Under full moonlight, you see a sight that almost stops your heart!

Wait — this thriller-night has happened five times before! And it's back again tonight! Emo's New Moon has returned, bring ghosts and ghouls to the neighborhood schools where Crusaders fight for their lives from now until November 10th at noon Pacific!

Emo's New Moon 6 introduces Crooked Crow the latest Tier 6 Crusader and brings back The Evanescent, Trixie the Treater, Viktor the Vampire, Henry, the Scaredy-Ghoul, Fright-o-Tron 4000, Wendy the Witch, and Jack O'Lantern!

New Tier 6 Crusader: Crooked Crow

Tags: event, healer, support, Animal

That’s not their real name, but no one knows what is, so this is the nickname they’ve acquired among the Crusaders. They seem to have different names in different regions!

Once you've recruited Crooked Crow you'll find them a friend to bugs, selling beneficial potions and charms alongside cursed objects and scavenged bodyparts. You'll find Crooked Crow in seat 30.

New Tier 6 Objectives

  • Recruit Crooked Crow |Crooked Crow takes up a slot in the formation. Monsters are faster and live longer. Wendy and Jack take up spots in formation and can't be moved. Note: This will require having cleared the objective To Infinity and Beyond on Ghostbeard's Greed to complete. Reach area 600.

  • Frightening Ghouls | Henry and Fright take up spots in formation and can't be moved. Only Undead Crusaders can join them. Note: This will require having cleared the objective To Infinity and Beyond on Ghostbeard's Greed to complete. Reach area 650.

  • Bite Night | Viktor takes up a spot in the formation and can't be moved. Only Crusaders bitten by Viktor contribute DPS. Otherwise: Every 50 areas, all Crusaders have their DPS reduced by 75%, stacking multiplicatively, except Viktor. Note: This will require having cleared the objective To Infinity and Beyond on Ghostbeard's Greed to complete. Reach area 675.

  • Candy-mania | Trixie takes up a spot in the formation and can't be moved. Normal enemies drop less gold and Crusaders cost more to upgrade. Trick-or-treat monsters spawn randomly, and drop extra gold when killed. Note: This will require having cleared the objective Bullet Hell on Ready Player Two to complete. Reach area 700.

  • Soulful Escort | The Evanescent takes up a spot in the formation and can't be moved. Only Crusaders with 1000 base EP or higher can be used. After the first area, mosters are immune to damage until they are hit by a projectile. Note: This will require having cleared the objective Bullet Hell on Ready Player Two to complete. Reach area 725.

More info

You'll have until Tuesday, November 10th at 12:00 PM Pacific Time to complete Emo's New Moon 6!

BW2: Halloween Event, 2020 Edition!
Posted in Bush Whacker 2.

The Haunted Mansion Has Materialized!

Who doesn't love a good haunted mansion? Well, that's what Halloween in Bushwhackia is all about! But to decorate your very own, you need to do what you do best! Go out into the world and whack bushes to find Pumpkins. Once you have found a patch of pumpkins, you can buy decorations from Glenda outside the mansion, or from the "Store" button while you're in Build Mode inside. Once you feel you've got enough, start laying out your design inside. (You can also purchase the same decorations for Bush Bucks from the Cop in the event area.)

You do not have to place all your collected decorations on display in the Mansion in order for them to count towards "Halloween Collector," they will count so long as they are within your haunted house inventory.

The goal is to scare the 8 children standing in front of the house, all of varying levels of bravery. The more you scare them, the more candy you'll earn in return. And you're going to want that candy so you can trade it for the custom items at the event store! You can try scaring them every 20 hours after you scared them the first time.

Glenda the Good Witch isn't just for buying decorations with Pumpkins. You will also be getting several quests from her throughout the event for special interactive decorations. As you complete each of her four quests, you can request help from your friends* by talking to the Construction Worker to increase the decoration's scariness.

The Haunted Mansion Photo Contest

The Haunted Mansion Photo Contest will be starting on Monday October 26th on Codename Games only! You'll need 250 mansion spookiness before you can submit a screenshot.
Due to the recent platform migrations, Codename Games will be the only platform participating in the contest. Any players still on Facebook, Kongregate, or Armor Games should migrate their accounts to Codename Games ASAP to participate in the contest!
See the notice above the game for details on how to migrate your account.

