Idle Champion 2024 Spotlight: Ellywick Tumblestrum
Posted in Idle Champions.

Ellywick Tumblestrum is the greatest bard in the multiverse, and joined Idle Champions back in year 4 with her triumphant song! But every performer needs to adjust their shows to make them better for the next tour. So this year Ellywick is getting an update to her set list during Ahghairon's Day!

I. Ellywick Tumblestrum

Dungeons & Dragons Ellywick

Thanks to a lucky draw from the notorious Deck of Many Things, Ellywick Tumblestrum is now the Greatest Bard in the Multiverse! Her magnificent music has dazzled beings across many planes, including royalty from the Feywild. The Summer Queen and the Queen of Air and Darkness were so moved by her performance that they gifted the bard her exquisite instrument, the beautiful lute Morningmist. She tells tales of her amazing adventures at the Witchlight Carnival, aided by her frog companion Groak.

Ellywick is a Support, Gold Find, and Healing Champion who uses the Deck of Many Things to augment her abilities. When you want her bardic skills to inspire your formation, she can be swapped out with Tyril in seat 10.

Check out our Champion Spotlight Video embedded below for a quick overview of Ellywick's abilities, and read on to get all of the details!

III. Ellywick's Abilities

Basic Attack

  • Quick Strum - Ellywick strums her lute three times in quick succession, sending out three streaks of magical musical energy that damages random enemies; a single enemy can be affected by multiple streaks.

Formation Abilities

  • Powerful Following - Ellywick increases the damage of Champions in the column behind her by 100%.
  • Fortunate Soul - Gold Find is increased by 50%.
  • The Deck Of Many Things - Ellywick draws a random card from the Deck of Many Things after every 25th enemy kill or after 60 seconds, whichever comes first. She can draw up to 5 cards at once and most duplicate card effects stack multiplicatively. Cards are discarded when she uses her ultimate ability, Call Of The Feywild. Her card options are:
    • Knight - Powerful Following +100%
    • Moon - Fortunate Soul +100%
    • The Fates - Other active card effects +5%
    • Flames - Enemies move 100% faster and deal 100% more damage.
    • Gem - Bosses drop 10% more gems
  • Greatest Song In The Multiverse - Ellywick counts the total number of cards she has drawn in the adventure. She increases the effect of Powerful Following by 3% for each card she has drawn, stacking multiplicatively and capping at 1,000 cards.
  • Call Of The Feywild - Ellywick unlocks her ultimate ability and, when she uses it, discards her current hand of cards. There is an instant effect based on each card discarded:
    • Knight - All enemies currently spawned take 500% more damage from all attacks, stacks multiplicatively.
    • Moon - Instantly drop 10% of the gold from all currently spawned enemies but enemies do not die, stacks multiplicatively
    • The Fates - Champions gain temporary hit points for 50% of their max health, stacks additively.
    • Flames - All currently spawned enemies move 50% slower and deal 50% less damage, stacks multiplicatively.
    • Gem - The next X bosses you fight has their max health reduced by 50%, where X is equal to the number of gem stacks.

Specializations

  • For The Fans - Additively increase the odds of Knight cards by 20% (additively reducing the odds of each other card by 5%)
  • Faster Tempo - Additively increase the odds of Moon cards by 20% (additively reducing the odds of each other card by 5%)
  • All That Sparkles - Additively increase the odds of Gem cards by 20% (additively reducing the odds of each other card by 5%)

Ultimate Ability

  • Call Of The Feywild - Ellywick draws six fey creatures to her; they appear on the right side of the screen and dash towards her across the enemies, dealing damage as they pass by. Once they are gathered, Ellywick plays a short solo riff in celebration and then they dash off again to the right, dealing damage to any remaining or newly spawned enemies.

Idle Champions: Ahghairon's Day 7
Posted in Idle Champions.

It's that time of year again when the citizens of Waterdeep come together to celebrate Ahgairon - the first Open Lord of Waterdeep. But this year the Champions don't have time to join in the festivities. The current Open Lord of Waterdeep has an important mission for them, and when Laeral Silverhand calls - the Champions will always answer!

