Liar's Night 9 introduces the King of Shadows, available with the event launch today, and brings a rework for Farideh, available on October 8th.

Featured Champions

King of Shadows

Once the noble guardian of the ancient elven empire of Illefarn, a cataclysmic event twisted this protector, binding him to the corrupting influence of the Shadow Weave. Now, as the King of Shadows, he commands legions of spectral Shadow Reavers and wields potent shadow magic. Driven by a warped sense of purpose tied to Illefarn's downfall and the dangerous power of the Shadow Weave, he seeks to engulf Neverwinter and beyond in an eternal night. Farideh

Abandoned as an infant and adopted by an outcast dragonborn warrior, Farideh grew up to adulthood acutely aware of the drawbacks of being a tiefling. While those from the Nine Hells do their utmost to corrupt her, Farideh isn't interested in power so much as defending the world from demons, the undead, and any other villains trying to bring trouble or drag her friends and family into danger.

Flex Slots allow players to unlock additional Champions and earn chests during events, choosing from a pool of retired Champions associated with the event. Augment 1: Golden Weekly Offers (New Augment)
Description: One of your weekly offers will be Golden during this event. Golden offers provide an additional 10% discount! The Golden tag persists when an offer is rerolled.

Augment 2: Early Unlock (New Augment)
Description: The third Champion flex slot will unlock at the start of the second week of the event, instead of the third.

Augment 3: Empowered Rewards (Returning Augment)
Description: Tier 2 and higher event variants award Corrupted Gems in addition to their normal rewards!

Augment 4: Boon Enhancements (Returning Augment)
Description: An additional boon buff at each level increases the damage of Evil and/or Tiefling Champions!

New Champion: King of Shadows

The King of Shadows is a Support, Tanking, and DPS Champion that goes through three phases, with the advancement to the next phase happening when he is defeated. The power of his Tanking and DPS abilities increases the longer you can delay his advancement to the next phase. His Shadow Plague ability further augments his Tanking abilities, but actively drains health from Champions next to him in formation!

That's right - the antagonist of Neverwinter Nights 2 has joined Idle Champions as our latest evil-aligned Champion! To learn all about the King of Shadows, read on!

Abilities

Basic Attack

Shadow Strike (melee/magic) - The King of Shadows slashes the closest enemies, then blasts the enemy with the most health.

Passive Abilities

Corrupted Guardian - The King of Shadows is Undead and counts as 'dead' for the purposes of effects that care about dead Champions, but 'alive' for all other purposes.
Phase One: The Watcher - When you complete an area with the King of Shadows leading the formation from the front, he updates his current Toughness and Brutality stacks to the completed area number. When the King of Shadows is defeated for the first time, he immediately returns to full health, his Toughness stacks no longer update, and he enters Phase Two. When the King of Shadows is defeated for the second time, he immediately returns to full health, his Brutality stacks no longer update, and he enters Phase Three. His size increases by 25% each time he enters a new phase. Other abilities grant additional buffs upon gaining these new phases.

Formation Abilities

Power of the King - The King of Shadows increases the damage of himself and Champions in the two columns behind him by 100%. This is increased by 100% each time the King of Shadows' max health is doubled, stacking multiplicatively.
Shadow Plague - The King of Shadows damages all adjacent Champions for 4% of their max health each second, as long as the Champions have at least 20% of their max health remaining. Each time The King of Shadows successfully deals damage in this manner, he gains a Shadow Plague stack. Each Shadow Plague stack increases his own max health by 4%, stacking additively. Stacks cap at 250 and reset when changing areas.
Phase Two: The Warden - After the King of Shadows enters Phase Two, his health is increased by 1% for each Toughness stack he collected, stacking additively. He also increases the health of all other Champions by 25% of his max health, and healing effects on all Champions are increased by 25%.
Shadow Reavers - After the King of Shadows enters Phase Two, he summons a Shadow Reaver each time he uses his ultimate. An additional Shadow Reaver is summoned for every 500 Toughness stacks he has. Each Shadow Reaver attacks a random enemy once every 5 seconds, dealing 5 seconds of BUD-based damage. The Shadow Reavers last for 1 second plus 0.1 seconds for each Toughness stack he has. Using his ultimate again before the Shadow Reavers expire causes their duration to be refreshed to max.
Phase Three: The Warrior - After the King of Shadows enters Phase Three, his damage is increased by 5% for each Brutality stack, stacking multiplicatively.