Gotta Collect them all!

What can possibly make your house scarier? How about some Creatures which wander around your mansion! Each creature will become available for a set amount of dates which you can then request from friends* by talking to the the Cop.

Creatures are available on the following schedule:
Black Cats - AVAILABLE at Event launch, UNTIL Sun Oct 25, 11:59:59 AM PDT
Witches - AVAILABLE Sun Oct 25, Noon PDT UNTIL Tues Oct 27, 11:59:59 AM PDT
Zombies - AVAILABLE Tues Oct 27, Noon PDT UNTIL Thurs Oct 29, 11:59:59 AM PDT
Bats - AVAILABLE Thurs Oct 29, Noon PDT UNTIL Sat Oct 31, 11:59:59 AM PDT
Spiders - AVAILABLE Sat Oct 31, Noon PDT UNTIL Mon Nov 2, 11:59:59 AM PDT
Ghost Butler - AVAILABLE Mon Nov 2, Noon PDT UNTIL Wed Nov 4, 11:59:59 AM PDT
Franken-Dogs - AVAILABLE Wed Nov 4, Noon PDT UNTIL the Event End

*The Sparkly Vampire is still available for Bush Bucks if you want it in your haunted house.

Candy! Candy! Candy!

To buy the custom items, you need your Candy! Not only do you get it from scaring those insolent little kiddies, you also net some from completing the various quests given to you by the Halloween NPCs hanging out in the event area!

Plus from Thursday October 31st until the end of the event, you can hunt down denizens of Bushwhackia and Trick-or-Treat with them for Candy goodness! There will be a spooky character standing in front of a pile of Candy in each of the major areas! So 1 in the Mysterious Forest, 1 in the Shady Detour, etc. NPCs have been added up to the Salt Desert!

New for 2020:

If you can complete the event with 100%, you'll earn the Halloween Pet Piece! Collect all 2020 holiday pet pieces to craft a unique pet!

Plus, carve all new custom pumpkins with the pumpkin carver this year! You can buy the old ones in Ye Olde Hallow's Eve Emporium.

And the witch has a new special item to craft for your haunted mansion in their new Imp Duty quest. You can copy a permanent version of it for your ranch in the Fox's Moulder Most Foul quest line. There's also 2 new Haunted Mansion decorations: The Broken Mirror, and Grimoire Lecturn.

Finally, the Bone Doctor will give you a reward for completing each of his Necromancy Reagents daily quests, available in your 3rd year of playing this event.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How can I find the Pumpkins?
Just keep whacking. The Holiday Item runes and pets will help attract them as well.

  • How do I decorate my Mansion?
You need to whack up Pumpkins. You can buy decorations from Glenda in the event area, or from the Store when you're in Build mode inside the Mansion. Once you have decorations, you can place them like you're decorating your ranch using Build mode.

  • How do I scare the Kids?
Just keep buying decorations and getting friends to up the scare level of your interactive decorations. As your event progress increases, you will scare the kids more and more. As well, when you reach a certain level of scariness, the kids will elect to no longer tour your house.

  • Does the Timey-Wimey watch or Time Turner affect the Kids?
No, the kids do not have quest cooldowns, so trinket effects that work for quests will not apply to them.

  • What adds to my event progress?
Making your mansion as scary as possible by buying decorations (but you don't have to place them all.)

  • Do I have to do the achievements?
No. Completing the goals for the achievements is totally optional. You get either a large energy pack or a title for your character from them, no event progress.

  • Where can I see all the achievements available and how to get them?
Either on the holiday dialog, the achievements dialog, or on the blog.

  • Changes to the Dungeon Points and Dungeon Coin drops - The drop formulas have been tweaked a bit, due to the changes in the bonuses, but they also start earlier now.

  • Introducing the Rune System

Epic gear being elusive? Or Legendary gear taking a while to level up again? Runes are here to give you a power kick and make some changes to your play!

    The Runes

There are five types of Runes available to slot on your Crusaders: Fire, Water, Air, Earth and Soul. What power each unlocks depends on the Crusader you're assigning the rune to, otherwise each type of rune is identical.