Ahghairon's Day 7 has arrived and we're doing things a little differently this time around! Today, you can unlock a reworked Rust on the Harbour, the Tabaxi Rogue from the Oxventurers, played by Johnny Chiodini. Then, next week on August 14th, you'll be able to unlock a reworked Ellywick Tumblestrum, the Gnome (greatest) Bard (in the multiverse), from Wild Beyond and Witchlight and Magic: The Gathering. Both of these Champions received updates to their mechanics to better fit your formations. You can learn more about Rust in his Champions Spotlight linked below and Ellywick's Champion Spotlight that will go live this Friday, August 9th.

Table of Contents

Rust

Dungeons & Dragons Rust

Rust on the Harbour is a former pirate who gave up a life at sea because it was far too wet. His deadly skills are in contrast to his sweet nature and short attention span, and he enjoys seeing others succeed even if they are supposed to be antagonists. Now trying life as an adventurer on land, he'll lend his roguish skills to anyone who can give him that which his heart desires most: one gold piece.

Rust is a Support and Gold Find Champion whose excitement to find coin helps the rest of the formation increase their gold find. When you need his assistance in the formation, he'll be counting his one gold piece in seat 11, opposite Jamilah.

We are fortunate to get to work with a huge variety of actual play D&D series, but it's a rare treat to be able to include the Dungeon Master as one of the Content Creators who bring a Champion to our game. So we're very happy that this Champion from the Oxventurers Guild from Outside Xbox and Outside Xtra comes from DM Johnny Chiodini! They created Rust as their character for a Saltmarsh campaign, and brought the supportive tabaxi in as an NPC for the Oxventurers to enjoy. Along with their impressive DM skills, Johnny has made content for Eurogamer, GameSpot, and Dicebreaker, and currently creates videos about tabletop and video games for their Patreon.

Idle Champions: Midsummer 6
Posted in Idle Champions.

It's the day before Shieldmeet and the Open Lord of Waterdeep has gone missing. Nobody has seen Laeral Silverhand in days, and it is imperative that she be found before the meeting with the Masked Lords begins.

At the behest of the Blackstaff, the Champions are sent to discover what happened...

Midsummer 6 introduces Vin Ursa, a Plasmoid Fighter/Rogue Bounty Hunter - and CNE Original! It also brings back Valentine, the Reborn Half-Elf Sorcerer from The Black Dice Society, and Ellywick Tumblestrum, the Gnome Planeswalker and Greatest Bard in the Multiverse. Players have until Monday, August 7th at 12PM PDT to complete their event unlocks and objectives.

New Champion: Vin Ursa

Dungeons & Dragons Vin Ursa Key Art

Vin Ursa is one of the deadliest bounty hunters in Wildspace. Raised by a community of Autognome thieves and trained by a former Xaryxian assassin, Vin is an expert at completing dangerous jobs. To keep her skills honed, she spends much of her off time in the Arena of Blood. If there's one thing you should hope for in Wildspace, it's to avoid ending up on the wrong side of her L.A.S.E.R. sight.

Vin Ursa is a Support and Gold Find Champion who builds up a ledger of Favored Foes as you progress through an adventure. She supports the formation in capturing her Favored Foes and makes sure the extra reward is worth it. Once unlocked, her skills can be hired into slot 7 opposite Minsc.

For more information on Vin Ursa and all of her mental powers, check out her Champion Spotlight!

I. New Champion: Valentine

Dungeons & Dragons Valentine Key Art

Valentine was once a social butterfly, nightlife connoisseur, and princess of a shady family business until her life ended in sudden tragedy. Through the mysterious will of Bluetspur, Valentine was given a second chance at life, though no miracle comes without consequence. Now she wanders the domains of dread with her companion Tatyana, in search of purpose and power.

