use Crusaders that don't have a DPS tag all the way to area 600. Time to find a new main dps'er!

New Objective: The Lost World

The Lost World objective sees you transported back to the Jurassic period and attacked by a cornucopia of dinosaurs. These beasts include ones that are invisible, tanky, super-fast, and others that will do ranged damage to your formation.

The final new objective is Atrophy where all Crusaders will take 1% damage per second until you can clear the area. Then you start all over again until you can beat area 700.

Plus, this weekend we're buffing some October-loving Crusaders from today until Monday, October 17 at Noon PDT.

  • The Washed Up Hermit - Base DPS + 400%
  • The Princess - DPS All + 100%
  • Natalie Dragon - Gold Find + 100%
  • Nate Dragon - Double Dragon + 200%
  • Mister the Monkey - Follow the Leader + 200%

Also, check out the limited-time Octoberfun Jeweled Chests that contain equipment for the five Crusaders above! (Please note: The chest will only contain gear for Mister the Monkey if you've unlocked him.)

Good luck Crusaders, you'll need it!

The Big Update: The 11th Objectives!

We're pleased to announce our biggest update yet to Crusaders of the Lost Idols. Six new Crusaders are available to unlock from six brand new objectives in the existing campaigns.

Each of the six campaigns now feature a new eleventh objective that's going to require your very best strategies to beat.

Six New Crusaders!

You'll need to have completed all ten previous objectives (at Tier One) before you can tackle the new eleventh objectives for each campaign. For example, you can't start Descent into Darkness' eleventh objective until World's Wake's eleventh objective has been beaten.

The Exterminator

The Shadow Queen

Greyskull the Pirate

Gloria, the Good Witch

Ilsa, the Insane Wizard

Eiralon, the Blood Mage

As soon as you've unlocked the new Crusaders, you can start collecting gear for them too when you open chests. If you haven't unlocked the new Crusaders already, don't worry, gear drops will only be for the Crusaders you have available on your roster.

We're not going to spoil the surprise by telling you about their traits and formation abilities. We'll leave you to find that out for yourself. To get started, open up the Objectives menu and select 'Gray Goo' in the World's Wake campaign after you've completed all the other objectives.

To celebrate the launch of the 11th Objectives, five Crusaders will also get an Autumn's Upon Us weekend buff!

From today until Monday, September 26 at Noon PDT, Jim, Jason, Dark Gryphon, Sal and Draco all get a limited time buff applied automatically.

  • Jim the Lumberjack - Sharpen Party Ability +200%
  • Jason, Master of Shadows - Gold Find +100%
  • Dark Gryphon - All DPS +100%
  • Prince Sal, the Merman - Base DPS +400%
  • Serpent King Draco - Kingdom'sss Call Ability +200%

Also, check out the limited-time Autumnal Jeweled Chests that contain equipment for the five Crusaders above! (Please note: The chest will only contain gear for Serpent King Draco if you've unlocked him.)

The new objectives and Crusaders are all available from today. Good luck, Crusaders!

New Event! Sasha's Schoolhouse Scourge

Bummer. It's back to school season. After a long summer of doing anything and everything but schoolwork, it's time to get back to it and think about textbooks, homework and getting up on time for classes.

Of course, in the Crusaders' world, nothing is ever that simple. As Sasha steps back onto the school premises it's obvious something is up! The teachers are acting strangely. No chalk flicking, no detentions, and no attempts to intercept notes being passed around by students. The teachers must be possessed! Time to kick some demonic teacher ass and get this place back to it's usual dreary, soul-sucking normality.

New Crusaders: Karen, the Teenage Cat.

As is always the case with a new school year, there are new arrivals. Karen, the Cat Teenager is a restless character who changes position every ten levels for the first objective.

Once convinced you're cool, she'll use her surly teenage cat powers for good. At level 50, Karen can access a unique ability: Center of the Universe. Now all positive formation abilities that don't reach Karen apply to her at 50% of their effectiveness. At level 100, Karen contributes 1% of her DPS to click damage. At level 150 Karen can use her Nine Lives ability. If she is killed she'll instantly revive at max health but do 10% less damage (stacking). As the name suggests, she's able to use this ability eight times and it is refreshed by changing areas.

New Crusaders: Mr. Boggins, the Substitute.

The second new Crusader is poor old Mr. Boggins, the Substitute teacher. As if dealing with raucous classrooms full of kids wasn't bad enough, being the sub is one ring further down in hell.

You'll need to liberate him in the second objective which includes an exciting new challenge for the Crusaders. Every 15 seconds, Mr. Boggins will assign a random letter grade to the Crusaders with both positive and negative effects. The grades range from 'A+' which will increase the affected Crusader DPS by +100%, right down to 'F' which will wipe off 95% of the Crusader's DPS. The effect will last for 30 seconds at a time.

Mr. Boggins hands out random grades, both good and bad.

Once added to your roster, Mr. Boggins has some useful tricks up his sleeve. At level 50, he bonds with the newcomers in the class. His ability The New Students increases the DPS all the animal Crusaders by 200% and is further increased by 12.5% (additive) for each Human Crusader in the formation. At level 100, his ability Diversity Day increases the Gold Find by 10% for each non-human and non-animal Crusader in your formation (also additive).

