Spring Garden Event 2016!
Posted in Bush Whacker 2.

Garden Like Busy Bees!

The FIFTH annual Grow-A-Thon has returned to the Commons! Whack the bushes and gather their bounty so that you can plant flowers and trees in the Event area to make yourself a gorgeous garden. Impress the judges every 20 hours to earn Spring tokens to buy this year’s Custom Items. You need to impress the previous judge to get a rating from the next one.

Plus, fill your magnificent garden with critters! There are 5 to get throughout the event, starting with the Squirrel today! On platforms with friends, you can send out requests for a free one. On platforms without, you get a free one when the animal unlocks from the animal vendor! The tool-tip when you hover the critter in the store has their unlock date!

Also returning is the Gorgeous Garden contest! Check back next week for more details!

George has such a terrible green thumb, he’ll be looking for you to help him out trying to grow a plant for the first (or third) time.

Spring usually means spring cleaning, right? Freddy needs some help cleaning up his house. It’s gotten a little bit spooky. Cleaning items can only be whacked in his house.

Timmy wants to wake his turtle up from its hibernation after that long, cold winter. Aid him in finding things to tempt it back to consciousness.

New for 2016:

This year's event contains 6 new colours of violets for your awesome pixel art, as well as a flower to grow for a mini bonus!

We've added 10 new Quests!

Help the bees by building them a new home! As well, each Judge will have a request for you!

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How can I find the seeds?
Just keep whacking. The Holiday Item runes and pets will help attract them as well.

  • How do I grow plants?
There are the planters outside the garden to grow flowers in. If you click on them, you can see the plant store. Each plant has a different cost and grow time to get you your event progress points. You start with 4 free planters.

  • Is it good to buy extra planters for growing the plants?
If you have the seeds to spare and prefer to plant long-growing plants, then yes, it’s worth it.

  • How do I get the Decorator achievement?
If you go into the gardening area, the store button ($) has a selection of garden decorating items, where you can find the planter styles and watering can. These items also cost seeds.

  • What are the possible seed combinations for Farmer MacDonald’s quest?
You can choose seeds that grow either Energy or Gold, and then choose between 20, 15, 4, and 3 hours of growth time.

  • Why do my custom seeds cost Gold to plant?
You created the combination, which is unlocked until they expire. Just like normal plants, they cost Gold for planting. We don't award a flat number of seeds, because not all players have the same amount of farm plots. This way, you get to choose how many you end up growing. :)
  • Why don’t my custom seeds last longer?
Because they're OP! Enjoy them while they last. :)

  • How do I please the judges?
Just keep growing plants. As your event progress increases, you will impress the judges more and more. You DO NOT need to place them in your garden if you don't wish to. The plants still count for progress.

  • Does the Timey-Wimey watch or Time Turner affect the judges?
No, judges do not have quest cooldowns, so trinket effects that work for quests will not apply to them.

  • What adds to my event progress?
Growing plants worth points and completing the side quests. To get the points from your plants, you don't even need to place them in your garden! Just grow them!

  • Do I have to do the achievements?
No. Completing the goals for the achievements is totally optional. You get either a large energy pack or a title for your character from them, no event progress.

  • Where can I see all the achievements available and how to get them?
Either on the holiday dialog, the achievements dialog, or on the blog.

New Event! Gardeners of the Galaxy

Brash adventurers Nate Dragon and the Crusaders finds themselves the object of an unrelenting giant alien plant that is slowly taking over the galaxy.

Nate and gang are forced into an uneasy truce with a duo of disparate misfits. Robbie, a gun-toting raccoon, and Broot, a fibrous humanoid. Unfortunately for Nate and his new found friends they attract the attention of the galaxy's law enforcement and get thrown in space jail.

If they are going to save the known universe, they will have to breakout and head to the evil monster plant's home planet and give it a planetary-sized dose of Roundup.

New Crusder: Broot

New Crusader: Robbie, the Raccoon

After earning the requisite 100 seed spores, winning over Robbie and Broot will require some skillful Crusading for the first and second new objectives. However, once they join your ranks, their rascally charm will be a welcome addition to your band.

When partnered in the same formation the inseparable miscreants buff each other with devastating effect. Starting at level 100, Broot increases the DPS for Robbie by 100% if he's in the column in front. At Level 150, he conveys the same buff next to Robbie.

Reciprocating, Robbie enables Broot to take 25% less damage if he's in the column in front at level 50. By level 75 Broot gets a 50% health boost when adjacent to Robbie.

New Objective: Inifinity Stone

The remaining three objectives include 'The Infinity Stone', where the Crusaders must transport a randomly debuffing alien artifact to area 150. Crusaders next to the pulsating stone have their DPS penalized at random intervals.

'Displaced Wildlife' sees an outrageously cute fawn, rabbit and skunk occupy formation slots while the Crusaders slog their way to area 200.