Specializations A

Master of Pawns - Increases the effect of Power of the King by 100%.
Shadow Unleashed - Increases the effect of Phase Three: The Warrior by 1000%.

Specializations B

Legacy of Illefarn - Increases the effect of Power of the King by 100% for each Elf, Dwarf, Half-Elf, and/or Human Champion in the formation, stacking multiplicatively.
Embrace the Shadow Weave - Increases the effect of Power of the King by 200% for each Evil Champion in the formation, stacking multiplicatively.
Rites of Survival - Increases the effect of Power of the King by 300% for each Champion with the Healing role, stacking multiplicatively. Additionally, Shadow Plague no longer has a minimum health at which Champions will not be damaged, and the Shadow Plague stack cap is doubled.

Ultimate Attack

Cradle of Rime (magic) - The King of Shadows blasts all enemies with cold and necrotic energies, slowing their movement for a short while.

COTLI: A Song of Thrones 4

The winter is dark, so dark you almost can't see anything -- not even an advancing army or an epic battle. But you're sure it has started, because the wait has been so long and they wouldn't let you down, would they?

While armies assemble and the song begins, you still don't know who'll end up on the throne in the end -- but you do know that Holddoor, a giant, hulking, half-frozen orc, will help you get the job done. It's time for A Song of Thrones!

A Song of Thrones 4 introduces Holddoor, and Leerion, the Royal Dwarf, Brogon, Prince of Dragons, RoboQueen, Zombie Winter, and The Wolf King! The party ends on Tuesday, May 21st, 2019 at 12:00PM PDT!

New Tier 4 Crusader: Holddoor

Where once he may have had the chance to live a normal life, thanks to some tinkering of the fates it seems that it is now Holddoor's destiny to hold the door â€” only now, he won't let it go!

Holddoor is a Tank Crusader who supports the party by standing at the front of the formation and holding the door against all enemies. Monsters are drawn to him through his Focus ability, and once there are at least 15 of them he will Stand Strong and start to heal himself. He increases DPS with Protection, gains damage reduction when he becomes Scarred, and is able to dramatically increase DPS through his Loyalty and Hold the Door abilities. And did we mention there's a Paradox where Holddoor will cause White Runners to appear, run into enemies, and explode?

Crusaders Return

If you haven't collected them already, you can unlock previous Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 Crusaders by completing their respective objectives. Leerion, the Royal Dwarf, Brogon, Prince of Dragons, RoboQueen, Zombie Winter, and The Wolf King are all once again available to unlock!

New Tier 4 Objectives

Recruit Holddoor | Holddoor takes up a slot in the formation. All monsters live longer. Reach area 600.

Revenge | A Vengeful Lady takes up a slot in the formation. Minifinger monsters spawn randomly. Each time you kill a Minifinger, the Vengeful Lady buffs DPS for the rest of the run. Reach area 800.

Armies on the Move | Dragons and Horsefolk escorts occupy slots in the formation and move every 50 areas. Each monster killed in an area reduces DPS. The dragon damages the column in front of it. Horsefolk reduce the DPS for adjacent Crusaders. Reach area 750.

Winter is Here | All the monsters are White Runners, which are faster, tougher, and deal more damage. Only Evil Crusaders do DPS. Reach area 800.

Plot-Focused Episode | Naked monsters appear. They can only be damaged by projectiles, explosions, and active abilities. Naked monsters also deal damage to all Crusaders adjacent to the one they attack. Reach area 850.

Help! Whereâ€™s the Loot?

Equipment for event Crusaders can be found in Silver and Jeweled Thrones Chests, which you can earn from objectives and the free play or buy in the shop. Each non-recruitment objective will drop a chest for its given tier of Crusaders, and free play will drop all-tier chests. Gear for Tier 2, Tier 3, and Tier 4 Crusaders will only appear in all-tier chests once you've unlocked the respective Crusaders. You can select the tier of chest you buy in the shop.

You'll have until Tuesday, May 21st, 2019 at 12:00PM PDT to complete A Song of Thrones 4!

COTLI: A Song of Thrones 2018

The Wolf King has arrived, hailing the beginning of winter. Or maybe winter is still coming. Either way, the winner of A Song of Thrones will be decided by you!