You can level up runes by dragging a rune to the Merge box in the rune inventory, or by dragging a rune of the same level and shape onto a rune slot on the Crusader that already has a rune assigned to it. Merging runes to reach level 6 and higher will cost 1 Legendary Catalyst each time in addition to the two runes of the same level and shape.

    Rune Screen

The Rune screen is where all the magic happens. You can choose between viewing the list of Crusaders in the Formation, Crusaders who have Runes Slotted, and All Crusaders. Clicking on a Crusader from the list will bring up their personal slots and the list of their rune bonuses.

You can unlock the slots on a Crusader in any order. The first slot is free, and the rest will cost Legendary Catalysts, increasing in cost as you unlock more slots. Once a slot is unlocked, you can slot in a Rune and start seeing the benefits of the bonus.

Crusaders' Runes provide different effects based on their role, such as Gold Find for Gold Finders Crusaders. That applies to the first 3 slots.

Slot 4 on every Crusader provides them with a mission system boost. There are 4 possible effects that slot will unlock:
    • Increase the Gold won from Gold Missions.
    • Increase the EP won from EP Missions.
    • Chance that the rewards from the mission can be doubled.
    • Reduce the duration of missions longer than 2 hours in original duration.
Slot 5 on every Crusader will have a buff unique to them, which we will be adding over time.

Once assigned to a slot on a Crusader, you normally cannot remove a Rune, just upgrade it. There is a rare item, Rune Solvent, that will allow you to remove all slotted Runes from a particular Crusader. You can find Rune Solvents from a mission in the mission system.

    How to Acquire Runes

You'll be able to get Runes by opening Runic chests, and specific Rune types of certain levels as rewards from some season milestones. You can also get the Runic chests from the following locations:
    • The real money Chest Store, from the Runic chest tab.
    • Up to 2 chests per week from the Ruby Exchange.
    • Up to 3 chests per week from the Challenge Token store.
    • Up to 3 chests per week from the Dungeon Depot.
    • Up to 2 chests per week from the Mission System.
    • Season reward milestones.

Have fun with the new season and the new Rune System!

    Idle Champions: Liar's Night 4
    Posted in Idle Champions.

"Did you hear what happened at the Wayside Inn?"
      "No -- what happened?"
"While everyone was partying to Liars' Night they got robbed."
      "Seriously!? Who robs a party?"
"It was 'A Masked Man', apparently."
"What a jerk. I hope they catch him."
The local Liar's Night festivities at the Wayside Inn were interrupted by a masked thief! They stole magical items and escaped, and now it's up to the Champions to stop them!

Liar's Night 4 introduces Ezmerelda d'Avenir, a prolific vampire hunter from the land of Barovia. Ezmerelda brings a wealth of knowledge from Barovia to assist the Champions in dispatching their enemies.

This event also brings back Avren, the Half-elf Warlock/Sorcerer trickster, and Donaar Blit'zen, the Dragonborn Paladin. Players have until Monday, November 2nd at 12PM Pacific to complete their Liar's Night 4 unlocks and objectives.

For more information about Year 4 Events and how they work, please check out our Year 4 Events Dev Blog.

Ezmerelda d'Avenir, a Vistana monster hunter, has devoted herself to ridding the world of evil in all of its forms. After years of tutelage by her mentor, the vampire hunter Rudolph van Richten, Ezmerelda struck out on her own. She has since amassed a sizable personal fortune and an impressive arsenal of weapons for hunting monsters. Following the defeat of Strahd von Zarovich, Ezmerelda joins the Champions on their journeys through the world of Toril.

    Race: Human Alignment: Chaotic Good
    Class: Fighter/Wizard Gender: Female
    Age: 27 Affiliation: none

    Ezmerelda's Formation Abilities

A renowned vampire hunter from the land of Barovia, Ezmerelda is a Support Champion. She's a master fighter and uses debuffs to her advantage, culminating in her ultimate attack with a sun dagger to create a strong short-lived massive debuff for a devastating final team attack.

Ezmerelda has three different debuffs that she bestows on enemies as she's training the Champions in her martial & magical style. Her debuffs are based on her skills as a vampire hunter and are named for moments during her training: Pause, Prepare, & Parry.

In addition to her training the Champions, she also brings a wealth of knowledge against the undead, as illustrated in her The Devil's Playthings ability. Always training, Ezmerelda's Threat Tracking ability has her continuing to learn from her enemies in this new land. Both Threat Tracking and The Devil's Playthings start as undead based but can be changed to humanoid, fiends, or monstrosities with a specialization.