The remaining three objectives include Nodding Off where a boring lecturer takes up a slot in the formation and reduces your DPS by 3% every second to a maximum of 99%. Clicking or changing areas (including auto-progress) resets the reduction to 0%. In Homework Time, monsters spawn randomly and bog down a particular Crusader with homework that reduces their DPS to zero until the homework is destroyed. The effect lasts for a further 10 seconds after that.

New Objective: Homework Time reduced Crusaders to zero DPS.

In the final new objective Private School the Crusaders must escort three stuck-up private school kids to area 250. Private school isn't cheap so they reduce your gold bonus to 0% until you can offload them at their exclusive place of learning.

The Sasha's Schoolhouse Scourge event will run until September 13th at Noon PDT.

New! Idols Through Time Campaign

We are delighted to tell you about a very special permanent campaign this week. We've partnered up with our good friends at HyperHippo Games, the creators of AdVenture Capitalist for a special addition to Crusaders of the Lost Idols.

But first, let us tell you more about your impending adventure through time. That's right; the brand new permanent campaign is all about time travel.

Our dauntless Crusaders are tasked with hunting down rogue robots that are wreaking havoc on their friend Doctor Finklebottom's laboratory. It's a desperate race to save Finklebottom's breakthrough experiments that concern matters of quantum physics and black holes that enable him to invent time travel.

Sobbing Cherubs can only be killed by clicking

His experiments have made history, figuratively and literally, as now the Crusaders can travel through time from the age of the dinosaurs all the way through to the future!

Featuring a new Flux Capacitor formation, the Idols Through Time campaign will require a minimum of 5,000 Idols to start the first objective. Things get increasingly more demanding from there as the final objective requires a whopping 10,000 Idols minimum!

The Lost in Time objective will see slots in your formation blocked with relics from each epoch you visit. In the Time-Lost Bosses objective, you'll encounter much more powerful bosses than you're used to battling.

The final two objectives are Nostalgia Trip, where only the original 20 Crusaders are available for selection (no Event Crusaders), and Lone Pine Mall where you're going to try your best to clear area 600.

Dr Finklebottom creates a wormhole to Adventure Capitalist

Dr Finklebottom's work has also had another perverse effect of linking universes. Incredibly the ingenious professor has opened a portal to a parallel universe of AdVenture Capitalist.

It's in these boom years of industrialization and economic growth the Crusaders will meet the celebrity managers from the enormously popular clicker game, AdVenture Capitalist.

It's not going to be easy to 'out-entrepreneur' history's best entrepreneurs from the 1950s, but that is what the team must do to have a chance of beating any objective between areas 71 and 85.

You have to 'out-entrepreneur' the AdVenture Capitalist managers

The popular celebrity managers W. W. Heisenbird, Jim Thorton, Forest Trump and more will all try and stop our Crusaders' money-making ways enabling them to leave for the next time zone.

But wait, there's more! We're also launching a brand new weekend buff. It's Wibbly Wobbly Wackiness here are Codename Entertainment and for the duration of the weekend, five Crusaders will be receiving massive buffs to their abilities.

The Bush Whacker, Detective Kaine, the Dark Gryphon, Sal and Bat Billionaire will all get a limited time buff applied automatically this weekend. Plus, there's a unique Wobbly chest featuring gear just for those five Crusaders!

  • The Bush Whacker - +5% increase in Critical Click Chance.
  • Detective Kaine - Increase all gold found by 100%
  • Dark Gryphon - +100% increase in DPS for all Crusaders.
  • Sal, the Merman - Increase the Base DPS for Sal +400%
  • The Bat Billionaire - +100% increase in DPS for all Crusaders.

New Event! Gardeners of the Galaxy

Brash adventurers Nate Dragon and the Crusaders finds themselves the object of an unrelenting giant alien plant that is slowly taking over the galaxy.

Nate and gang are forced into an uneasy truce with a duo of disparate misfits. Robbie, a gun-toting raccoon, and Broot, a fibrous humanoid. Unfortunately for Nate and his new found friends they attract the attention of the galaxy's law enforcement and get thrown in space jail.

If they are going to save the known universe, they will have to breakout and head to the evil monster plant's home planet and give it a planetary-sized dose of Roundup.

New Crusder: Broot

New Crusader: Robbie, the Raccoon

After earning the requisite 100 seed spores, winning over Robbie and Broot will require some skillful Crusading for the first and second new objectives. However, once they join your ranks, their rascally charm will be a welcome addition to your band.

When partnered in the same formation the inseparable miscreants buff each other with devastating effect. Starting at level 100, Broot increases the DPS for Robbie by 100% if he's in the column in front. At Level 150, he conveys the same buff next to Robbie.

Reciprocating, Robbie enables Broot to take 25% less damage if he's in the column in front at level 50. By level 75 Broot gets a 50% health boost when adjacent to Robbie.

New Objective: Inifinity Stone

The remaining three objectives include 'The Infinity Stone', where the Crusaders must transport a randomly debuffing alien artifact to area 150. Crusaders next to the pulsating stone have their DPS penalized at random intervals.

'Displaced Wildlife' sees an outrageously cute fawn, rabbit and skunk occupy formation slots while the Crusaders slog their way to area 200.

New Objective: Displaced Wildlife

The final new objective, 'Gardeners, Unite!' only allows the selection of the most weird Crusaders available for selection. The ragtag ensemble must then use their disconnected abilities to beat area 250.

I am Broot. I am Broot. I am Broot!