A Song of Thrones 2018 runs until Tuesday, July 31 at 12:00pm PDT, and introduces The Wolf King, our latest Crusader!

New Tier 3 Crusader: The Wolf King

A fearsome dire-wolf whose bite is worse than his bark.

Crusaders Return

If you haven't collected them already, you can unlock previous Tier One and Two Crusaders by completing their respective Tier One and Two Objectives. Leerion, the Royal Dwarf, Brogon, Prince of Dragons, Robo Queen, and Zombie Winter will be available to unlock while A Song of Thrones 2018 is live!

Five New Tier 3 Objectives!

Recruit The Wolf King | The Wolf King takes up a slot in the formation and reduces your DPS by 2.5% (additive) each second. This effect resets when you change areas apart from boss areas. Reach area 500.

Dragonfire | Dragonfire appears in a random formation slot every 10 seconds, rapidly damaging whomever is in it. Zombie Winter, Roboqueen, the Wolf King, and Dragon Crusaders (including Nate and Natalie) are immune. Dragonfire lasts for 30 seconds or until you change areas. Reach area 600.

King of the Animals | Only animal Crusaders can be used. Reach area 650.

H-B-Uh-Oh | Every time an enemy is killed a random Crusader is stunned (DPS reduced to 0) for 5 seconds and gets a red ! icon over their head. The Wolf King is immune. Reach area 700.

Jam Packed Episode | All of the restrictions/effects from the Dragonfire, King of the Animals, and H-B-Uh-Oh objectives are active at once. Reach area 750.

BW2: ALS Charity Drive

Hi Whackers,

In honor of Stephen Hawking's recent passing, we're running an ALS Charity drive this weekend.

Until Noon PDT on Monday April 9th, you can buy a unique pet in one of three different packs. All of Codename's share of the proceeds will be donated to ALS Canada, a charity dedicated to supporting Canadians living with ALS and investing in research to make ALS a treatable, not terminal, disease.

At the same time, there's a visitor in the Commons that needs your help with their limited time quest!

New Event! Trek Through the Hidden Temple

Montana James dusted off his fedora before fixing back on his head. The frantic slide under the closing warehouse door almost claimed his hat for the umpteenth time. He was still clutching the tattered map of the rainforest temple as he picked himself up and ran for the waiting boat plane that would take him to deepest, darkest Peru...

"Throw me the idol; Iâ€™ll throw you the whip!"
The latest event takes our Crusaders on an adventure in the finest traditions of archeologists who also happen to be great at adventures. Yesteryear chic from the 1930s, an evil regime of bad guys and a race to recover ancient treasure in a temple in a jungle await you.

New Crusader! Recruit Montana James

The Trek Through the Hidden Temple event introduces our new square-jawed Crusader, Montana James, one of two new heroes to add to your roster. He requires rescuing himself after getting mixed up with a group of jackbooted soldiers.

For the first objective, the Crusaders will need to escort Montana to area 100 all the while being chased by soldiers who debuff all DPS and abilities for Crusaders in ever-shifting slots.

â€œSnakes. Whyâ€™d it have to be snakes?â€
The second objective sees the Crusaders pitted against a scaly new antagonist called King Draco. Draco intermittently summons his snake minions to attack a random Crusader, again debuffing all DPS and abilities for 30 seconds.

The remaining objectives include Daddy Says So, where the Crusaders are saddled with the daughter of the Crusader's benefactor (the guy paying for the expedition). Unfortunately, you're also weighed down with her luggage taking up valuable slots all the way to area 150.

Watch Out For Booby Traps will see a random slot fall foul of the classic pit-and-spikes trap. Every 10 areas different slots will lose all the DPS and formation abilities making reaching area 200 a challenge.

The final new objective is Mali Ka. Evil spirits (or maybe some dodgy local food) is turning the Crusaders against each other. Until you reach area 250, you'll be attacked by your own friends! Crusaders not in your formation will launch themselves at the other Crusaders intent on stopping them from finishing the objective.

Good luck, Crusaders, and before you undertake this epic adventure, take inspiration from the immortal words of Montana himself: "Fortune and glory, kid. Fortune and glory."

The Hidden Temple event will run until June 21st at Noon PDT.
