We don't just love making games, we also love playing them. We look forward to Extra Life every year, but 2023 is extra special special: Codename Entertainment will be participating in our TENTH year of fundraising for BC Children's Hospital!

Welcome Back, Extra Life!

Since 2008, Extra Life has raised over $130 Million USD for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. The money raised is donated as unrestricted funds for hospitals to use as needed. And how does Codename Entertainment help raise that money? By doing what our community loves to do already: playing games together!

As soon as Todd Stashwick was approached about making a charity familiar for Idle Champions he knew who he wanted to make. In real life, Boom Boom had a name before the Stashwicks even adopted him. Knowing one day they would get a new dog, they started referring to their future pet as Boom Boom. Now, Boom Boom comes to Idle Champions as a barkeep who doesn't have time for problems in his tavern! For those unfamiliar with Todd Stashwick, he is known for his numerous acting roles and star power, as well as several D&D charity games. Fans of the Black Dice Society will recognize him as Rudolph van Richten towards the end of the series.

Together our goal is to raise money for Extra Life, which is a fundraising program of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals®. Help them continue their efforts this year by purchasing Boom Boom and by visiting their site right now!

It was a joy to get to work with Doctor B for this charity familiar. For those unfamiliar with him, Doctor B is the Clinical Director for Take This and a frequent contributor to the YouTube channel How to ADHD. He also co-hosts for Champions of Psychology on our Twitch Channel. Doctor B doesn't just enjoy playing Dungeons & Dragons - he's an expert in the applied use of tabletop role-playing games in clinical and learning settings! Tabletop games mean a lot to him, and his love for them and Idle Champions shines through in Psyche the Amethyst Pseudodragon.

Together our goal is to raise money for Take This, whose mission is to decrease the stigma and increase the support for mental health in the game enthusiast community and inside the game industry. Summer looks a little different this year in Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms - introducing The Summer of Legends!

The Summer of Legends begins Wednesday June 14th at 12pm Pacific! Log in to Idle Champions for seven days of in-game rewards you will get just for playing the game!

Daily Rewards

Every day during the Summer of Legends you can log in and open a new Summer Chest, but each chest is only available for 24 hours! Every chest contains five awesome items, hand-picked by the team here at Codename Entertainment to help you in your adventures. Once you have claimed at least four daily Summer Chests, you unlock the bonus prize: King Bruenor! This bonus includes an epic new skin for Bruenor, a new Feat, and 5 Gold Bruenor Chests!

Today starts the preview of Idle Champions Season 4: Legends of Mithral Hall. For those that don't know, every new Season in Idle Champions we update some or all of the mechanics for Champions connected to the Season. And the week before the Season starts we release those updates for that Seasons Champions. We had an absolute blast working with Johnny Staton for this charity familiar. For those not familiar with him, Johnny Stanton is an NFL player who has played for several teams, as well as the Dungeon Master of the four-part series Of Dawn and Dusk. He is a MASSIVE fan of Dungeons & Dragons, and even started a D&D Club in the locker room of the Cleveland Browns called The Heathens. He's also published his own Paladin Subclass on DMs Guild called the Oath of the Executioner!

The Twiggy the Twig Blessing Familiar will raise money for One Tree Planted, a group that wants to plant as many trees as they possibly can. Since 2014, they have doubled their planting counts year after year - and in 2022 they planted a total of 52.7 MILLION trees! A Familiar Quest returns with new adventures, new familiars, and one of the original cast in the DM's chair! Read on to learn more!

A Familiar Quest Series Three

The third series of A Familiar Quest returns to Mondays at 5pm Pacific starting April 3rd! In this next round of episodes, Eugenio Vargas takes over the DM seat, with players Alicia Marie, Meagan Kenreck, Brian Gray, and Kelli Butler. Once again some of the familiars have taken on new forms - and you won't believe what changes they've made! Be sure to be there live for the premiere on April 3rd on our Twitch channel. And if you miss the livestream, all episodes will be available on our YouTube.

Also starting on April 3rd you can purchase A Familiar Quest Series Three familiars in Idle Champions, so they can help you in your adventures! It was an absolute joy to work with Jasmine Bhullar for this charity familiar. Idle Champions players will probably know her best for her work with Critical Role, Dimension 20, Shikar, and Live Shows with Acquisitions Incorporated. She is an accomplished DM and Player and was part of the recently successful Kickstarter for DesiQuest. Jasmine also streams regularly on her Twitch Channel.

The Isra the Infernal Horned Toad familiar will raise money for Girls Who Code, whose mission it is close the gap in gender inequality in the tech industry, as well change what people think of when they picture what a programmer looks like. They are doing this through Summer Programs, Clubs for students 3rd - 12th grade, as well as Collegee and Career Programs!

We're thrilled to collaborate with Alicia Marie for the release of Misty the Will-O'-Wisp Familiar, coming live to Idle Champions on February 15th, 2023! The net proceeds of all Misty sales from the first week of launch will be donated to the BIPOC Support Foundation.

We worked with costume designer and performing artist Alicia Marie to bring Misty the Will-O'-Wisp to Idle Champions.

Alicia is a creative artist who crafts spectacular costumes and cosplays for countless characters. There is a very good chance you have seen her work already! She can also be seen on a variety of liveplay TTRPG shows - in fact, Idle Champions players may recognize Alicia from Champions of the Realm, where she played the Dwarven Cleric Barrowin Undurr.

When creating Misty the Will-O'-Wisp Familiar, Alicia was inspired by Misty Copeland, a celebrated dancer with the prestigious American Ballet Theatre. Misty became the first African American woman to be promoted to principal dancer at the ABT, the most prominent position a dancer can receive in a ballet company.

The Misty the Will-O'-Wisp familiar will raise money for the BIPOC Support Foundation, an organization committed toempowering the lives and communities of Black, Indigenous, and Persons of Color, providing equitable resources for mentorship and economic support, and evolving educational opportunities for all individuals, regardless of class, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, or ability/disability status.

For the fifth year in a row, we're thrilled to be working with Take This on a charity fundraiser! Take This is a mental health organization providing comprehensive resources, support, and consultation tailored for the unique and diverse needs of the game community.

The inspiration for this new charity familiar comes directly from the real-life pup and his human companion Kelli Butler, a professional opera singer and active streamer for a variety of video games and tabletop RPGs. On stage, she's a coloratura soprano with an extensive performance resume. On streams, she's best known as The Opera Geek and appears on a variety of shows and charity events. We're excited to be working with her, and thrilled that she will be joining the cast of A Familiar Quest: Series 2 as Scotty, starting September 12th!