For more information on Ezmerelda and her abilities, check out her Champion Spotlight!

    Year Four Variants

    • The Devil's Scourge — Strahd von Zarovich sent his Zombies to follow Ezmerelda from Barovia. Strahd Zombies appear in each wave and deal 100% additional damage. They do not drop gold, nor do they count towards quest progress.
      Reach Area 75.

    • The Devil Knocks — The mists of Ravenloft encroach upon us, making it harder for the Champions to see. Enemies move 100% faster and drop 99% less gold.
      Reach Area 125.

    • The Devil You Know — Someone has taken the guise of the Masked Man! Ezmerelda starts in the formation and cannot be moved. Only Champions in Ezmerelda's column can deal damage. All other Champions have their DPS disabled, but their formation abilities are active.
Vampire Spawn appear in each wave and deal 100% additional damage. They do not drop gold, nor do they count towards quest progress.
      This adventure has unique dialogue.
      Reach Area 175.

    Idle Champion Spotlight: Ezmerelda d'Avenir
    Posted in Idle Champions.

Those that have played through the Grand Tour adventures based in Barovia have already been introduced to our next Champion. For those that haven't, we're beyond excited to bring Curse of Strahd's renowned vampire hunter; Ezmerelda d'Avenir to Idle Champions. Read on to find how this prolific monster hunter from Barovia will influence your formations!

Ezmerelda d’Avenir, a Vistana, was once the protégée of Rudolph van Richten — despite their checkered history. When she was young, her family wronged van Richten, and yet he spared their lives. Ezmerelda witnessed van Richten’s act of mercy and was deeply moved by it.

At the age of fifteen, Ezmerelda, still troubled by what her family had done to van Richten, ran away from home and tracked down van Richten two years later. Ezmerelda remained by van Richten’s side for another two years, helping him track down and slay many creatures of the night. Sadly because of her origins, van Richten never fully trusted her, leading him to keep secrets from her. This lead to frequent arguments between the two vampire hunters At last, Ezmerelda suggested that they part company with some shred of their friendship still intact, and van Richten agreed.

Since bidding farewell to van Richten, Ezmerelda has struck out on her own as an independent monster hunter. On one of her less successful adventures, a werewolf bit off her right leg below the knee, and although she avoided being afflicted with lycanthropy, Ezmerelda was sidelined for months. She commissioned a master artisan to craft a prosthetic lower leg and foot. After several tries, he delivered a prosthesis that restored her mobility. Ezmerelda d'Avenir has joined the Champions to try and rid this new realm from evil.

Ezmerelda is a Support Champion who increases the damage of Champions in her column, especially against undead, fiends, or monstrosities. Her ultimate attack is the ultimate debuff, creating a massive short-lived boost to global damage. When you want to add Ezmerelda to your formation, you can swap her with Bruenor (Slot 1).

    III. Ezmerelda's Design

A prolific vampire hunter from the land of Barovia. Ezmerelda brings a wealth of knowledge from Barovia to assist the Champions. In addition to her training the Champions, she also brings a wealth of knowledge against undead, as illustrated in her The Devil's Playthings ability. Champions in her column (including herself) increase their damage against Undead by 100%.

Finally, Ezmerelda is never done training. Her Threat Tracking ability has her continuing to learn from her enemies in this new land. Both Threat Tracking and The Devil's Playthings start as undead based but can be changed to humanoid, fiends, or monstrosities with a specialization. Threat Tracking count remains for the adventure, and if the threats tracked changes to fiends or humanoid, she will retain her previous stacks and starts counting the new type instead.

    IV. Ezmerelda's Abilities

    Basic Attack

    • Fire Bolt — Ezmerelda hurls a mote of fire at a random enemy.