Valentine is a Support and Gold Find Champion who takes hold of any incoming positional formation abilities, and uses her telepathic powers to broadcast and boost them, making those abilities more deadly! When you want to add her to your formation, you can swap her with Calliope in slot 5.

For more information on Valentine and all of her mental powers, check out her Champion Spotlight!

III. Ellywick's Design

Ellywick Tumblestrum is not only a featured Planeswalker in the latest Magic: The Gathering release: Adventures in the Forgotten Realms, she is also a character you may encounter in the upcoming D&D TRPG Adventure: The Wild Beyond The Witchlight. We are so excited to continue the fun that Magic started with Ellywick's debut, and get everyone up to speed on her before you run into her on your next D&D campaign!

When we started to design Ellywick, we had the benefit of learning her backstory from The Wild Beyond Witchlight, but also what her Planeswalker Card would bring to the table. It allowed us to take inspiration from both brands' representations of Ellywick to create our own!

Ellywick is a Support, Gold Find, and Healing Champion who you'll find in Slot 10 (Tyril). Ellywick Tumblestrum is a Gnome Bard, legendary Planeswalker, and the Greatest Bard in the Multiverse. She won that title of 'Greatest Bard in the Multiverse' from a lucky pull from the Deck of Many Things, and her interaction with that iconic Dungeons & Dragons magic item is integral to her Idle Champions design.

Her Specializations allow you to increase the power of one of her abilities and increase the chance of drawing more beneficial cards, while her Ultimate Call Of The Feywild takes direct inspiration from her Planeswalker card, bringing 6 fey creatures forth to heal her allies and harm her enemies.

For more information on Ellywick and her abilities, check out her Champion Spotlight!

Idle Champions: Ellywick Tumblestrum
Posted in Idle Champions.

We have some amazing news to share today. We have a preview card from the upcoming Magic: The Gathering card set, titled: Adventures in the Forgotten Realms. Check out the reveal below!

Magic the Gathering: Ellywick Tumblestrum

We're so excited to share Ellywick Tumblestrum's card for Adventures in the Forgotten Realms! We're almost as excited as her companion Groak the Toad!

Ellywick Tumblestrum is a Mythic Green Planeswalker who costs 2GG for 4 loyalty.
  • Her +1 ability allows you to Venture into the dungeon. (more on that below)
  • Her -2 ability allows you to look at the top 6 cards from your library and put a creature card from among them into your hand. If it's legendary, you also gain 3 life.
  • Her -7 ability grants an emblem that gives all creatures you control trample, haste, and +2/+2 for each differently named dungeon you've completed.

What does Venture mean, and how do dungeons play into the new card set?

Venture is a new keyword for the Adventures in the Forgotten Realms Set, which allows you to venture through one of the many storied dungeons from Dungeons & Dragons. When you venture into a dungeon, you bring a dungeon of your choice into the command zone and put a venture marker on the first room. Each time you enter a room, its room ability triggers. Now that you're in the dungeon, the next time you venture into the dungeon, you move your marker to the next room, triggering its ability. When you trigger the last room's ability, you complete the dungeon! Huzzah!

For more information, check out the official blog post covering the set mechanics for Dungeons & Dragons Adventures in the Forgotten Realms here.

Idle Champion: Ellywick Tumblestrum

To celebrate the reveal of her Magic: The Gathering card, we're also announcing that Ellywick Tumblestrum will be joining the Idle Champions roster during our Midsummer 4 Event on July 21st!

Ellywick is a Support, Gold Find, and Healing Champion who you'll find in slot 10 (Tyril). Ellywick is the greatest bard in the multiverse thanks to a lucky draw from the Deck of Many Things, and that deck certainly influenced her design. We are excited to share more about this amazing new Champion with the release of her Idle Champion Spotlight on July 16th.

Ellywick Tumblestrum, Gnome Bard, Planeswalker, and now Idle Champion of the Forgotten Realms! To celebrate the announcement of Ellywick, you can use the code ELLY-WICK-CARD in Idle Champions to unlock 5 Gold Chests right now!