New Objective: Displaced Wildlife

The final new objective, 'Gardeners, Unite!' only allows the selection of the most weird Crusaders available for selection. The ragtag ensemble must then use their disconnected abilities to beat area 250.

I am Broot. I am Broot. I am Broot!

Update! Tier Three Talents Are Here!

Boom! You asked for them, and we deliver: Tier 3 Talents are here, plus we have added new Tier 1 and 2 talents.

As a reminder for our new players, or for those who have yet to discover Talents, these are unique additional features and powers that are available in exchange for Idols. As ever, the criteria to unlocking the tier talents is dependent on you beating a specific area. For Tier 3 talents you're going to need to beat area 600 in any campaign!

You won't lose any DPS or Gold gains when you exchange your Idols. You'll always keep your total DPS and Gold bonuses in keeping with the number of Idols you've earned since you started playing.

You can read more about the first Talents we launched last year here and the Tier 2 update here. Without further ado, here are the details for the new Talents.

The two new Tier One Active and Utility talents are (available after reaching area 150 in any objective):

Massive Criticals

Critical click damage bonus increased by 10% each level (Max Level: 25).

Upgrade Them All

Adds a button that can be clicked to purchase as many upgrades as you can afford. (Available once you purchase "Spend It All")

The four new Tier Two Active and Utility talents are (available after reaching area 300 in any objective):

Ride the Storm

Storm Rider effectiveness increased by 10% each level (Max Level: 25).

Storm's Building

Storm Rider cooldown decreased by 5% for each level (Max Level: 15).

Doing It Again

Unlock Tier 2 difficulty for objectives with interesting restrictions. (Doesn't include the Ready Player Two campaign at this time.)

Efficient Crusading

Decrease the number of Crusader levels required for idols by 10 for each level in the talent (Max Level: 25).

The new Tier Three Active, Passive and Utility talents are (available after reaching area 600 in any objective):

Gold-o-Splosion

Gold-o-rama effectiveness increased by 10% (Max Level: 20).

Fast Learners

Decrease time needed to earn XP by 5% for each level (Max Level: 18).

Well Equipped

Increase DPS of Crusaders by 20% for each piece of epic gear they have for each level (Max Level: 50).

Swap Day

Increase DPS of Crusaders by 20% for each piece of epic gear other Crusaders in the same bench slot have for each level (Max Level: 50).

Deep Idol Scavenger

Increases Idols earned by 2% for every 100 areas unlocked for each level (Max Level: 25). (If you reset before you reach the next 100, you still get a percent of the bonus. For example, if you reset on area 50 and you have 10 levels in the talent, you get a 10% Idol bonus.)

Triple Tier Trouble

Unlocks Tier 3 difficulty for objectives with interesting restrictions. (Doesn't include the Ready Player Two campaign at this time.)

Free Golden Epic

Finally, we're celebrating the launch of Tier 3 Talents, and the recently announced mobile version, by giving everyone a free Golden Epic, in appreciation of your continued support.

Happy 4th Anniversary Bushwhackia!

Your friends in the Commons event area are up to something--and they need your help!

Be warned, this post contains SPOILERS for the event! You may want to play the first couple days of the event before reading these details!

The developers of Bush Whacker 2 are running the turn-in stations. Over the course of the event, you can find Typo Reports, Bug Reports and Suggestions in the bushes to turn in for event progress. Can you flood the poor developers with enough to earn the 100% Mosaic Piece?

Four daily quests will help you gain progress as well, starting with the quest for Gnome parts. Each completion will award you a random developer gnome and there are 8 of us to collect. Later on, there will be a daily quest to test your Bush Whacker knowledge with trivia questions, plus the return of Linus (from Halloween) who will have a sweet reward and of course, 4 years of whacking bushes has taken its tole, so it's best if you help to replant.

Do you have a favourite outfit from among the all the Custom Items over the years? Well, you can now show them off! Once you build the Costume Contest area, you can enter your favourite outfit and vote. New winners will be chosen daily, and will get a small treat.

Familiar friends, like Nate and Kaine, will also have quests as the event goes one.

And what is an anniversary without cake? Not a very good one! A souvenir cake will appear on Tuesday April 19 at Noon PDT and be available to interact with until Friday April 22nd at Noon PDT.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Which developer gnomes are available?
There are eight developer gnomes available: Cory, Alexis, Eric, Erika, Peter, David, Justin, and Adam. You can collect one at random each time you do the Gnome Parts daily quest.

  • Why do I want to help Linus daily?
The more times you help him, the better your reward at the end of the event. His quest can be reset with the VIP power to reset daily quests.

  • Will this event repeat next year?
Good question! We'll tell you next year!

  • How does the Costume contest work?
You can enter the contest once per day. Once you've entered you cannot change your entry, so choose wisely. Throughout the day players can vote on other entries much like the screenshot contests from Halloween and the Spring Garden events. At midnight, the top 5 rated entries win, and a new contest begins! Winners get a unique title and an energy pack, but cannot enter the contest again for 3 days.