    Formation Abilities

    • Training Montage — Ezmerelda marks enemies as she trains the Champions with her vampire hunting skills.
      • Pause: Ezmerelda marks every third enemy that spawns with this debuff. Once marked, the target gains one stack every three seconds, to a max of 10 stacks. For each stack, Champions in Ezmerelda's column deal an additional 10% damage against the target. Buffs apply to the post-stack value.
      • Prepare: Ezmerelda marks every enemy she attacks with this debuff. The effect of this debuff depends on the target.
        • If it is a hits-based or armor-based enemy: Whenever a Champion in Ezmerelda's column would remove a hit point or a chunk of armor from the target, remove one additional hit point or chunk.
        • If it is any other enemy: Decrease the enemies' max hit points by 50%.
      • Parry: The first time a non-boss enemy attacks, the attack misses. Ezmerelda then marks it with this debuff, which illustrates that it has already triggered this effect.
    • The Devil's Playthings — Increases the damage of Champions in the same column as Ezmerelda against undead creatures by 100%.
    • Threat Tracking — Ezmerelda tracks the undead creatures the Champions kill while she is in the formation, increasing the effect of The Devil's Playthings by .01% for each undead tracked. This total resets at the end of each adventure. This ability can be buffed by upgrades, feats, and equipment. Buffs apply to the total calculation.

    First Specialization Choice

The first specialization choice relates to which enemies Ezmerelda is tracking.

    • Stay on Target — The Devil's Playthings and Threat Tracking continue to track & trigger vs undead.
    • Fiendish Stature — The Devil's Playthings and Threat Tracking now track & trigger vs fiends instead of undead for the remainder of the adventure. She will retain her previous tracking totals.
    • The Devil Wears Many Masks — The Devil's Playthings and Threat Tracking now track & trigger vs humanoids instead of undead for the remainder of the adventure. She will retain her previous tracking totals.
    • Monstrous Intentions — The Devil's Playthings and Threat Tracking now track & trigger vs monstrosities instead of undead for the remainder of the adventure. She will retain her previous tracking totals.

    Second Specializations

The second specialization choice lets you choose how you want her to augment the party for the remainder of the adventure.

    • Smells Like A Trap — Ezmerelda senses trouble, and begins to mark all enemies in preparation for a renewed assault! Ezmerelda now marks every enemy that spawns with Training Montage: Pause.
    • We've Trained For This — The Champions are seeing results from Ezmerelda's training! Training Montage: Pause, Training Montage: Prepare, and The Devil's Playthings now affect all Champions in the formation, not just Champions in Ezmerelda's column.
    • He's Still Out There — Ezmerelda steels herself in preparation for the next time she encounters Strahd, and increases the effect of The Devil's Playthings by 300%.

    Ultimate Ability

My Signal — Ezmerelda reveals a magical sun dagger and launches it at the enemy with the most debuffs active (randomly if tied). The dagger lands in the target and remains there as it begins to glow with a burst of radiant energy, creating a new debuff that lasts 10 seconds. It increases the damage done to the enemy by 50% for each active debuff on them, stacking multiplicatively.

    V. Ezmerelda's Equipment

    Slot 1: Global DPS
    Slot 2: Global DPS
    Slot 3: Training Montage: Pause
    Slot 4: The Devil's Playthings
    Slot 5: Threat Tracking
    Slot 6: Decrease Ultimate Cooldown

BW2: Coppers of the Creature Collector - Werepires!
    Posted in Bush Whacker 2.

    Coppers of the Creature Collector

The eccentric Creature Collector has returned to the Commons, this time with a trio of Werepires!

Head to the event area and choose one to train. You have until noon on Wednesday September 9th to complete the collector's four daily quests, level up your chosen creature, earn Creature Coppers to spend in their store, and get another page to your Creature Collector's Compendium!

The Compendium Page will be given after the event ends. If you don't have the Creature Collector's Compendium ranch item, you'll get it when you get your first page.

After the event, the collector will be taking their creature back unless you adopt it by purchasing its corresponding pet pack, available starting Monday October 19th.

    Train hard, Bush Whackers!

Note: The VIP "Quest Reset" power does not reset these mini event quests, and they are not affected by the Time Turner and Timey Whimey Watch.

Ye Olde Creature Collector's Galleria - Pets

When you speak to Tanela Tiva in the event area, you can select the "What past pets are for sale?" chat option.

This will open a new store, which will contain 3 non-event premium pets you have never owned! They cost Bush Bucks, like in event stores. The selection will change next time Tanela Tiva visits to event area.

We've done this in response to players asking to see old premium pets they've missed out on, to help you fill out your pet collection. Snag those old-school pets you're missing out on!