  • What adds to my event progress?
Doing turn-ins at the 3 stations and completing quests for the NPCs in the area.

  • How can I find the turn-in station items?
Just keep whacking bushes and critters. The Holiday Item Runes and Pets will help attract them as well or you can use a VIP Voucher or Token on the Event Drops boon.

  • Do I have to ask my friends to help with the turn-in stations?
No, you don't have to. They just allow you to gain event progress faster.

  • When will the last quest unlock?
The last event quest will unlock on April 23rd.

New Event! Superhero Spring

The majestic city of Modern York is under attack from a host of super villains who want to subjugate the populace to their evil ways. The villains are in the process of recruiting all of the criminals, crooks, thieves and truant school kids to create an army to defeat your Crusaders.

For this new event called 'Superhero Spring,' you're going to need some superhero back-up. Shine that signal into the sky from an oversized search light and use your mobile phone to contact the other hero (because it's easier).

New Crusaders

Bat Billionaire is the mega-rich industrialist and notorious playboy who had a rather traumatic encounter with a rubber bat at Halloween. The life-changing event saw him adopt an alter ego as a mask-wearing vigilante who stalks cocktail parties and well-lit inner urban locations around Modern York to fight crime.

Metal Soldierette is a genius, billionaire, playgirl, philanthropist whose penchant for technology is matched only by her desire to use it to bash evil-doers.

Both new Crusader Superheroes can be recruited to your crime-fighting team by completing the first two objectives the Superhero Spring event.

Once in your party Bat Billionaire has some special abilities on his designer utility belt. For one thing, when you buy his level 75 update, all adjacent Crusaders get a temporary 50% DPS boost every time you use an active ability.

Another unique skill kicks in at level 150 when he unlocks the upgrade Deep Menacing Voice where-after all Crusaders affected by Alchemy take 50% less damage for it's duration.

Metal Soldierette is your new option for a tank. When unlocked at level 25, her DPS increases by 400% when she's placed at the front of the formation. At level 75 she gains the ability to self heal herself for absurd amounts, but she will eventually get overwhelmed without help from your other Crusaders.

New Objective: Bat Parking

There are three bonus objectives, as usual. Two-Faced affects the DPS of the Crusaders depending on which side of the formation they find themselves. Those on the right-hand side have their DPS increased while the left-hand side Crusaders have their DPS debuffed. These buffs swap around every few areas all the way to area 150.

Bat-Parking proves that the rich and famous are probably the biggest culprits when it comes to inconsiderate parking. The Bat Billionaire Mobile takes up five formation slots, leaving the remaining Crusaders to pick-up the slack to reach area 200.

New Objective: Stolen Hardware

Finally, the Stolen Hardware objective sees the Crusaders attacked by super-hard robots that bear an uncanny likeness to Metal Soldierrette. The party must blast their way to area 250.

Time to assemble, unite, transform and slip your underpants over your leotard, by the Hoary Hosts of Hoggoth!

Weekly AMA with Erika about Crusaders!

Hail Crusaders!

Thank you for making Crusaders of the Lost Idols an unexpectedly massive success.

It's been a pleasure hanging out in chat with you and interacting with the players. Instant feedback like that helps us provide the best game we can.

However, the Crusaders community has so many chat rooms, that it's hard to get to them all within a week, and our community management efforts have become strained.

In order to serve you better, we're going to experiment with a new approach.

Instead of Erika spending time in chat at unannounced points throughout the week, she will be available on the Crusaders of the Lost Idols subreddit for a 1 hour AMA every week. She will do her best to answer your questions, but she doesn't know everything.

If you can't be online to talk to her live during that hour, you can still always post questions and suggestions on the Crusaders forums on Codename, Steam and Kongregate, the subreddit, and request technical support through the ticket system, as usual.

Starting the week of April 12th, Erika will be on the Crusaders of the Lost Idols subreddit every Tuesday from 10-11am Pacific Time.

Chat with Erika about BW2!

Tags: bw2, community.

Hi Whackers!

Thank you for bearing with us during the growing pains of releasing Crusaders. As it was an unexpectedly a massive success which created many chat rooms and communities to keep track of, our community management efforts have been strained.

We realise that part of your enjoyment of Bush Whacker 2 is seeing us at Codename in chat, and we know that this hasn't been happening as much as we would like. So, we're going to try something new.

Instead of Erika spending time in chat at unannounced points throughout the week, we'll schedule a specific time each week for her to spend an hour in Facebook chat and one hour in Big Fish chat for Bush Whacker 2, answering your questions directly (assuming the information is available, of course). This way the community will know exactly when they can connect with Erika in chat.

If you can't be online to talk to her live during those times, you can still always post questions and suggestions on the Codename, Kongregate and Big Fish forums, and request technical support through the ticket system, as usual.

Starting the week of April 12th, Erika will be in Bush Whacker 2 chat on Facebook every Wednesday, 1-2pm Pacific Time and on Big Fish every Friday, 2-3pm Pacific Time.
